•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

King pulled out his fangs from Lilith’s neck and took a quiet step back, watching her closely and carefully.

What was that memory? He wondered, wiping the blood that had trailed down to his jaw off with the back of his hand, not taking his eyes off Lilith who had an emotionless and expressionless face.

King didn’t see the faces of those lovebirds clearly however, they seemed strangely familiar. It was as if he knew who they were. It was as if he was the boy. No, that’s impossible. He doesn’t recall any memory like that.

And he definitely hasn’t fallen in love before. Maybe the memory belonged to the s*x demon standing in front of him. Somehow, her blood is linked with the memory.

Lilith, on the other hand, was both shocked and angry. She least expected him to bite her. What was his intention? To ki|| her?

Her hand slowly moved to her neck and she ran her fingers through the bite mark, blinking her long eyelashes severally.

“You…” King began, grabbing her attention. “Did you see it too?” He asked, referring to the memory. Vision? Past? What was the better way to describe it? He doesn’t even know.

She pinched her brows together, giving him the ‘what are you saying?’ look.

“What was that? Why is your blood linked with that memory?” He asked.

Was she supposed to have an answer to that question? Maybe not. But he hoped she did. He h@ťěs being clueless and feeling dumb.

Lilith was silent for a while until she exploded like a timer bomb, yelling at the top of her lungs at him.

“You f-__-king bit me and you are here talking about memory? Are you crazy?” She snapped.

“Don’t talk to me in that manner,” He warned through gritted teeth.

“Or what? You are going to ki|| me?” She scoffed. “You bastard! How dare you make me feel like I had you charmed only to attempt ki||ing me?”

“My intention wasn’t to ki|| you,” He corrected.

“Then what? Wait,” She paused as a thought flooded into her head. Lilith immediately ran to the wall-length mirror and stared at the two pierced holes from the d@mn vampire bite. She felt two emotions radiating through her body; Anger and confusion. “Did you…mark me?”

King eyed her and suddenly burst out into fits of laughter, making her look stupid.

“Mark you?” He repeated. “First off, you are not my beloved. To break it down, you are not my soulmate. Secondly, why would I mark you? You mean absolutely nothing to me.”

“And yet, here you are. Do I need to remind you of your words earlier?” She stepped away from the mirror, advancing towards him. “You can’t get me out of your head. You want to f-__-k me so badly. Remember?” She smirked.

“Of course, I remember that.” He agreed. “Saying those things doesn’t make you my beloved, angel. You are a s*x demon. A wh-_-re by nature. You are the pleasure of all – Humans, werewolves, dragons, wizards or witches, sea creatures, and lastly, Vampires. You are nothing but a piece of $h|t made for the satisfaction of those with dark s*xual fantasies. You are not worth being my beloved.” He stated to her face, showing the disgust in his face.

Lilith shouldn’t feel bad about all that he has just said. Because honestly, they were the truth. She was a wh-_-re by nature. S*x is all every creature wanted from her and nothing more. However, why does she feel this pang in her heart at his words?

“I only wanted to give you pleasure. Vampires’ bite could mean a lot of things. One, to mark their beloved. Two, ki|| their prey. Three, give pleasure. Fourth, Pry into your past. Five, turn you into one of them. Six_”

“Enough!” She cut him off. “I don’t want to know. You know what? Get out of my room. Just go away.” She fired, her eyes switching to red. “I don’t want to ever see your stupid ugly face.”

King smirked. Did he strike a nerve? Maybe and he enjoyed being the pain of others. He was a proud sadist, who derives pleasure in causing other people/creatures pain and distress.

However, why can’t he get those images of the lovebirds out of his head? Why does the memory feel like a leech sticking to his head and refusing to come off?

Maybe they were an illusion. Yeah, it has to be. Moreover, she didn’t see the memory which means that it was either an illusion or an imagination. And as crazy as the latter may sound. He still hoped it was the figment of his imagination and not a forgotten memory.

“What are you still doing here?” She glared hard at him, balling her fist.

Lilith knew she was no match for him but she wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of seeing how intimidated she felt about him. She won’t let him see her fears.

“You are intriguing and interesting, angel. I don’t know why but you are like a book I desperately want to read. What are your secrets? Who really are you? I’m curious.” He shook his head. “I’ve never been this curious about another being before so be proud of yourself for getting my attention and having me this captivated.” He gave out a wry smile. “This won’t be the last time you will be seeing me, angel.” He winked, going towards the balcony.

“I am a demon,” She corrected for the hundredth time. She h@ťěd being referred to as an angel. Angels are too righteous and goody-good-shoes. She’s far from being righteous or holy. In sin, she was created and in sin, she will forever live.

King put on his hoodie over his head to avoid direct sunlight. He hopped up the railing and turned to face her once again.

“And oh, before I forget, the bite mark will be gone by the end of today. You’ve got nothing to worry about. See you…someday, angel.” He jumped down from the railing and varnished into thin air.

“I AM A DEMON!” She shouted, rushing to the balcony to look down at him but he was nowhere to be seen. “Bastard.”

“Miss…” Maria called out in a small voice.

“Get out of here!” Lilith said harshly.

The maid obediently left the room without arguing. She was like a puppet doing wh@ťěver her master wanted.

As soon as the door closed and Lilith was eventually left alone in her room, she went back to the mirror, stared at the bite mark, remembered the bastard who imprinted it on her and then insulted her. She couldn’t hold it in any longer.

“f-__-k!!!” She screamed, dark veins popping up on her neck and face.

She loathed that vampire.

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Beverly approached Brent who was standing in front of his locker with his two best buddies -Kevin and Dave.

As soon as they noticed her, the smile on their faces varnished and an indecipherable expression clouded their faces.

“Can we talk?” Beverly asked.

He lifted his gaze to meet hers, not hiding the confusion and surprise in his eyes.

“Uhm, okay?”

Kevin and Dave took the cue and walked away, leaving the couples to have their private conversation.

“Are you here to break up with me?” He raised a questioning brow.

“What? No! Have you thought of breaking up with me?” She threw the question back at him, sizing him up with her eyes.

“I love you,” He noted.

“Hmm.” She hummed, looking around to make sure that there were no students in the hallway. But unfortunately, some students were loitering around. “Come with me,”

••••

Brent and Beverly stepped into the female restroom and locked the door so as not to be disturbed.

They checked every cubicle to make sure that they were utterly left alone with no prying ears or eyes.

“What’s going on?” Brent queried as they were finally settled to have the conversation.

“Didn’t you hear the news?” She answered his question with one of her own.

“Uh…not really. I’m just arriving at school with my buddies. What’s happening?”

“Something good,” She curled her arms around his neck, stepping closer to him. “Honestly, I’m not mad at you anymore because of two reasons; One, I love you. Two, the good news I heard today.”

He tilted his head to the side, looking deeply into her eyes. “I’m curious now. Enlighten me, baby.”

“I love this arrogant and Ç0çƙy side of you.” She winked.

“Mm-hmm. You haven’t told me what’s making you this excited and more loveable, darling.” He stated.

“Esmeralda…the Ɓîtçh…is dead.” She notified.

Brent’s eyes widened and his body went limp.

“Wh…who’s dead?” He frowned.

“Esmeralda. Why do you look like this?” She eyed him, questioningly.

“Do you know what this means? You are a murderer, Beverly.” He pointed out the obvious.

She scoffed, rolling her eyes.

“You think like my mother. How am I a murderer? Didn’t you see the news on the internet? According to the narrative my mother sent to the press, Esmeralda committed suicide and it will forever remain that way. Why? Because she’s dead and I know you and the rest of the group won’t tell on me. Furthermore, a thief is not a thief unless he is caught. The same goes for a murderer. I am as innocent as every student in this school, babe.” She smiled broadly. “Now, f-__-k me.”

•••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

It smelled of blood, dirt, sweat, and soil. An old brick building can seen in the scene built in the middle of nowhere.

There were no other buildings around aside from thick trees, bushes, crawling insects, and the skeletons of human bodies. The exterior of the mansion looked abandoned and dead. However, the candlelight that gleamed from an open window said otherwise.

Kai arrived at the mansion and went inside, shutting the wooden door behind him, and headed upstairs, using the old creaky staircase.

He got to the top of the stairs and walked down the dark hallway until he reached a black giant door made of timber.

Kai knocked softly and waited for permission which didn’t come in immediately. He dipped his hands into his pants pocket, standing still in front of the door.

Finally, a feminine voice answered from inside. “Come in,”

He pushed the door open and strolled into the gloomy bedroom. An elderly woman can be seen standing by the window with her arms crossed over her chest.

“Mother,” Kai called out, standing behind her.

“How did it go?” She asked without turning around to take a look at his face. She didn’t care. She never did. And her children are already used to her nonchalant and vicious personality.

Karina is a woman who never displays affection, care, and love. Those feelings are for humans and she did everything to make sure her children didn’t experience those emotions.

“As usual,” Kai replied.

“Hmm.” Karina hummed, “Why is that girl hellbent on making me pissed?”

“She says the ritual almost ended her son’s life.” He blunted out.

She furrowed her brows, partly facing him. “The ritual saved his life.”

“The same thing I told her but she almost ki||ed me.” He stretched his muscles but felt no pain at all. He was healed from every injury Hannah had inflicted on him during that little combat at her house. He didn’t fight back because of two reasons – One, he was caught off-guard. Two, he doesn’t lay hands on women. He is a feminist who chooses to respect all women regardless of their originality.

Karina overlooked the humor in his sentence and said, “I think it’s high time I approach Hannah myself.”

“Good idea.”

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Lilith and her human parents were in the living room watching a reality show while eating from a bowl of popcorn. Although, Lilith wasn’t eating. She seeks something else. Something that will definitely quench her hunger and thirst. A human energy.

Because of that stupid vampire, she wasn’t able to feed off the maid, Maria. Lilith knows for sure that the girl was still feeling a little bit of sensation of what almost took place heretofore. She saw the lust and desire in the maid’s eyes when she was called downstairs to watch this silly show. Luckily, the bite mark on her neck was finally gone.

Lilith sat far away from her parents to avoid touching them. Apparently, the family of this girl was off-limit. She might not care about them or anybody, including the owner of this body she was occupying but nonetheless, she needs to give them respect. Even if it was little.

They heard the sound of the door and within seconds, Carmen and Camden appeared in front of them, seeming upset about something. Their hard gaze was mostly directed to their baby sister who showed no concern or fear at all.

“What is it?” Mrs.Brown asked.

“Rumors are going about that Esmeralda committed suicide and is dead.” Carmen voiced out.

“What?” Mr&Mrs.Brown gasped in shock, least expecting to hear this.

“It’s all over the internet.” Carmen produced her phone from her handbag and showed the headlines to her parents, her hard glare not leaving Esmeralda who was giving her a nonchalant stare.

“Do you have anything to say about this, Esme?” Camden questioned.

“No.” She shook her head, slightly shrugging her shoulders. “I don’t care what humans think of me. Whether I jumped off the building or not shouldn’t be anybody’s business. It’s my life, isn’t it?”

“Esmeralda!” Mrs.Brown yelled as she shot up to her feet. “How can you sit there and spew out that nonsense? Did you really commit suicide? I thought you said you don’t remember anything?”

“I don’t.”

“What’s up with this carefree attitude? When did you not care about what other people think of you? When did you become this way?” Camden asked.

Lilith said nothing.

“Now is not the time to scold Esmeralda. I’m sure she is as confused as everyone else here,” Mr.Brown rose to his feet, pulling out his phone. “I will take care of the media. The news will be brought down immediately.” He let out and walked away.

“I’m going to take care of Mrs.Chester. It seems like I’m being so lenient with her.” Mrs.Brown mumbled, grabbing her phone to dial the principal’s number when Carmen disclosed,

“Esmeralda was bullied in school.”

“What?” The woman frowned.

“Yes, mom. Esme was bullied by a group of students in school. Amongst the bullies was Beverly. Mrs.Chester’s daughter.” Camden added.

All eyes settled on Lilith. She stared back at them, lifting a single brow while tilting her head to the side.

So this Esmeralda of a girl was bullied. But why didn’t she fight back? Lilith wondered.

‘Could those bullies have been the ones to push her off the building? Were they the ones who inflicted the burn mark?’ She thought to herself.

“What are you going to say about this, Esme?” Mrs.Brown groaned.

Lilith smirked as she came up with one of her craziest plans. “I want to go back to school.”

Everyone exchanged glances.

“What did you just say? Didn’t you hear what we said?” Carmen shot. “Everyone in your school thinks you are dead!”

“Which is why I want to go back to school. Imagine the look on their faces when they see a dead girl walking into the building. Terrific!” She giggled in excitement, slowly standing up. “I can’t remember how I fell but I can figure it out if I go back to school.”

“And how will you do that?” Camden asked.

“I will see the look on their faces when they see me. Apparently, I’m dead to them so if I was really pushed to my death. The suspect will feel relieved because their secret will be saved with them and I, a supposed dead girl, won’t testify against him/her. Now what do you think will happen if I show up in school and cross paths with the suspect…what will be his/her reaction?”

“Fear,” Camden noted.

“Exactly.”

It was a good plan but also a crazy one. Mrs.Brown shook her head.

“No, I won’t let you take the chances. The suspect might attempt to ki|| you again.” She gasped.

“Don’t worry about that, mother. I am not the Esmeralda everyone knew before. We want to figure out the truth, don’t we? We can’t do anything without knowing what really happened. My memory is a blur. However, nobody will know that aside from you all, of course. According to them, I am Esmeralda with a complete memory.” She smirked.

“And who will be your targets?” Carmen quizzed.

“Her…my bullies.” She replied. “Beverly, right?”

“Beverly and her cohorts, yes.” Camden nodded.

“Then I can do this. They are just humans after all.”

‘Humans are no match for demons.’

People may wonder what her benefit in this is but that’s for only her to know.

Mr.Brown returned to the living room and saw the look on everyone’s faces.

“I…already asked them to take down the news. What’s wrong?” He asked.

Mrs.Brown cleared her throat and announced. “Esmeralda is going back to snowy high school.”

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Esmeralda stood in the back of the palace, staring into space. For some reason, her throat felt itchy and her body pale. She felt sick and it bothered her.

What’s wrong with her? She has been asking herself that very question for the past hours after returning from school.

“Lilith,” Delphine called out, approaching her best friend. Lou and Calliope weren’t with her. “Hey,”

Esmeralda turns to face the girl standing beside her. She unclenched and clenched her fist repeatedly, her face clothed in distress.

“Are you okay?” Delphine asked.

“I…blood.” Esmeralda croaked out.

“Blood?” Delphine repeated.

“I feel so hungry and…and…and…” She sighted a rabbit by the side of a tree and in a flash, Esmeralda was before the animal, sinking her teeth into its neck.

Delphine stood back, her eyes widening in shock.
