EPISODE EIGHTEEN (18)
The next morning I woke up very early and
prepared breakfast.
I prepared Cynthia’s favorite meal, fried yam
with vegetable egg sauce.
I took the food to her room. I gave her breakfast
in bed. She gave me a bombastic side eye. I
prayed within me that she shouldn’t reject my
food.
She collected the food tray and said,
“Thank you”
That was all she said and she started eating
the. She ate half of the food while I was still
standing.
She asked,
“can I please eat in peace? I don’t understand
why you are standing like a bodyguard”
I left her room after telling her to call me if she
needs anything.
Cynthia finished her food, took the plates to the
kitchen she washed her plates and cleaned the
kitchen.
She did not talk to me nor gave me a friendly
attitude.
In the afternoon I entered her room and asked,
“Cynthia my love please what will you like to
have for lunch”
She replied after thinking for some minutes,
“I will love to have pasta and grilled chicken.
The food shouldn’t be too spicy please but a bit
spicy won’t be bad”
I replied,
“at your service my love. Let me quickly rush
and buy it”
She replied,
“sorry I want home made”
Cynthia knew that I h@ťěd cooking but still
insisted on punishing me.
I rushed to the market and bought the
ingredients I will be needing.
I was done cooking after an hour. I served it on
the dining table.
I called her name and informed her that lunch
was ready she told me to bring it to her room.
I was already loosing it, but I kept my cool.
I took it to her room and served her the food
with wine. I wanted to leave her room when she
asked,
” Where are you going?”
I replied,
“I wanted to excuse you so you could enjoy your
meal”
she smiled and reply,
“you can stand. If you go who will pour me wine
when I need more”
I stood beside her while she enjoyed herself.
After she was done eating, She took her plates
to the kitchen and washed them.
I wanted to collect the plates andwash them but
she told me she wasn’t a cripple and could take
care of herself.
Her attitude continued till the next day I was so
feed up with what she had been doing.
I decided to surprise her. The next morning I
work very early prepared breakfast and kept it
beside her bed.
I rushed to the prison and paid for Chidi’s bail
which was 400k I took him to the spa where he
was cleaned up.
After the spa, I bought new clothes for Chidi.
In the evening we got back home, Cynthia was
already cooking I met her in the kitchen.
I greeted,
“babe your cooking ski||s is top notch. Someone
wants to see you”
She replied,
“I will check later as you can see an busy”
I replied,
“OKay I will tell the person to come back later”
She walked out on me to check who the visitor
was.
She got to the sitting room. it took her some
minutes to recognize Chidi.
When she did, she ran and hugged him so tight.
She asked,
” how did you come out”
Chidi replied,
“All thanks to Hardguy he paid for everything”
Her mood changed and she replied,
“oh that’s nice of him. So tell me how had it
been. Actually I was making egusi soup would
you want to join me?”
She dragged Chidi to the kitchen.
She finished cooking and served hers and
Chidi’s only.
Chidi asked,
“what of hardguy won’t he eat?”
she replied,
“Hardguy is fine.”
she turned to my direction and asked,
“Hardguy are you not fine”
I replied,
“am not fine I want to eat”
She turned to Chidi and said,
“forget about him his a joker. So tell me how
had life been?”
They started to vibe together. I felt left out.
I walked to the kitchen and I was surprised to
see that she actually made the soup for just two
people.
I made groceries with floating berries and
caramel.
In the evening I was in my room thinking on
how best to apologize to Cynthia but I couldn’t.
I carried the cloth, chocolate and gift box to her
room.
I entered, locked the door and said,
“It’s either you forgive me or non of us is going
out of this house”
I gave her the gift I brought.
She bursted in to laughter and said,
“I have forgiven you since. I saw the news online
a day before you did. I was just waiting for you
to bring my gifts”
She collected the dress to try it out.
I was in the sitting room when she came out in
the dress I bought looking all gorgeous.
She asked,
“how do I look”
I replied sarcastically,
“you look like a guy ready to play football”
I teased her and said,
“You look like my Cynthia whom I love”
she smiled and said,
“I missed my Hardguy”
We embraced each other and she said,
“one more person to apologize to”
I asked,
“Who? Linda? am not apologizing to Linda”
She smiled and said,
“Which Linda who Is Talking about her here”
I replied,
“but I thought you liked her?”
she replied,
“no be only like cherish nhi. Guy am talking
about Dorcas”
I replied,
“No it’s not needed she will think I have feelings
towards her”
She laughed and replied,
“and don’t you?”
I didn’t answer the question I was just looking at
her.
she asked again,
“answer my question don’t you have feelings for
her?”
I replied,
“something like that but you know me I can’t
love or be in a relationship with anyone. I will
just hurt that innocent soul”
She replied,
“don’t you think it’s time to stop all this rubbish
and focus. You are now a man and you need to
focus and stop playing around. I have broken
up with all the guys in my life since my last
incident and I want you to do same”
I replied,
“I will try and repent soon”
she replied,
“it’s not soon. From now hence forth, you have
to promise me not to have anything to do
school mothers, side hens and sugar mummies
or what you call it”
I promised Cynthia to change my ways and
start doing the right thing.
She stood up and said
“let’s go and get Dorcas”
I replied,
“it’s late already the time is 10 pm”
Cynthia looked at me and said,
“hope your are okay upstairs? You that wanted
to go out of the house by 1am and you are here
complaining. Guy just dress up or is Hardguy
now scared of a woman?”
I dressed up and Cynthia called Chidi to follow
us.
We booked a ride to her apartment. On our way I
begged Chidi and Cynthia to help me beg her
once we reach they both agreed.
Cynthia advised me to get Dorcas something
she loved. I bought suya and palm wine.
We got to her house, Cynthia and Chidi made
me to knock at the door. They said it was my
fight and I have to do it my self.
I knocked and she opened the door. When she
saw me she wanted to close it back but Cynthia
begged her.
Cynthia said,
“He told me that he had something to tell you so
we are leaving you guys, have a great night.
Chidi let’s get going”
I turned to Cynthia and said,
“yarinya (babe) these not what we planned”
she replied,
“plan with who guy goodnight I will see you
tomorrow”
Dorcas looked at me and said ,
“what do you have to say?”
I asked,
“can I please come inside let’s talk”
She looked into her room and said,
“ooh the last time I checked this was also your
house so should I leave”
I replied,
“Common Dorcas please let’s just talk”
She left the door open and went inside and I
followed her.
I got into the room and saw this dude he would
be in his early thirties.
He was eating inside her room. I hailed the guy
sat down.
it was q quite moment in the room.
The guy finished his food and said,
“Thanks you very much. I will come back
tomorrow to finish it”
He shaked me and left.
I turned to Dorcas and asked,
“you never told me you had a visitor I would
have just gone back home”
she replied,
“I never invited you in the first place”
I asked,
“Who is the guy?”
she asked,
“which guy?
I replied,
“the guy that just left”
She replied,
“and how is that your business?”
