He started the ignition and the car zoomed out of the company.
Throughout the drive to Hailey’s home, none of them said a word. The drive was quiet till they got to her house.
“Thank you for the drive” Hailey said when the car stopped just at their house.
“It’s fine,” Charles said.
“Make sure to get enough rest, goodnight Hailey” Charles said and the car drove off speedily.
Hailey watched the car till it drove out of sight before going into the house.
She met Leah pacing around the house worriedly.
“Mom!”
Leah turned and heaved a sigh of relief when she saw Hailey.
“Hey, what took you so long? Your dad and I were so worried” Leah said.
Hailey removed her shoes and walked to her, she pulled her to a brief hug.
“I was busy with work, Mom,” Hailey said. She walked to the kitchen and took a bottle of water from the fridge. She popped the cover open and gulped the water down her throat hungrily.
“It’s your first day and you’re already working your a*s out? That Boss of yours must be a devil” Leah said.
“He sure is,” Hailey agreed with a giggle.
“So, how’s it? Is the job okay?” Leah asked.
“Yes, it is. If not for the fact that my Boss is a Ďïčkhead” Hailey muttered.
“He must be, I wish I could just spank his head for making my daughter work out late” Leah said.
Hailey smiled.
“I wouldn’t mind tho”
Leah laughed.
“Have you eaten? I can prepare something for you” Leah said.
“No need, Mom. I just wanna sleep” Hailey said.
“By the way, how’s Jaime? Is he asleep already?” She asked.
“He’s been acting weird these days, I really hope he could talk to me about wh@ťěver is bothering him. I h@ťě seeing him that way” Leah said.
“What do you mean?”
“Since he returned from school, he hasn’t been himself. He even helped me in the restaurant today”
“Really?”
“Yes. Weird, right?”
“Totally” Hailey agreed.
“I’ll talk to him before I leave for work tomorrow. Goodnight, mom” she pecked Leah’s cheek before going to her room.
“Is that Hailey?” Sebastian asked, coming out of their room
“Yes”
“This is past 11, why’s she returning late?” Sebastian asked.
“There’s a lot to do at the company. Let’s go in, you can just see her tomorrow. For now, she needs to rest” Leah said.
Sebastian nodded in understanding and they both entered their room.

Hailey came out of the bathroom in her nightie, she lay on the bed and covered herself with the covers.
Her mind went to Charles and she bit her lips, remembering how she poured the coffee on him.
“Did I overreact?” She asked aloud.
“He shouldn’t have compared me to other girls, I just h@ťě it” she muttered.
She turned and faced the ceiling. She remembered how her Ex Boss fired her from working at the bar.
“He said it was his doing. Then the 200 thousand dollars was his doing too?” She gasped.
“f-__-k, why didn’t I think of that?” She covered her face with her hands.
Even though he acts like a jerk sometimes, she wouldn’t deny the fact that he has helped a lot in many ways.
That night, she made up her mind to apologize to him the next day.

NEXT MORNING***
Hailey was already having her breakfast by 6am, she intended to go to work early so she could finish the work she didn’t get to finish the previous day.
“Are you done?” Leah asked when Hailey carried her bag.
“Yes, I need to finish something. I’m afraid I won’t be able to see Jaime today, I’ll do that when I’m back” she said.
“Don’t overwork yourself, okay?” Sebastian said.
Hailey nodded with a smile. She kissed their cheeks respectively and bid them goodbye.
She took a cab and she arrived at the company in no time.
A few workers were already there when she arrived, she took the lift to the tenth floor and started her work immediately she settled down.

HOURS LATER***
Charles entered his office and almost immediately, Hailey entered too.
“Good morning, sir” she greeted with a smile.
That surprised Charles. Did she just welcome him with a smile?
“How was your night?” He asked.
“It was fine sir. I already submitted the files to you sir. It’s on the table” she pointed at the table.
Charles took a look at it before looking at her.
“When did you get this done?” He asked.
“This morning, sir. I arrived early just to finish it” she replied.
“Get me my coffee” he simply said.
“Right away sir” she left the office.
Charles picked the papers from the paper and began glancing at each one of them.
“She’s so good,” he muttered with a smile after he was done.
Hailey returned with the coffee and handed it to him.
“You did well, you can take your leave” he said but she remained standing.
He raised his brow.
“Do you need anything else?” He asked.
“I’m sorry. I was wrong to have poured the coffee on you yesterday, I was just mad” she muttered.
“It was wrong of me to have done that without your permission. I was at fault, I’m sorry too” he said.
Hailey smiled.
“So, are we good now?” He asked.
She nodded and turned to walk away.
“Erm…. You look beautiful,,, with your hair down” he said.
Hailey stopped on her tracks, she actually forgot to pack her hair as she was in a rush that morning.
She turned to look at him.
“Sir?”
“You should let it down more often, I love it that way,” he said.
“Er… Okay” she said awkwardly and quickly left the office.
Charles chuckled.
A message popped on his phone and he took it to take a glance at it.
His expression changed when he saw the news that just came up.
Alberto del Rosa and his lover Stephanie McKenna just returned from Paris, they’re currently at the airport.
“Now, it’s Alberto?” He chuckled darkly but that turned to an angry expression.
“I wonder how this is gonna last,” he muttered.

Hailey was busy checking some files when the intercom buzzed loudly. She sighs before picking it.
“Hello, this is Hailey Brooklyn from Monterio’s investment. How…”
“Meet me in my office” Charles said, cutting her off.
“Ok…” The call was already disconnected before she could finish her sentence.
“So Ç0çƙy” she shook her head. She stood up and picked a book from the table. She walked to his door and knocked it gently.
“Come in” she heard his voice. She opened the door and entered his office.
“What can I do for you, sir?” She asked.
“What’s my schedule for today?” Charles asked.
“You have a meeting today by 3pm” she said.
“And?” Charles asked.
“I think that’s all,” she said.
“Good”
“Is that all sir?” Hailey asked.
“Yeah, you can go”
Hailey turned and walked towards the door when he stopped her.
“Hailey” he called.
“Sir?” She turned to look at him.
Charles got to his feet, he inserted his hands into his pocket and took slow steps towards her.
“Is there something on my face?” Hailey asked as he kept staring at her.
He moved closer to her and placed his mouth beside her ears.
“You’re beautiful,” he whispered.
He pulled his head back a bit to stare at her face, his eyes flickered to her lips and the sudden urge to kiss it overwhelmed him.
“Your lips, it’s so segzy” he said.
Hailey scoffed.
“Are you flirting with me right now?” She asked.
“Is that what it looks like to you?”
“Then you have to try harder because it’s not gonna work on me” she puts her hand on his chest and pushes him slightly.
“Tch! So funny” she mumbled before going out of the office.
Charles chuckled in disbelief. Did she literally reject him right now???
