CHAPTER THIRTY EIGHT & NINE : LACEY
ESCAPE
I waited, thinking of all
the scenarios I can get and the possibility of
that man getting back into this room. I stood up
slowly, move to the window, look outside and
spot two guards at the exit, how am I supposed
to escape this when they are standing there?
Is they supposed to be another way out of this
place?
Turning around, I stare at a gun, behind the
chair, did Angelo leave it there? Walking close, I
pick it up, the fact that I have no idea how they
$h00t a gun didn’t bother me, I mean how hard
can it be? I have watch movies where they just
pull the trigger.
Opening the door gently, I look left and right, no
body in sight, breathing in…I decided to walk
right, praying it’s the right way out of this hell
hole… Footsteps alert me, I fasten my steps.
” The boss ask us to check up on her ” hearing
that voice and knowing they are almost coming
to view, I rush in the only door close to me in the
hallway, closing it, I turn around and gasp,
trying my best to catch my breath.
Looking at the room, I frown, pictures of Arthur
everywhere, it literally shows that this man must
have been stalking on Arthur for a long time.
A particular picture got my attention, I move
close and stare at the picture, it was him on the
roof with a little girl, that little girl was me…..
does this mean that the man trying to ki||
himself years back was Arthur?
Unbelievable.
I cover my mouth, who could have think that I
would fall in love with someone that older than
me” are you sure she is not in her room?”
Hearing that voice, I look around and then
decided to hide in the closet, my heart won’t
stop beating.
Holding the gun, I try to make sure my hand is
not trembling.
” What do you mean by that ” he growl ” five of
my men are dead?”
” It has to be Arthur ” that’s Angelo voice ” I saw
few of his guys hiding in the forest ”
” You saw!!!” He growl, my try to peep, looking at
them, I could see anger in his face ” you didn’t
try to ki|| them? One will think you wish to
betray me ”
” Pond ” Angelo gasp ” do you think I will go this
far, if I want to get you ki||ed?”
” Indeed ” pond frown ” that way you will get my
people to work under you, why should I trust
you?” Pond pull out his gun and point at Angelo
” is not like we are brothers,even brothers ki||
one another. How am I sure you are not the one
that help lacey ”
” Why will I help her?” Angel growl ” she means
nothing to me, I don’t are about her ”
” I know that ” he nod ” if we don’t find her,
consider Monica. The love of your life dead ”
” You wouldn’t dare ” Angelo warn, the first time,
I saw anger in his eyes ” she is not to be
touched ”
” Try me ” pond walk away after that, I didn’t try
to step out, who knows. Angelo might change
his mind and try to get me, closing my eyes, I try
to think clearly, they is no way I can escape this
place, guards are everywhere.
I have to think outside the box here, outside this
room, what is one thing that people do in this
situation?
” I don’t think she is out yet ” I listen to Angelo
make a phone call ” am not stupid enough, it’s
only though her that I would be able to find the
gold” gold? Arthur mentioned something about
him having gold’s in his home.
I only thought of it has an excuse to not leave
that house ” what do mean?” Angelo stood up
from the bed ” how can Arthur find this place?
That too this fast?” Silence remain in the room ”
do you think he is with Christine?”
Pond did mention something about Christine.
If Angelo is this shock about Arthur coming, that
only mean that the people hiding in the forest
are his men not Arthur’s. That means me going
out right now is not safe.
Bending down, I hug the gun to my chest, I
should just wait here, if anyone finds me out, I
will make sure I $h00t him or her.
I just have to wait for Arthur, he will come for
me.
” If he ki||s her, that will only put lacey in danger
” Angelo voice echo in the room ” am sure he
knows how pond loves that woman ” his
footsteps slowly fade away, sound of the door
shutting close.
My close my eyes and try to calm myself, doing
anything harsh will only put me in danger but
same time, I can’t stay like this, I have to do
something about this.
Getting out of the closet, I look outside the
window, no guards, this room seem to be at the
back area. Moving to the door, I lock it. Grab
clothes from the closet, tie each end together
and then to the bed.
Testing it, I nod to it’s thickness, it won’t lose on
the way…it better to leave here, that way I can
run into Arthur in the forest.
Throwing the joint clothes out of the window, I
place the gun in my mouth, my teeth holding
them before slowly climbing down, praying to
God for it not to cut out of the blue.
Successfully stepping down, I turn around, only
for my smile to vanish, pond stood there with
four other guys, he look so angry that I knew
that I have made a very big mistake, I should
have been more careful ” what is this?” He growl
” running from me before the show even starts?”
” Is not right ” I lift the gun and point it straight
at him ” don’t think I can’t $h00t you ”
” Don’t think?” He furrow his brows ” I was not
thinking anything” I watch him lift his gun ” I
was only wishing we could $h00t each other at
same time” Am not sure if am aiming at him
correctly ” the way you are holding the gun ” he
grin ” one will think you don’t know how to
$h00t ” I swallow and he chuckle ” just as I
thought, you really thought you can ki|| me?”
” Let her go ” I look behind and feel relief at the
sight of Arthur, ten people standing behind him.
Arthur didn’t move
another step from his position, getting her this
fast wasn’t in my plans, it’s a miracle am here
right now, I stare at lacey scared expression, her
hands trembling with the gun”let her go” I growl
and everyone turn around.
Pond gaze didn’t waver, that hatred intensified ”
where is Christine?” He look at my empty hands
and then back to my face ” where is she ?” I grin
” Dead ”
” You wouldn’t”
“Am not foolish pond ” frown creep into my face
” even after giving her to you, am pretty sure you
plan on ki||ing lacey, that has always been your
plan”
” So what do you plan on doing now ?” He grin ”
one more step and lacey dies ”
” You must have forgot who is the boss”
clapping my hands, my men hidden in the
forest, $h00t, ki||ing every other guns standing
next to pone but what I didn’t calculate is how
fast he has always been.
Before I could step forward, he is already
standing behind lacey, gun pointed at her head ”
one more step ”
” Don’t do this ” I growl ” she has nothing to do
with any of this ” my gaze move to meet lacey,
how scared she is, her whole body trembling.
” You didn’t think of any of these when you tried
to ki|| my family…..you ki||ed everyone I have
ever known ” pond growl ” haven’t you heard to
karma before?”
” Let her go pond ” I mumble ” I know what you
want, the gold…I will give it to you!!!”
” It has always been mine!!!! You stole it!!!!” He
drag lacey with him as he slowly retreat into the
forest ” do not even think of $h00ting me, lacey
will di……” He couldn’t complete his sentence
before lacey use her leg to step on his, that too
hard, he let go of her and I watch her run
towards me.
My heart sink.
That was a wrong move, pond quickly fire his
gun, everything happened right before my eyes,
my men $h00t him right to the heart while he
$h00t lacey from behind, I watch how she stop
moving.
” Lacey?”
She fell to the ground, pain evident in those eyes
” lacey ” I rush to her, bend down, holding her
body close to mine ” are you okay?”
” Arthur?”
Tears drop from my eyes ” you will be fine, I will
get you to the hospital, everything will be
alright” she slowly lift her hand to touch my
cheek, tears swell in her eyes ” don’t you dare
leave me” I was losing my mind… No, I was
losing myself
” I….I ….” She cough blood out and I shake my
head
” Don’t try to talk ” lifting her up in my hands, I
fasten my step, not caring one bit about any
other thing, I have to get her to the hospital.
” Arthur ” she gasp, her hands touch my cheek
once more ” am feeling sleepy ”
” Don’t sleep, try to stay awake ”
” I can’t” she smile ” I feel really tired right now,
maybe I should sleep ” tears drop from my eyes
” just for a little while ”
” No, don’t sleep” I growl
Dropping her in the passenger seat, I shut the
door, rush over to the driver’s side, open the
door, sit down and close it shut ” the key, where
is the god d@mn key ” my gaze move back to
lacey, her eyes close shut ” lacey?” I touch her
cheek, trying to wake her up but she won’t
bulge.
I look at the blood in my eyes ” it can’t be ” trying
to catch my breath, I turn on the car, refusing to
believe anything. This can’t be my karma. Not
yet.
