Kim and Amber left the house. Kim kept staring at her friend’s face all the time.
“Don’t tell me that all these things is about Tayo! Because if it’s because of him, I will do something you never like.” Kim made an empty thr_@t.
“Imagine, a guy you dated in uni and some months when you got to handle your mom’s company..” She added.
“Nah wah ooh!'” Kim exclaimed and shrugged her shoulders.
“Stop nah kim, I wasn’t crying because of him.” Amber said.
“Eh, but you are pushing other guys away because of him.” Kim replied, Amber looked at her surprise. “Yes nah, there’s nothing you can tell me. Don’t get me angry..” Kim said.
“What will you do?” Kim asked, staring at her.
“Madam, you self know say your hot temper no reach my own half?” Amber said, staring at her. “So what will you do? No answer me.” Kim replied.
“Nothing, let’s go home ma.” Amber replied and chuckled softly. “Give me the car key please, is it not this car you bought two months ago?”
“Yeah, it is.” Amber replied and entered the car. “Omo, you know how to maintain your thing.” Kim teased her. “You’ve started, again.”
“With what?” Kim asked, driving out of the compound. “With your nonsense talks, which one is my thing again? Stop messing around with some crazy words.” Amber said.
“Is it not yours? It’s your thing nah.” Kim said, laughing Amber joined her. “Kim is so funny, always looking for what to do or say to make you smile. what have I done to deserve someone like her?
Uhm, she’s the best. Always there for me, anytime. Any day. Now that she’s getting married, I pray our relationship doesn’t end. I can’t even imagine doing things without her, without scolding me. Besides we scold each other, but I like it whenever she does that to me.”
“Madam, I’ve been calling you nah. What are you thinking about? I hope it’s not him, Tayo? Because if it’s him, will just….
It’s not him.” She cut her off and sighed softly.
“And I don’t want it to him…com’on would you use to somewhere else tonight, like the club. Ehn that reminds me..” Kim said, Amber adjusted a little to know what she wants to talk about.
“What about Momsy? And Derrick?” She asked, she glance at her and then the road. “She’s fine, Derrick went to see his friend Tunde..”
“I hope you are not trying to stop him from visiting his Yoruba friend, because of your past.?”
“I don’t understand.” Amber replied, looking at her. “You definitely understand, ode.” Kim replied.
“Wonder why you can’t say something without adding a curse, ahh” She murmured. “What did you say? I change an for you, two seconds. I got put am for your body..”
“Empty vessel makes the loudest noise..” Amber hits back. “I don’t blame you, shebi now am empty vessel. What about you? com-com, single strength you no get.”
“Just ki|| me, am not going to any party with you tonight. No club tonight..” Amber replied as she stopped the car in her father’s house. “Why nah? Amii com’on nah, you know I can’t go there without you. Bills on me..” Kim replied and Amber headed to the house.
“Amii, everyone will be there. Uju, Sam, Stacy. Com’on nah, you know I love you so much..” Kim replied. Amber went to her mother’s room, but she wasn’t there. She came down and saw the maid, who then told her that she’s in the kitchen cooking.
“Mom, again. I have been looking for you.” She replied and Derrick greeted her, but she ignored him. “You need to rest nah…” She said.
“Please, I need to prepare something before you come back. Derrick has been here with me.”
“That reminds me, where have you been? It’s 3pm.” She said, looking at him. “I went to see Tunde….”
Again, can’t Tunde come here and see you?” She asked. “It’s not just only Tunde, I also went to mom’s super market. Besides you don’t like,whenever he comes around.” He replied.
“Because I don’t trust them, Yoruba people are something else. Wícked, evil and demons..” She yelled, Kim came in she began mute and stretch her hands. “Mom, I will be right back.” She said and walked out.
Kim followed her, to the living room. “What was supposed to mean? Denying your own tribe, huh? Does it make any sense to you? Com’on nah..” Kim replied.
“As long as I live, this people I will continue hating them.”
“Are you mad? Your father is a Yoruba man, he got married to mom and they gave birth to you and your brother.. You’re Yoruba nah. Stop this, I don’t like it.”
“I didn’t say it, so that you will like it. It’s my choice.” She replied, heading to the stairs but stopped when Kim said something.
“Auntie Kate is right, you’re living with the past.” Kim said, stopped and turned, she came down from stairs. Kim waited for her, patiently to do her worst. “Yeah, I’m living with the past and I can’t forget them. If you have problems with my life, just fúçk off. Fúçk off.” She replied and walked away.
“God, what kind of human being is this? Oh God, please help her out. She doesn’t understand anything..” Kim prayed silently.
Some minutes later, she came out of the room and met her in the living room, watching a movie. “What are you doing here, alone?”
“You asked me to f-__-k off.” She replied, her eyes fixed on the television. “I’m sorry, I was just upset.” She said, apologetically.
“Alright, so are we going to the party tonight?” Kim asked, smiling. Amber rolled her eyes, her smiles dropped.
“Hey you know I can’t do without you.. Ehn let’s go please, bills on me. Amber com’on look at me nah.”
“Amber!” She called, looking at her. Kimberly sighed and hissed loudly, Amber chuckled softly and hugged her.
“Fine, we’re going. Okay, give me a smile.” Amber said, smiling. Kim gave the best smile and hugged her again.
“I’m going to the gym, take care.'” Amber said, leaving the living room. Kim yelled, “Yes..” happily.
She left after, Amber left for the gym. Helen was mad at her, she thought that she will stay a little while and have lunch with them before leaving. But she promise that will come next time, after all it’s also her home.
