He’s dangerous, she’s a nerd.

He had a dark past, she had a horrible childhood.

He’s the leader of the Shadow Vipers, a feared gang ruling the underworld. She hides behind thick glasses and oversized sweaters, trying to forget the scars of her past.

He’s ruthless and unforgiving, but she’s the only one who sees the glimmer of humanity left in him.

She was his light, he was her protector.

In his dimly lit apartment, the city lights casting shadows across the room. She sits on the edge of the couch, clutching a book, while he stands by the window, his back to her.

“Why do you keep coming back to me? You could have anyone. Someone who fits into your world.” She said clutching her book

He turns slowly, his eyes locking onto hers. “You don’t get it, do you? In my world, everyone wears a mask. You’re the only one who’s real.”

“But I can’t be what you need. I’m not strong like you.” She whispered , her voice shaking

He steps closer, his gaze intense. “You’re stronger than you think Little lamb. You’ve survived things that would break most people.”

She whispers, almost to herself. “I feel safe when I’m with you. But I’m afraid of what that means.”

*He reaches out, lifting her chin to meet his eyes. “It means you’re mine. And I’ll destroy anyone who tries to take you away from me.”

His voice drops to a possessive growl, the finality in his words sending a shiver down her spine.

“You’re my heart, and I don’t share what’s mine.”
