Episode 16

Adam walked into his office, his cell phone pressed over his ear as he silently listened to the voice from the other line.

Few minutes later, he closed his eyes and sighed angrily. “She really spent the night in his house?” He asked and silently listened again.

“Okay. Your report has been heard by the mighty one. I will do something about it.” Adam grumbled and brought down the phone from his face.

He held the phone, adding unnecessary pressure on it due to his anger.

“That guy has really crossed the line this time around. He has really crossed the line.” He said heavily and took hold of his cellphone again and dialled a number.

Lucio walked into her baby’s room, holding a small bowl containing his milk. Wendy had gone for a shirt break and she decided to stay behind and take care of him pending the time she would be back.

“It’s time to eat your lunch cutie.” She mumbled softly going towards the bed.

She carried the baby into her arms and smiled as he sucked his hands. “I’m sorry I’ve not been a good mommy, Brian but I always try my best not to think about myself alone.

“Your daddy is to be blamed for all this. He’s being a Ďïčk.” Lucio mumbled as she fed the boy.

After she was done, she lured him to sleep and laid him back in his bed before sitting down to think.

She thought about what Mrs Williams, Adam’s mom had said about Adam trying to get married to someone else.

No matter how she tried to ignore it, she just couldn’t.

All these while, she acted as though she never loved Adam even after she got pregnant for him but the truth of the matter was she has always liked Adam.

She saw him as someone who wouldn’t give up easily and was hoping he would one day love her but with the new development, she knew it was not gonna be possible unless she took some drastic measures.

“What if I pay him a surprise visit with Brian? That might just ruin all his precious plans. Hmm. We should do that, Brian. Let’s destroy daddy’s evil plans of getting us out of his lives.” Lucio said and smiled evilly.

That was exactly what she was gonna do. A surprise visit.

Jocelyn sat in the living room, talking with Paula over the phone while she fed on the bowl of popcorn in front of her on the couch.

“Come on Paula…..you know I’ve got a lover now. I’m no longer so free.” Jocelyn said as she dipped her hand into the bowl, scooping up more popcorn.

“Oh come on….it’s not that you are married to Eddie.”

“I’m going to his office tommorow. I’ve not been there since we started dating.”

“Okay. I think that’s great. You should do everything now to be his favourite.” Paula said from the other line.

Jocelyn laughed. “I’m already his favourite you dummy. I love him so much, bestie. He’s all I need.”

“Funny how you never felt that way with Adam.” Paula mumbled and Jocelyn scoffed.

“Don’t dare to compare Adam to Eddie. He’s nothing like him. Adam is a monster. I can see through him.”

“I have to go, Joe. My mom wants me to accompany her to the hospital today.”

“Is she still feeling pains after her surgery? Aww…my regards to her honey. Yeah. Bye.” Jocelyn cut the call and sighed.

“Gross.” She mumbled, thinking about Paula’s mom who did fats transferring surgery. She imagined what it would look like; transferring fats from her tummy to her bum. She giggled at the thought of it. She’d never do that.

“What are you thinking about?” Angeline asked, coming down from the stairs.

Jocelyn smiled and looked up at her. “I thought you went out for a business meeting mom.”

“It was postponed darling.” Angeline replied with a deep breath. She sat across and Jocelyn and looked at her. “I will be traveling three days from now.”

Jocelyn raised an eyebrow. “Where mom? You sound too serious. Are you okay?”

Angeline smiled and nodded. “Yeah.” She replied casually.

Jocelyn stared at her mom and noticed there was a streak of tears on her left cheek. She’d been crying! No…. her mom was not alright. “Mom….tell me what’s going on. What’s it?” She asked, lifting up her bowl of popcorn and placing it on the small stool beside her. She stood up and slowly walked to her mother.

“Look at you mom. You are crying. Tell me…. what’s wrong?”

Angeline sighed and held her hand, drawing her down to seat beside her. When Jocelyn was seated beside her, she looked at her. “You and your dad are getting a divorce.” She announced.

Jocelyn gasped and moved back a bit, as if rechecking her mom. “Who are getting a divorce?”She asked again, as if making sure.

Angeline was silent. Rather, she began to sob.

Jocelyn scoffed. “What happened? What the hell happened!!” She screamed.

Eddie called Jocelyn’s line for the umpteenth time few minutes after he got home in the night but she hasn’t been picking up and it was getting him worried.

He sent her a text message and still, there was no reply from him.

“Eddie?” Leo called from behind.

He was standing in the living room with his cell phone. He turned to look at Leo. “Why are you just coming home now? Are you coming back from school?”

“Of course. Where else?” Leo retorted and was about walking away then stopped when he noticed Eddie’s mood. “Bro….are you okay?”

Eddie sighed and walked to the window. “I’m fine.”

“No you are not. What’s wrong?”

“She has not been picking my calls. I don’t think she’s alright.” Eddie said, turning to look at Leo.

“Oh….that must be the Jocelyn girl mom told me about. I wish I was here when she came visiting so I can finally see that girl that has stolen your heart.” Leo said and winked.

“You are so annoying. Did you hear me? She has not been picking!”

“Then go to her house and see her tommorow. That’s all.” Leo replied, scoffed and walked away.

Eddie stared after him and breathed in. Yes, he would see her tomorrow at her house. He should.
