🦋CHAPTER 37🦋
*Three Week Later*
ANNA LEIGH’S POV
I was in the kitchen, wearing tank top and jeans shorts, cooking some beef soup and stirring it, sweating like I’m close to hell, Chris was in the living room, he doesn’t have any class.

I decided not to go to work for three weeks because of what happened last time. Adam called me all sorts of names while trying to ki|| me. Is he okay at all? Should I tell Chris about it.

“Is the soup not done yet? I’m starving.” Chris whined from the living room, watching movies.

“In a minute!” I groaned tiredly, I staggered again feeling so weak as I turned off the stove and served some beef soup into a white bowl and kept it on a tray.

The door was suddenly knocked and I feared immediately.

“Adam?” I muttered as I went to the door and opened “Oh, it’s you, Mrs Cassandra, Good morning.”

She smiled wearing a high low long sleeve crepe dress, she frowned “Are you okay? You’re sweating.”

“I was cooking breakfast, the heat in the kitchen…”

“I get it.” She smiled “Good morning sweetie, how are you feeling?”

I nodded “Please, come in.” I offered as she entered.

“Hi, I’m Cassandra.” She waved at Chris who’s starring at her, not saying a word.

“Hey Cassandra.” He smirked.

“She’s married.” I blurted.

His smile went down “Did I ask for your opinion?”

I rolled my eyes as Cassandra and I sat at the dining room, served some soup for both Chris and Cassandra. Chris is having his own at the balcony.

“This soup is really good.” Cassandra said while eating “How did you make this?”

I shrugged “I’m a natural.” I replied, trying my best to eat the cold sticky and slobby liquid food.

How is it delicious? Is it just me thinking that way?

She took another spoon and groaned “This feels I’m in my mother’s house in Mexico.”

I giggled with a blush, cringing inside as I took another spoon, my stomach started growling.

The door was knocked again “Who is it?”

“Rosa!” She replied.

“Come in!”

Rosa walked in, wearing white tank top and brown floral midi halter skirt, like a hippie.

“I was worried why you haven’t been to work, just heard what happened at work, are you okay, sweetie?” She approached me checking my neck “Ay no, mira los moretones mija, déjame tratarte, tengo un remedio perfecto.” She said, checking her purse.

“Hi, I’m Cassandra.” She waved.

Rosa smiled “Nice to meet to, Hermosa.” She greeted, removing a brown medicinal bottle “Let me…”

“Mom, I’m fine…”

“Shut up.” She snapped, applying some white, cold cream on my neck.

I giggled “Hehe, it tickles.”

“Stop acting like a child, little kid.” She smiled, putting the medicine.

After that, she sighed, closing the medicine bottle “Done and it ten minutes, you’ll be healed like a miracle.”

“Wow.” I giggled.

“Great, so let’s continue our breakfast.” Cassandra groaned, almost finishing such big soup “You got more?”

“You can have mine.” I cringed, moving the bowl to her.

She frowned “ What about you? You need to eat something.”

“I’m good, that soup makes me sick.” I said, wanting to puke again.

I’ve been feeling like this for the past three weeks.

Rosa sighed “Anna Leigh, can you see me in the kitchen for a sec?”

I agreed “Excuse me.” I said and stood, following her to the kitchen.

“Sit down.” She made me sat down on a dining chair.

She sat in front of me, holding my hands “Mija, you’re getting skinnier than ever and you keep vomiting anytime I see you? I hope it’s not what I’m thinking.”

I shrugged “What?”

“Don’t you think you should go to the hospital to check if you’re pregnant?” She asked.

I became speechless for some seconds then burst into laughter “You aren’t serious? Are you?”

She frowned “Mija, I know a pregnant lady when I see one.”

“Okay, I’m not pregnant, okay? I went to a nurse last week to confirm what’s wrong with me, he said I had malaria fever, and he gave me some drugs which I’ve been using, regularly.”

That’s true.

“Any improvement?” She asked.

“No.” I shrugged “I think he’s lying.”

Fake nurse!

“He’s a fake, you’re a pregnant sweet girl who deserves happiness.” She said.

“I am not pregnant.” I stood angrily.

I don’t wanna get pregnant anymore, I don’t want last time to repeat itself. Unless it’s for Chris. I don’t even know who the father can be.

“You know what? I have to leave.” She stood and left.

“Wh@ťěver.” I muttered as I went to lock the door.

I realized Chris isn’t outside anymore “Chris? Chris? Where did he go?”

I sighed as I returned inside and closed the door “I’m sorry I’ve been keeping you waiting.” I sat beside Cassandra on the couch.

“Girl, you need to eat something.” She said.

“But what? I don’t have any appetite, I’ll eat something later, I promise.”

“Really? Fine.” She shrugged.

“Do you wanna work in my company? I promise Adam won’t bother you.” She offered.

I nodded “Yes!”

*Later That Day*
She took me to her office building full of paintings and impressive workers.

“Good morning ma’am.”

“Good morning Sally.” She greeted her “Good morning Sally.” She greeted her receptionist as we entered her office.

“You should work as supervisor, since my vacancy is full, don’t worry I’ll pay you enough. No interviews, you’re hired.” She shook hands with me.

I grinned feeling happy for getting a new job easily. I just hope, Adam’s okay.

I started supervising the impressive painters, smiling at their art work, I’m not really good at this.

I started sweating and getting tired after just few walks, feeling like throwing up.

I staggered and ran to the nearest bathroom and vomited into the toilet seat.

I stood and washed my face, then went back to work.

“I an not pregnant, I am not pregnant, I am not pregnant.” I kept whispering to myself till I finally returned to the lobby, checking the artists.

A girl was trying to carry her heavy paint board “Lemme help.” I carried the heavy thing with her.

The next thing I knew, I fell to the ground like a dead body and blacked out.

I opened my eyes and first thing I saw was a blurry white ceiling and someone in white coat standing beside me.

“Where am I?” I asked myself, sitting upright.

Everything went clear and saw it’s the doctor, that means I’m in an hospital. Before the doctor could talk.

“Anna Leigh?” Rosa sat beside me and hugged me, she disengaged with a smile “See, I told you so.”

I frowned confusedly “You told me what?”

“Well, you’re 3 weeks pregnant, ma’am.” The doctor said.

“What?!” I exclaimed.

It can’t be.

How will I face people that I’m pregnant at 18 years?

For the second time?

“Doc, there must be some mistake, I can’t get pregnant.” I protested.

“Well, when last did you have s×x?” Rosa asked.

I bent my head in embarrassment “Three weeks ago.”

She gave me a contempt look “M-hmm.”

“Well, if you also want some DNA test, just tell me and gather some samples.” He said and left.

“I can’t believe this, I’m not ready for any responsibility or sorrow, I don’t know if I may have another miscarriage.” I whined.

“Shhh, don’t say that honey. I promise it won’t repeat itself.” She said “Besides, the doctor says you need an extra proper care like a newborn baby because you’re not strong enough to carry this child, so I’ll take good care of you, mija.”

I smiled feeling attached to her “Thanks Rosa.”

“Anytime, sweetie.” She kissed my forehead.

But who’s the father? Because Chris and Adam slept with me the same day.

*Later In The Evening*
Rosa and I left the hospital after I got discharged. We entered a taxi that took us to my home.

I saw Chris walking into the building “Chris!” I squealed as I came out of the car and ran.

“Anna Leigh, be careful!” Rosa came out too.

I met him at the stairs “Babe.” He smiled as we hugged.

He pulled from the hug “What’s up today? You’re being happy and cheerful.”

Well, I’m a little happy that I’m going to have a baby but I just don’t know who the father could be, maybe Chris or Adam.

I shrugged with a fake grin “Nothing, I just miss my fiance.” I hugged him again and removed a curly strand from his hair and hide it immediately.

“Let’s go inside you love beds.” Rosa said as we entered our apartment.

“Mija.”

“Abuela.” I hugged my grandma “Where are the others?”

“They’re still in the hotel, I just wanna see my mija.” She kissed my cheek.

“Anna Leigh.” Rosa walked in.

“Abuela, this is…”

“Rosa!” She grunted angrily.

“Frida.” Rosa retorted.
