? Chapter Forty-One?
Days turned into weeks and weeks into months, but still they haven’t heard any news about Hazel, it looked like she had vanished into thin air. Meanwhile the relationship between Alex and Cassandra became more further, she never talked to him even when they got back to his house in Texas, she became more cold to him and never gave him the chance to talk, she came back home late and so did he, he stuffed himself with work so that he would be able to think of something to change her mind. He had already given up.
Alex and Cassandra were woken up by the sound of the doorbell, they wondered who would be knocking by this time of the night, both were in separate rooms. Cassandra got to the door first because her room was closer to the door while Alex stood at her back.
“Mom “She called, Alex was also shocked because he never expected his mother-in-law to be here around 11pm.
What could be the matter?
“Why are you looking at me like that, I need to get in “She bawled.
“Come in “Cassandra said as she opened the door widely for her to come in.
“Mom what happened? “Cassandra asked
“Good evening aunt “Alex greeted
“Evening Alex, how are you “She answered him, scoffing at being ignored by her mom. She sat down on the chair nonchalantly.
“Heyyy, don’t you sit down like that, it could harm the baby “Her mom nagged and she rolled her eyes.
“The baby is not in any danger” she replied
“Really! And how do you know? it’s not like you know anything about pregnancy ” her mom said
“Enough of the lectures mom, so why are you here?”Cassandra asked, going straight to the point.
“I felt something was wrong so I came here as soon as possible, is anything the matter “Her mom asked as she looked at them with a suspicious look.
“Nothing is going on ma’am everything is fine, I could see you look exhausted, what would you like to have “Alex asked changing the topic
“Am good just a fruit juice will do “She replied
“Ok, will go get it right away “Alex said as he entered the kitchen while Mrs Owen went to the guest room to have a shower.
Alex kept the fruit juice and some cookies on the table, Cassandra was in the sitting room waiting for her mom to come out before she went to bed.
“Cassandra “He called, but she disregarded him.
“Pls listen to me, I do not want your mom to know that there is something wrong with our relationship, I just want us to sleep in the same room till I find a solution ” he said and that got a reaction from her.
“And what solution do you want to find, the only solution is a divorce. I want a divorce “She said
“Pls Cassandra just listen to me, just for the time being “He said and she frowned, her mom came in when she wanted to reply.
“I see you guys feel sleepy, don’t worry you could go back to your room, just need to talk to Alex for a while” her mom suggested.
“Ok mom, I will” Cassandra said as she walked to her room.
Alex and Mrs Owen had a long talk that night which resulted in him entering his room around 12pm. He was shocked to see Cassandra on his bed, with a pillow placed in the middle, she had divided the bed space. He never knew she was this childish. He chuckled for a while before he retired to bed.
[The next morning]
Cassandra woke up to see her head on his chest and his hands on her waist, their position was quite awkward (actually cuddling each other), for a couple that was fighting but they looked cute, she raised her head up to see his cute sleeping face, she was meant to be angry at him but she wasn’t, she just wished she could stay like this forever, but she needs to get to work. She tried to get up from the bed but he dragged her back and she fell back on the bed now her lips touching his, he had a smirk on his face… was he dreaming or was he doing it on purpose? She thought as she leaned forward to touch his face but then stopped, she redrew her hands then removed his hands from her body, got up and entered the bathroom.
After having her bathe she wore her clothes and left the room not bothered about the guy who was no longer on the bed, Alex woke up not too long after she entered the bathroom, he just had a dream about making love with Cassandra, f_ck that dream felt so real but you know when it wants to get to the intense part something’s always disturbing your sleep, he went out to prepare some breakfast for the both of them since his sweet dream was being disturb by the unknown, not like she eats, he just makes it at least she could have a change of heart one day. He prepared a Greek lemon soup with chicken and pasta shells for her while he preared bacon and eggs for himself and his mother-in-law, he served the dishes on the table.
“Good morning Alex “Mrs Owen said, proud to see her son-in-law setting the dishes.
“Morning aunt, how was your night”He asked with a smile
“It was fine, yours “She answered
“Morning mom “Cassandra said as she picked her bag ready to leave for work.
“And where are you going too madam “Her mom asked, well ever since she became pregnant, her mom has been behaving bossy lately, she doesn’t want any harm on her grandkids because she thinks that for Cassandra to be pregnant again is up to God.
“To work of course “She replied
“Have you had your breakfast? No! So now get your @zz on the chair and eat the food specially prepared by your husband”Her mom said
“I am late for work “She said, but her mom seized her car keys and pointed at the chair.
“Nobody is going to question you whether you are late for work or not, so eat, work is not running anywhere “She said, her mom pushed her gently to the dining table, Alex shifted the seat back for her to sit down without any disturbance, then he pulled the chair forward, she gave him a scornful look before she looked at the food with a disgusting face.
“What’s this “She asked irritably
“Food, now no more questions and eat “Her mom said as she gave Alex a signal to feed her, Alex brought out the cutlery and tried to feed her but he paused when he saw the look he was getting from her.
“What is the problem, is he not your husband, Cassie I think I forgot to teach you how to behave with your husband, we have a long way to go “Her mom said with a sigh.
“Hell no, mom I ain’t ready for any speech “She argued that when Alex kept the food in her mouth, she was caught off guard and he laughed a little bit because of the way her mouth was.
‘Sorry’ he mouthed, , she frowned when she swallowed the soup, this was the first time he cooked the soup actually he made a research about the food that was good for pregnant women and he found this on the list. He felt nervous waiting for her reaction.
Would it be bad or good?
What would she say good even though it was good?
Good?
