She got to her car. She open the back seat and drop her bag and files there and shut it, before going to the driver’s seat.
Amber is a business woman, she doesn’t joke with her work. She got this company from her mother, yeah. Helen was a business woman and she’s still a business woman, she owns her own super market. It’s one of the latest super market in town. She goes there whenever she feels like, Derrick sometimes goes there.
She got home and the whole house was quiet, she was about to go to her room when she saw a maid, coming out of the kitchen. “Good afternoon ma.” The maid greeted, with a bow.
“Good afternoon where’s my mom? And Derrick?” She said. “Ma’am is in her room, she was complaining of headaches in the morning.” Monica said.
“Okay.” She muttered, and went to her mother’s room. She saw laying down on the bed, covered with blanket. She sighed softly and checked her body if it’s hot, Helen opened her eyes as she noticed that someone was touching her. “Kelly told me that you called and Monica said that you were complaining of headaches.”
“How are you feeling now? Have you taken meds?” Amber asked. “Yes, I have. How was your meeting today?”
“Went well. And where’s Derrick?” Amber said, “He said that he was going to see his friend Tunde.”
“What stupid friend? Why didn’t he stay here with you? Huh? He should have stayed at home, what if something happens?”
“Nothing will happen, and stop being dramatical.” Helen replied. “Oh, wh@ťěver.” She replied and left her room.
She arrived at her room and dropped her bag and flies on the table, she threw her phone on the bed and then removed her clothes. “I can’t believe her left, knowing fully well that she has headache.” She murmured and walked into the bathroom.
She took her bathe and then return to the room, she dried her wet body and went to the wardrobe, she brought a jumpsuit and glare at it for a while before dropping it. “What will I wear?” She thought and picked up another outfit, she smiled at the pink coloured gown. “I will put on this.” She said, some minutes later. She came out of the room, to her mother’s room. “I’m leaving.” She said.
“To where?” Helen asked, staring at her. “Your sister wants to see me, auntie Kate.” She replied.
“Ahh, I hope all is well?” She questioned. “I don’t know, I can’t say anything but that. I just pray that everything will be fine. Take care of yourself.” She said and left.
She arrived at Mrs Kendall’s house, she knocked on the door and the maid was the one who opened the door. She smiled at her and walked into. “Is my auntie around?” She asked.
“I’m around..” Kate replied, walking down the stairs. “I’m glad, you came..” Kate said, Amber smiled at her words. Actually this is not the first time that she is asking her to come see her, Amber will always come up with some excuses about her business.
“I’m sorry, auntie Kate. Work hasn’t given any chance at all.” She replied, “Same way it hasn’t given you chance to find a suitor..” Kate said, in a mockery tone.
“Haba, auntie mi.” She murmured, “Kilo de? Don’t give me that look oh.” Kate said. “Sorry ma, why did you call me here?”
Well…” She cleared up her throat and glance at her. “It’s about you and your work.” She said.
“What’s wrong with my work? I’m doing everything to make sure everyone is happy, I mean am not like Stanley.” She replied.
“That’s exactly my point, Amber. You’re doing everything like your dad.” Kate said. “He’s not my father.” She replied, sharply.
“Amber, will put a stop to this madness?
“Did you call me here to scold me? And tell me how I will live my life?” Amber questioned.
“I’m not telling you how to live your life, but am making you to understand that. Keeping the past, won’t solve the problem. You’re still living post with the past.” Kate said.
Amber sighed softly, and clicked her tongue. “Mom asked you to say this, right?” She said, looking at her.
“You know what, I have to leave. Like why’s everyone talking about suitors. I don’t wanna break down, so it’s more advisable to leave.
I’m sorry, maybe we will talk next time.” She replied and grabbed her phone and stood up “Amber, please..it’s okay I can drive myself home. Take care of yourself and find some time to come around and stay with mom, she misses you.” She said and walked out of the living room, she entered her car and allowed the tears to flow down freely.
She was still in tears, when her phone rang. She stared at her phone, but she couldn’t see the name of the caller, it blurry. She has been crying, she quickly wiped her tears and cleared her voice.
“Hello,Kim.” She muttered. “You and who is doing that rubbish? What’s wrong with your voice?”
“My voice?” Amber questioned. “No, ma. My voice.” Kim replied, rolling her eyes. “What’s up? Are you crying?”
“No… I’m fine.” She replied and quickly cleared her voice. “I know you, very well, uhm! You can lie to other people not me.”
“Kim, I’m fine. I wanna go home now.” She mumbled, trying hard not cry. “Where are you now?”
“Kim, com’on am fine. You’re mad, what did I say? You’re mad. You better stay there, am coming to pick you up.” Kim said, and she rushed out of her house and board a taxi down to the place, she is. The security guard let her in, they are close.
“You didn’t tell me that, you were at auntie Kate’s house.” Kim said as Amber open her car door. “Were you really crying? Let’s go inside and greet auntie Kate nah.” Kim said, holding her hand, but Amber didn’t move. She sighed heavily, “What happened?”
“It’s nothing..” She replied, rolling her eyes and looked away. “If I go inside and I found out that there’s something, I won’t spare you.”
“Ah, mommy. You’re now my mother abii, no be only won’t spare you.” Amber replied, after all talking she followed Kim into the house. Kate was surprised when her maid came to tell her that Amber is here, with Kim.
“Good afternoon ma.” Kim greeted, showing some respect by making a slight knee. “Good afternoon, my dear. Ah Amber I thought you’ve left already.”
Kim looked at her, Amber looked away. “I was about to leave, when Kim called.” She replied, adding a little smile.
“With all these smiles, I wonder why you don’t want to get..” She paused, Kim understood where she’s heading to, she left the living room and purposely called auntie Kate.
“You called me?” She questioned. “Yes, I did ma. What’s the matter with Amber?”
“I called her to talk about her life and she doesn’t want to settle down. You girls have been friends, since childhood. I don’t blame her at all, but still living with her past, it’s bad. Very bad. Talk some sense into her, she needs a man in her life.”
“Uhm, auntie Kate I’ve heard you. I will do everything within my powers to make sure that she gets a man. I can’t force, but because of this I will do a very serious prayers, to make sure my friend gets married after me. Imagine catching a bouquet of flowers after a wedding and you’re still single. All i know is after my marriage, she is next.” Kim said.
“Thank God, Amber doesn’t know the kind of blessing you’re to her life. Please take care of her, I pray she let go of the past and face the present.” Kate said.
“Kim, it’s time we go home nah.” She said, softly and sighs. Kim and Kate looked at her, they came out and went to living room.
“Were you guys planning to spend the whole day there? I need to go to the gym.” Amber said.
