Simon got home and the door was locked, luckily he had a spare key.

He opened the door, Michael wasn’t home.

Where did he go?

Simon was walking to his room,his eyes fell on a picture of his mom, Cynthia.

She and Kara had a striking resemblance.

Simon sighed,in a way everything was her fault.

It was her fault he became distance from Kara and Michael.

Simon wasn’t always cold and arrogant,he once had a soft mind until the day Cynthia left them.

He could stil remember how he had begged her with tears in his eyes,she didn’t even look back once. she left.

Nothing lasts forever not even family,ever since that day he just felt different, everything felt different for an inexplicable reason.

Simon sighed and went into his room.

Not long after Michael cale back home but he wasn’t alone.

Kara was with him looking tattered and unkept.

She groaned and sank into the couch.

“OMG..i feel like fainting, dad thank for getting me out of their,i almost died in there,do you know what they fed us?..poop”Kara said with a disgusted face and Michael raised a brow.

“Really..i mean only looking at it made me throw up, I’m pretty sure that thing was poop,it was so yucky and disgusting,they really expected me to eat that no way….”Kara said dramatically.

Michael just listened with a smile he was glad to have his crazy, talkative daughter back home.

“But dad,how did you get the money?”Kara asked and Michael’s expression immediately changed.

How could he bring himself to tell her, she would probably h@ťě him.

“Forget about that for now,you need to eat first, I made lasagna”Michael daid and Kara gushed happily while running toward the kitchen.

On hearing their voices Simon came down from his room.

“You’re back to disturb our peace”Simon said,opened the fridge and took out a bottle of chilled water.

Kara rolled her eyes at him and continued eating.

“Dad I’m planning on going jib hunting tomorrow,i really need to find a good job soon”Kara mumbled.

“There’s no need for that dear”Michael said.

“Why?..”

Their talk got interrupted by a beep from Kara’s phone.

She shrieked loudly after reading the message.

“What’s wrong kara,do you want to burst our ear drums?”Michael groaned.

“Am sorry, MLA BOYS just released a new song and it’s titled new girl”Kara said as she tried to download the song.

“You and this your crazy obsessed fan attitude,you even have creepy dolls of them,am sure if you met them personally their would get you arrested,freak”Simon scoffed and went to his room.

Kara frowned and tried to throw him z pillow but her tiny hand couldn’t throw far.

“Dad are you sure he is my brother? Or did you adopt him”Kara sighed.

“Come on, that’s not nice”Michael sighed already getting tired of their silly fights.

“He’s the one that’s not nice, he’s so annoying”Kara sighed and resumed operating her phone.

Richard came home very late because of the excess work he had.

He breath a sigh of relief and sank into one of his sofa’s,the comfort enveloping him.

“Good evening sir”Carl bowed as soon as he came.

Richard replied with a slight nod.

“Should i dish out dinner for you?”Carl asked.

“Am not hungry,you can leave”Richard said and closed his eyes.

Carl immediately left.

His phone rang,he opened his eyes and picked it

“What is it,old man?”Richard asked with a huskily.

“I just called to remind you ……..”

“I’m getting married tomorrow evening”Richard cut him off.

Carson was a bit shocked,like so soon?

“Be sure not to miss it”Richard said and hung up.

•NEXT MORNING•

The day went by very fast.

Kara stayed at home, doing nothing.

Michael went to work,he works as a construction worker.

Simon went to school.

Evening came quickly and the family were sitted for dinner.

Kara danced to the music as she dished out the food.

Kara had been playing MLA’s new song (new girl) all day,it was becoming annoying to Simon and Michael but to Kara it felt like a new song everytime she replays it.

After dishing out the food she sat and joined them, eating.

“How was school?”Kara asked trying to start a conversation with Simon.

“Why are you asking?”Simon asked.

“Don’t i have the right to ask?”

“No you don’t”Simon snapped.

She frowned and increased the volume of her Mp so the song was playing louder.

She knowingly did that to annoy him, which worked perfectly.

Simon stood up and left with his food.

Kara laughed and she suddenly noticed Michael had been quiet all through, normally he would tell them to behave.

Michael was busy battling with his mind how he would tell Kara her wedding was tonight.

All that was left to was just to inform her because Richard called and said he would take care of all the expenses.

“Dad”Kara called.

There was a knock on the door,Kara stood up and opened the door.

Three men dressed in suits walked in with jewelry, make-up and a wedding gown.

“Who are you?”Kara asked but she got no reply,the men just set it down and left.

“Strange. I think they delivered it to the wrong address”Kara said and turned to Michael who had an apologetic look.

“Dad,is there something you’re not telling me?”Kara asked.

Michael took a deep breath and explained everything to her.

“Dad how can you do this to me?”Kara yelled almost im tears.

“Kara,am sorry i had no choice”Michael said.

“What do you mean by that,you had a choice,we could have solved this together”

“I had no choice,we are in so much dept and i was worried about you…..”

“Me? I don’t care if i have to rot in jail than get married to anyone!”Kara half yelled.

“Please try to understand, I’m doing this for our family “Micheal said.

Kara shooked her head and ran to her room in tears.

Michael followed her and thankfully she didn’t lock the room.

He walked in,she was sitting on the bed crying.

“Kara i know what did was wrong,but you know our situation and nothing was going well for us, when i saw you in prison i felt like i failed you as a father.”

Kara sniffed and looked up at him,he walked closer and gave her a hug.

“Everything is going to be alright, please do this for our family,The money eould really go a long way especially for Simon’s school fees and think about his college too”Michael said.

Kara nodded and cleaned her tears.

“I’ll do it”

Kara and Michael quickly got ready but Simon had refused to go.

A car was already waiting for them outside,soon after they arrived at the hall.

The hall was beautifully decorated with roses and different flowers,the light shone brightly mostly concentrated on the alter.

The hall was already filled with unfamiliar faces,all waiting for the bride. Richard was already at the alter.

Kara walked in gracefully taking in every step carefully to avoid falling over,the gown was just too long.

She slowly climbed the alter.

“With the power vested in me i hereby pronounce you, Richard and Kara Moore , husband and wife, you may now kiss the bride”The priest announced followed by a standing ovation from the crowd.

Everyone was expecting the new couple to kiss but Richard shocked them by pulling Kara away.

He held her hand and pulled her roughly to the car,his legs were so long she had to run to match his pace but the dress made it difficult.

Richard opened the door for Kara without saying a word to her and she got in.

Richard also entered the driver’s seat and turned on the car. He was about to drive when Nicole ran to him.

“Are you leaving already?”Nicole asked with a slight frown.

“Yeah”Richard simply replied.

“Take care”Nicole said and then faced Kara.

“What’s your name dear?”Nicole asked.

“Kara”Her small voice came.

“It’s nice to meet you”Nicole smiled.

“Mom i have to leave”Richard groaned.

“Okay bye”Nicole said and Richard drive off.

“What a grumpy man”Kara scoffed inwardly.

The drive home was a little long,Kara almost fell asleep when the car came to a hault in front of a large mansion.

Richard got out and started walking in,Kara also came out and followed him.

She followed him till they reached his king sized bedroom.

She stood and watched him take off his jacket,he went into the bathroom leaving her all alone.

Her eyes scanned the neatly arranged bedroom,it was very large and spacious.

He legs felt tired so she sat on the bed, feeling bored,she didn’t realize when she fell asleep.

Not long after Richard came out, already dressed.

He starred at her face for a while then scoffed.

He grabbed a bottle of water from the table and poured it on her.

She immediately woke up.

“Why did you do that?”She asked, wiping the water off her face.

“Stand up”He ordered and she slowly did.

“What makes you think you could touch my bed talk more of laying on it?”Richard asied in his usal cold voice.

“I was feeling tired”Kara mumbled.

“Your not allowed to touch anything without my permission,do you understand?”He asked.

‘maybe i need your permission to breathe too’Kara said inwardly,and nodded.

“Use your words, you’re not dumb”He said.

“I understand”She muttered.

“What an annoying man”She scoffed inwardly.

“Undress and get on the bed”He said and her body froze.

“Am…am not ready”She shuttered.

“How is that my problem?”He asked.

“I can’t do it”she said.

He took a step closer to her and she immediately ran out of the room.

“Interesting”He muttered with a deadly smirk.
