CHAPTER TWELVE: CHLOE’S ANGER 1
Chloe look at his eyes, clearly they was determination in them, he meant what he said ” go back to your quarters, I have issues to tend to ” and just like that, he dismissed me, did I somehow annoyed him? Was I too straightforward.
” Milford” I call out his name, he look at me with a furrow brow ” one will think that you’re upset with me ”
” Upset?” He didn’t frown nor did he smile ” you gave me no reason to be upset with you, you need to marry me even when you care about me not and strangely enough, I am doing as you say ” he step closer ” people might think you have some sort of control over me ”
” I choose not to ask why you agree to marry me ”
” Then it is settled ” he take off his jacket ” go back to your chambers Chloe, I need to think ”
” It is still noon ” I mumble ” I have nothing else to do today ”
” Did I come to the castle to do your bidding?” He frown ” I simply told you, I need to think, so please, kindly leave ”
” It is not something to get worked up about ” leaving his chamber, I shut the door behind me, for some reason I feel accomplished but same time sad, sad for many reasons, xilber. I won’t be able to marry him.
Even when I heart him, I still can’t marry him.
Why do I live such a life, so sad and pitiful but then why would Thanatos choose to marry me even when he will gain nothing from me, he doesn’t want to have segz with me, he obviously doesn’t love me, so why? It’s somewhat fishy.
” Chloe ” I stop walking when my eyes land on xilber and his guards approaching my direction, any normal person of high status will stand, I ought to stand and speak to him but curse my legs, I had no idea when I ran.
It was the third time I ran with full strength, I arrive in my chambers trying to catch my breath, I clench my hands to my chest, expecting to experience the usual pain but it never came.
” Why do I feel restless but yet no pain?” I sit on my bed ” is something about to happen? Something i won’t be excited about or something I won’t enjoy ”
” You certainly don’t think running will be enough ” my gaze move to my door, I stand up immediately.
” Lord xilber ”
” Did I displeased you?’ he mumble after shutting the door, leaving both of us alone in my chamber
” Of course not ”
” Chloe ” he move closer and study my face carefully ” do you fancy me?”
” Pardon?” I gasp, looking up to meet his gaze, he look somewhat angry.
” Do you plan on staying with Thanatos ” he scoffed ” probably you have listen to the rumor and thinking since he haven’t touched a woman before if you give yourself to him, he will be satisfied ”
I frown ” why do you wish to make me your queen when you don’t love me?” Mumbling, I clench my hands ” I know fully well you don’t, you told me you will never feel same way”
” That was two years back ” he frown ” do you think I will come to this empire if I don’t heart you?”
” My king!!”
He hold my hand and pull me close ” do not make a mistake you will regret, Thanatos is a lot more horrible than anyone ”
” What are you saying?”
” He is worse than a devil ‘ xilber mumble ” don’t you feel the darkness around him? ”
Pulling my hands out of his, I step back ” that has nothing to do with you, it’s my decision” my words must have made him angry, that is one character lord xilber has that is horrible, once he don’t get what he wants, he will want to ruin your self confidence.
” You must really be happy that two men want someone who have been touched ” he chuckle ” you’re not even a virgin” I see no aim in replying his words, the world has already made it horrible for women who has been touched, to feel like some dirty thing but men on the other hand get pride in the amount of women they sleep with.
” You’re right ” I smile ” someone who has been defiled wouldn’t possibly become your queen, people will talk ” I try to fight back my boiling anger, I do not want to say something that might get me hanged.
Xilber rub his face with his hands ” that’s not what I mean ”
” Am sorry for misunderstanding you milord ”
” Chloe !!!” He growl ” I was the one who touched you ” he clench his hands ” I have to make amends, even if I did all that because I was drunk I should….”
” Stop ” his words are painful, keep reminding me that, during that night he thought I was Freya ” it was my fault, if I had left, you wouldn’t have been obligated to marry me, rest easy….I wasn’t pregnant, if I was, a child would have been somewhere around here”
” That’s not what I mean ”
” You wanted Freya not Chloe and I was stupid enough to think you will feel same for me if I let you bed me ” the noise outside caught my attention ” excuse me ” walking out of my chamber I frown at the sight of Freya, she look young again.
What’s going on?
” Thanatos must be an angel ” the maids murmur
” The moment he mentioned getting married to Freya today, she got back to normal ” I frown at that, Thanatos is supposed to marry me!!!!!!
” It must be fate ”
” Did you hear ” another maid run to meet them under the blossom tree ” lord Thanatos also decided to marry Chloe first thing tomorrow morning ”
They gasp ” you mean princess Chloe will be his second wife?” This must be a joke, it can’t possibly be real, Thanatos said nothing about marrying Freya, even if he wants to….why must I be his second wife?
Ignoring lord xilber I fasten my steps towards Thanatos quarters but Freya stop me on my way, I h@ťě this face of hers, even if she is beautiful, she shouldn’t have this much pride ” I told you Chloe ” she smile ” the gods are on my side ”
” I have no business with that ”
” But you seem so angry ” she move closer ” could it be because I will marry lord Thanatos? It’s not a surprise that he want two wives”
” Move away Freya ” I fold my hands into fist ” I have no patience for this ” $h00ting a glare her way, she clear her throat and did as I said.
Arriving in his chambers, I didn’t bother to knock, just open the door, step in, shut the door and look at Thanatos who is standing close to his window, his back to me ” you must have heard of the news”
” What are you planning”
” Planning?” He mumble calmly ” I thought all you cared about is to marry me ”
” Lord Thanatos”
” Am not the first man in your life ” he turn around and look at me, why is he looking this angry, I should be the one angry ” why do you think you’re allowed to be my first wife then?”
” Aren’t you taking this too far?” I move closer to his direction, my gaze not breaking from his ” we made a deal!!!”
” And I will fulfill it ” he smile ” tomorrow morning, just like we agreed ” he move closer and I step back ” you don’t control me Chloe, nobody does and do you know why?” He lean close and whisper” because am a god ” after that he walk out of the room, already fully dressed for the marriage.
Standing still, i clench my hands, things are not working according to my plans. My chest pain begin and I gasp out of pain, this is too much for me to handle.
