Later that night, Sophie was waiting patiently for Raymond to show up.
Raymond haven’t forgotten that yet. He had stopped all he was doing just for tonight.
While he left to his room to meet the damsel, he perceived a scent. He stopped, that smell, he has perceived it before but, where?
He followed the scent down to the dungeon. “Open the gate.” He ordered the guards.
They opened the gate and he walked in. The closer he got, the more the scent increased.
“Mummy, daddy is back.” She said, playing with her hands, causing the chains to make noise.
He stood there, watching her talk to herself, playing with the straw grasses.
She noticed someone standing outside, she looked at him. “Hey, you’re new, aren’t you? You look tired. Come on, I’ve got plenty for you too.”
Raymond was trying to look at her face but her hair was blocking her face, making it impossible.
He went back to the gate. “Who has the keys?” He asked.
“I do.” Said one of the guards.
“Hand it over.” He took the keys from him, returning back to the dungeon.
He opened the door, walking in to her side.
“I’m so delighted you do wanna have a taste of my food. Please, don’t say no like the others do.”
She stretched her hands out for him, ” Please have a seat.” Raymond kept standing. “Fine, you’re just like the others. Don’t bother eating my meal, I’ll do that myself.”
She didn’t pay attention on him, her mind and focus were back to what she was doing.
He squatted before her, holding her chin to look at him. She pulled her face away. “Look at me. I won’t hurt you.”
Slowly, she looked at him. He shifted the strands of her hair, revealing her face to himself.
“You shouldn’t be here. Since you aren’t eating my food, then you should probably go away. Go!!”
He was looking directly into her eyes. The last time he saw that face, was the last time he paid a visit to Moon Stone.
“What happened to you?” He asked, cupping her face.
“Let go off me, you cheater! You left me for her. You despise me after everything I’ve done for your? Get out of my life!”
Raymond frowned. She was talking about Kaleb.
” You’ve over think too much.”
“I haven’t, I know what I’m talking about!! Leave me alone!” She pushed him, but he didn’t let go. ” I warned you never to think too much. Why didn’t you listen to me?”
“I had to, because you made me to. Get away from my life, Kaleb. I wish the beast have you dead. I wish he’d take the throne from you.”
He unlocked the chains from her hands and legs. ” Don’t take me away from my paradise, I want to stay here.”
” I am not letting you stay here.” He pulls her up unto his shoulder, and out of the dungeon.
She was hitting him on his back but he didn’t mind. He held her firmly until they got to her once upon a time room.
He drops her to her feet. “I said let me go!” She gave him a resounding slap. “Don’t you ever touch me.” Looks at the door, “Father, you’re here.”
She went to the door, hugging it. “Welcome home, papa. I have missed you so much.”
It pained him so much to watch her in this manner. He went to hold her but she ignored him, walking to the bed.
He angrily left the room to the physician, “I need your help.”
The physician followed him back to the room. He examined Theodora’s eyes, “She’s damaged her cells with too much thoughts.” He said.
” Can it be cured?” He asked, concerned.
“Hopefully. But it’s gonna take time.” He answered.
” How long will that be?”
” Days, weeks or even months, it depends how fast her cells can heal.”
” So, what now?” He asked again.
” I will start her treatment. Rest assure, we’ll get this over with as soon as possible.”
Raymond looked at her as she rolled herself on the bed sheets. ” Paradise, home. There is no place like home. Paradise, home. There is no place like home.”
” Why would you do this to yourself, Theodora? Why would hurt yourself just because of him?” He said mentally to himself.
” Who is the closest one to her?” He asked.
“Her maid.” Replied the physician.
“Who’s that?”
“Her name is Holland Skelton.” He answered.
He stared at her for the last time, he left. He ordered one of the guards to call Holland, asking her to meet him at the drawing room.
Holland came without a delay. “Your Majesty.” She bowed. “You sent for me.”
” I learned you were Lady Theodora’s maid.”
” You heard right, Your Majesty.”
” I need to know what happened to her. Why was she locked up in the dungeon?” He inquired.
” She didn’t commit any offense, Your highness. She only found out that King Kaleb was cheating on her over Sophie. Sophie made him order for her imprisonment and execution but she got saved by the Moon Goddess who asked her to return back to the cave until your rise.
She has been starved for this few days, and probably have been over thinking, I guess. That’s why she’s acting abnormal and talking to herself. That is all I know for sure. ”
” Why was she starved? ”
” Sophie gave the order. Well, Kaleb’s evil attitude were all because of her manipulation. He did loved Dora, but she casted a spell on him. I think that’s why he had a sudden change of attitude towards her.”
Since the conversation, she has been staring at the ground. For the first time she looked up at him. “You are our king now, you have control over everything. No one hoped for your return as much as she did.
Every single day she spoke of you. And despite being married to Kaleb, she never stopped hopping on you. You are the only one who can save her. I know she has been so stubborn for this few days but, I believe there is still a part of her that still needs you.
Please, save her. Bring her back to us. And I also know, deep inside your heart you feel hurt too. You want her back, don’t you? If not for anyone’s sake, but for your sake make her remember. ”
Holland’s words kept ringing in his head like sounds of alarm. He wouldn’t believe if anyone had to tell him Theodora still believed in him.
The pains of her erasing him off her mind, calling him a monster and spitting on his face that he deserves the curse.
He promised never to trust anyone. Even if he can’t trust her, he still has this part of him that wants to help, to save her.
Now he’s got two problems to solve. First, his crown and second… Her.
Since the physician isn’t sure of her recovery, how long does he have to wait for her to regain her senses?
To look into those eyes that once knew him. To see and believe that she indeed never stopped hopping on him.
To have the very person who was there for him in the time he needed someone.
Despite being so stubborn, and ignorant, she didn’t stop from answering his calls.
And he will h@ťě himself for not doing anything if all these gets worst.
