It was Jewel’s birthday. The maids and workers were running around decorating, cooking and preparing all sorts ot things for the birthday party.
Of course it was going to be one of the biggest birthday party ever thrown. The party was going to hold in the evening, all her school mates and friends were invited.
Krystal and Fernando were out for work, they were to come back at noon though to join in the preparation.
Jewel ran to the door immediately she heard the door bell. She needed no soothsayer to tell her who it was.
Eyes!!!, she screamed as she opened the door.
Hello Bowel, Miles waved. Jewel rolled her eyes.
Miles shoved her aside and came in.
What’s up, how is the preparation going?, he asked.
What do you think? Isn’t it looking grand?, Jewel asked. Miles chuckled.
Happy birthday kiddo, Miles said rubbing her hair. He knew she would be mad but he wanted to tease her.
What kiddo??, Jewel frowned
Aren’t you a kid? You were a fifteen year old kid yesterday and today you are a sixteen year old growing child, Miles said.
You big eyed tortoise!!!!, You are also the same with me. You are just older than me with few months!, Jewel snapped.
Big eyed tortoise!!!, I told you not to call me that, Miles snarled. Jewel stuck her tongue at him.
You are so dead!, Miles said and began to fold his sleeve.
That’s if you get me, she said.
Miles threw a pillow at her and she dodged it
He threw another one again, she tried to dodge it as she died before but she failed.
You son of a tortoise!!!, she screamed and grabbed the pillow.
Stop calling me tortoise!!, Miles yelled. They both threw the pillow at each other and stared at each other angrily.
Why should I stop?, Jewel scoffed.
You are so annoying, do you know that, Miles snapped.
Yeah, says a mature kid. Why do you want to cry? Because I called you tortoise?, Jewel asked.
Who said I wanted to cry. If anyone should cry, it should be you, Little Miss slug, he mocked.
You!!!! You are so dead today!!!, Jewel screamed but at that moment Chelsea rushed in crying.
Chelsea what’s wrong with you?, Miles asked.
Big sis please help, she wailed.
What’s happened?, Jewel asked.
The…….c…..ar, Chelsea stuttered.
Don’t tell me you broke Dad’s car, Jewel scoffed.
No…no…no…I…the……keys…..the keys, Chelsea hiccupped.
Wait don’t tell me…….you drove your dad’s car!!!, Miles screamed.
Huh!!!!!
I didn’t mean to, Chelsea cried.
Oh Chelsea what have you done, Jewel scolded.
I bumped the car into the wall, Chelsea sobbed.
Jeez!!!!
Jewel and Miles immediately made their way to the car pack with Chelsea trailing them.
Oh my God, Chelsea!!!!!. What are you going do??? It is bad, Jewel exclaimed when she saw the car.
Chelsea had probably tried to drive it but she left the gear on reverse. It moved backwards and hit the wall, breaking the bumper.
I just wanted to drive like you, Chelsea sobbed.
What do you mean?? I am just learning how to drive. I’ve not gotten my license yet so I can’t drive for now. How can you do this. You are just fourteen, Jewel snapped.
I am sorry. Please help me dad will definitely ki|| me, he won’t let me off, she cried.
How can I help you? Am I a mechanic?, Jewel scoffed
Miles please help me, help me, Chelsea cried.
Chelsea I…. Fine stop crying okay, just stop crying, Miles told her.
Jewel!, Chelsea cried. Jewel sighed.
Fine then. I can take it to the mechanic and bring it back before noon, she said.
Jewel are you crazy?? You are going to drive? You haven’t gotten your license!!, Miles snapped.
It’s just for today, I won’t do it another day, Jewel said.
But still…….
Common Miles, look at Chelsea crying her eyes out. Dad will definitely not let her go, Jewel said.
But still……
It’s my birthday, I don’t want anyone to get punished, Jewel said. Miles sighed.
Fine then, he shrugged.
You are coming with me right, she asked him.
Like I have a choice, he mumbled. She rolled her eyes.

Why do you insist on doing this. I am actually worried, what if something happens?, Miles asked.
They were already on their way to the mechanic.
It will be fine. Don’t worry I will try to dodge checkpoints, Jewel said.
You never listen to anyone do you?, Miles sighed. Jewel chuckled.
Bills on you, she said
You are kidding right?, why would I pay the bills, he scoffed.
For your sister-in-law remember, Jewel said.
Still on that again?, Miles scoffed.
Yeah hubby, Jewel said.
Miles felt happy deep down but he knew she was definitely joking. Jewel jokes a lot and most of what she says should not be taken seriously.
He always had a crush on her since they were little kids but then……
Anyway he was going to confess his feelings after her birthday.
What if I refuse to get married to you?, he asked.
Then I will kidnap you and get married to you, she replied. He burst into laughter immediately.
You are really crazy Jewel, he laughed.
So what did you get me for my birthday?, she asked.
Am I supposed to tell you that? I will give you when it’s time, He said. She scoffed.
They got to the mechanic workshop and she tried to stop but then the brake wasn’t working.
What’s wrong?? Shouldn’t we stop here?, Miles asked.
There’s something wrong with this car, the brake isn’t working, She said worriedly.
What!!!!!!
What do you mean?, he asked.
She tried stepping on it harder but to no avail.
Jewel watch out!!, Miles screamed. She was about to hit a little boy so she swerved the car to another lane.
I am calling the cops, Miles said and brought out his phone immediately.
No don’t do that, my dad will find out everything and Chelsea will be in trouble, Jewel said.
Are you still thinking of that!!! We will die!! This isn’t an little matter, Miles snarled.
Jewel sighed.
f-__-k where the hell are we?? There is no network here!!, Miles screamed.
There is a cliff in front, Jewel said. Her voice was so down. One could tell she was really scared.

Miles ruffled his hair in frustration.
Let’s try to jump out, Miles said.
Don’t you know we might die!!! This thing is moving to fast!!, Jewel yelled.
We will die either ways so what’s the need?, Miles scoffed.
By then they were already approaching the cliff.
Miles if you survive tell Chelsea, mum and Dad that I love them, Jewel said.
Jewel, Miles called. He was already crying.
They finally got to the cliff and……….
Miles I love you!!!!, Jewel screamed.
Miles slowly turned to her.
Are you kidding me?, he whispered.
I love you, and I wanted to get married to you. I wasn’t kidding. But now I……..
Wait are we still on land?, she asked looking around. The car tilted at that moment.
I think something is holding it, Miles said.
Don’t worry we will be okay, nothing will happen to us, they will find us, Miles said but his voice wasn’t stable. She knew he was also afraid.
She looked out the window and realized that she couldn’t leave from the door because it was facing the cliff.
The car tilted again.
Miles the car will fall soon!!, the rock can’t hold on for long, and I can’t leave, Jewel said.
Miles??
He looked outside and then back at her.
I will leave first, I will go ask for help, He said
Are you running away?, she asked.
Running? Why would I do that? I can’t leave you, he mumbled.
Just kidding, she chuckled.
How can you joke at a time like this!, he snapped.
The car tilted more.
You are the only one who can leave the car now, so sorry for dragging you into this, it’s all my fault,she said.
That not true, Try to hold on I will be back immediately, he said before opening the door. He carefully stepped out and turned back immediately.
Jewel wait for me please, he begged. She nodded. He glanced at her before running off
Not less than one minute later, the car tilted again, this time it was clearly loosing balance.
Miles!!!!, someone help!!!, Jewel screamed loudly.
Miles!!!!, she screamed already crying. She saw him from afar at that moment Miles turned back too.
Jewel!!!!!!, he screamed.
Their eyes met for some seconds before, the car crashed.
Miles watched the car fall, while he could do nothing apart.
Slowly he felt himself falling to the ground and blacking out.

Miles woke up breathing heavily.
He had laid on the couch when he went home and he fell asleep.
He had his nightmares as usual but this time…….
What was that?, he mumbled.
Why did I see someone pushing the car? Is there something I don’t remember?? And who was pushing the car???
