CHAPTER 07 — DREAMS AND NIGHTMARES.

★★★★★★

Lucille kicked off her shoes the minute she entered her apartment, feeling very happy that she had managed to get Dominique to open up to her. She still couldn’t believe that Claire Martin had betrayed him that badly, in high school she was very possessive of him – and it made everyone believe that she was madly in love with him then why the sudden change and betrayal? Lucille shook her head deciding not to dwell too much on Claire, she is here to help Dominique and that’s what she’ll do.

Soon enough she had freshened up and warmed up some leftovers as dinner and quickly went to bed but her dreams were far from pleasant.

Lucille tossed as she could see herself young and carefree again, dancing and singing with her mother as the drove through the town. It was the night, the night of the accident….a memory so haunting she had to block it out but why were they resurfacing.

“Mommy! Look, look!” A young – six year old Lucille called out, pointing outside the window.

“It’s a restaurant, honey. Don’t worry we’ll stop by after we see the dentist.” She promised.

“Yes!” Lucille squealed. She could remember how they drove to the dentist singing songs and learning new things. And on the way back disaster struck.

Her Mother- Dianne was smiling warmly at Lucille and the next minute a truck had hit them. “MOMMY!!” Two voices, Lucille could’ve sworn she heard two voices scream in the car but–

She woke up breathing heavily and once she looked around realizing everything was just a dream, she cried. Lucille couldn’t understand how and why, this horrible memory resurfaced. The incident alone caused her unimaginable pain, she blamed herself, she blamed her father and she even blamed the truck driver who had crossed their lane but no blame would bring back her mother, only self loathing and so she locked away the memory and threw the key.

And now, her thoughts managed to dig it up again but– she could’ve sworn she heard two voices scream in the car. Could it be? Was there someone with her other than the two of them? If so why couldn’t she remember it. The question swirling in her head was giving her a headache and so she decided to take a pandol and forget it ever happened.

But, could she really?

After Lucille left, Dominique had decided to go to the club, chill, drink and find a beautiful woman to spend the night with. Unfortunate for him, his mother had caught him just in time.

“Today, we are having a family dinner Dominique and you are going to stay whether you like it or not.” She told him sternly and that is how he found himself sitting with his family enjoying home made dinner. His father sat at the far end and his mother at the other and his sister at the side of his father and him at the side of his mother.

“This is delicious mama.” Ashely complimented as she cut through her steak. Round brown eyes and dark hair, she is an exact replica of her father.

“Your mother makes the best meals…” Dave points his fork towards her smiling, Becky blushes, twenty years of marriage and he still made her feel butterflies.

“So Dominique, how was your session today?” Dave asks, everyone turns their attention to him.

“It was good. We made progress today.” He answers honestly.

“That’s good son,” he nods “am proud of you and we just want you to know that no matter what we’ll always be there for you.”

“Thanks papa.” Dominique smiles, knowing that no matter what happened in the past – his family will still be there for him no matter what.

“So I’ll be going out tomorrow…..” Ashely begun,

“To where…. These days you just disappear without a trace.” Becky frowns.

“Mama… I just hang out with my friends.” Ashely chuckles nervously.

“They are a bad influence on you…” Dominique stated.

“Yeah, and as if your Playboy friends are a good influence on you.” Ashely snapped, Dominique scowled at her.

“No fighting during dinner!” Dave scolds.

“Sorry…” They apologized but still glared at each other. Dinner was spent in joy and bickering. Dominique couldn’t remember the last time he spent quality time with his family.

When they finally disappeared – to prepare for bed, Dominique had laid on his king sized bed smiling anticipating his next session with Lucille not knowing he was going to get more than he bargained for.
