THREE WEEKS LATER

SWIM BUILDING

“Go Swayer!” Anna cheered as Swayer and three other girls were in a swimming tryout with Swayer leading of course.

“She’s like a fish.” Miss Diane complimented as she watched Swayer as well. Most of the boys had volunteered for football and since the swimming competition was the day after the match, they decided to use girls so as not to stress the guys too much.

Swayer finally got to the end before the other three and Anna rushed to her with a towel.

“Thanks Annie.” Swayer said with a smile.

“Annie?” Anna chuckled as she followed Swayer. They stopped Infront of miss Diane and she smiled at Swayer.

“You’re a pro.” Diane said and Swayer bounced her head.

“I know.” She said raising her head up and Anna hit her head a bit, causing miss Diane to laugh.

“I guess the winner is set then.” She said before leaving.

“Gosh at least I know our house will have one medal thanks to you.” Anna said with a sigh.

“One medal? What about other competitions?” Swayer furrowed her brows.

“Until then, for now our swimming medal is set.” She chuckled and ruffled Swayer’s wet hair.

They got to the locker room and Swayer changed into a dry clothe before they left the building.

“Heard the exam time table is out.” They heard a male voice from behind and turned to see Kyle.

“Hey dude. Where’s your girlfriend?” Swayer asked with a smirk.

“She’s not my girlfriend.” Kyle groaned.

“She told everyone you two are dating, now it’s either she lied or you haven’t changed.” Anna rolled her eyes.

“Maggie isn’t my type.” Kyle muttered.

“And yet you’re f_cking her? Gosh, you’re unredeemable.” Swayer chuckled.

“Can we go back to the exam time table part please?” He pleaded and they both laughed at him.

“Honestly I can’t wait for it to come. I’ll definitely smash it.” Anna said raising her chin high.

“And I heard that when a statement begins with honestly, it ends with a lie.” Swayer said and Anna glared at her before laughing a bit.

“Have you girls settled things with Maeve?” Kyle asked and both Anna and Swayer stopped walking. They faced each other before turning to Kyle with a frown on their faces.

“Why would you bring her up?” Anna asked still frowning.

“Oh come on, it’s been more than a month since it happened. I know Maeve and from her recent behavior, it’s obvious she’s sorry.”

“The last time I remember, you were the one who broke up with her and then body shamed her on the Slap.” Swayer said giving him a hard glare.

“Yes I did stupid things but I’ve changed now..”

“The only thing you changed is your school spirit, nothing else.” Anna cut him off.

“I’m just saying, speak with her at least.” Kyle said with a shrug before walking away.

“Who does he think he is?” Anna scoffed and faced Swayer but the look on her face told her she’s considering what Kyle said.

“Sway Sway don’t tell me you’re actually going to do what he said.”

“He has a point. I’ve also noticed how secluded Maeve has become..”

“She’s been that way even before we became friends.” Anna cut her off.

“Exactly my point. I think it’s best we talk to her, I kinda miss us.” Swayer muttered.

“If she was missing us then she would have come to us herself to apologize so it’s of no use. She might just backstab us again.” Anna said with a frown.

“Anna, you of all people should know that leaving high school with a grudge is a bad omen. It’s not the best thing to do. I’m not saying we trust her, I’m just saying we make peace.” Swayer said with a smile.

“Gosh Swayer. your free spirit is what’s giving people chance to hurt you but I won’t stop you if you feel it’s best.” Anna said with a sigh and walked ahead while Swayer followed her with a smile.

CAFETERIA

Natasha and kandle were the last to join the table. Everyone had the same meal since that’s what was prepared.

Their cook had fallen ill and her replacement didn’t know she was meant to make variety and not just one meal for the students.

“Gosh I h@ťě pickles.” Fabiola pouted as she stared at the burger on her tray.

“Then just take it out and eat.” Shaun groaned and Chrystal laughed at him.

“You should get use to her now so she’ll be tolerable after your marriage.” She joked and Shaun choked on his own saliva.

“Ma..marriage?” Fabiola stuttered, blinking severally. She was just 18 and marriage has never for once crossed her mind.

“It was only a joke! You should see your faces!” Chrystal laughed even harder that she began choking.

“Here you go strawberry.” Ethan said as he handed her his water bottle.

“Wow, strawberry? Now I wish I had a boyfriend.” Fiona pouted.

“It seems we’re the only ones without dates to prom.” Ivory scoffed.

“Don’t be jealous, you might find someone before then.” Natasha chuckled.

“Says the girl who’s dating this cutie. I might as well just take him from you.” Ivory said and winked at kandle, earning a glare from Natasha.

“Don’t worry Princess, I’m all yours.” Kandle whispered into her ear before kissing it, causing Natasha’s cheeks to turn cherry red.

“I think I’ll find a new table now. one without couples to oppress me.” Fiona muttered and everyone laughed.

“So Sebastian, you’re finally strong enough, do you mind joining the soccer team now?” Ethan asked and Sebastian faced Swayer.

“What? I’m not the one asking you.” Swayer shrugged.

“You’re not worried about my safety?” Sebastian asked feigning a hurtful expression.

“Dude it’s soccer not world war two.” Kandle chuckled.

“If you feel your strong enough then you can go.” Swayer replied and Sebastian faced Ethan.

“Soccer it is.”

They were both in the same house along with Swayer and Anna but since soccer is for the guys, the girls would participate in the race and swimming part.

After lunch, everyone retired to their classes for the final classes before returning to their hostels.

FAMICS APARTMENT

The girls were all in the living room watching a movie. Each had a bowl of popcorn on her laps as they burried their attention in the TV.

“I always knew Elena was behind their kidnap.” Chrystal smirked as she shoved a popcorn into her mouth.

“But she looked so innocent, I was actually thinking it was Scarlet. She kept thr_@tening everyone.” Fabiola chuckled.

“Never trust the quiet ones.” Anna said and suddenly everyone faced her. They knew she was talking about Maeve.

“What?” She asked with a slight frown.

“Cut her some slack already Anna.” Fiona said with a sigh before turning back to the TV.

Anna was about saying something when they heard a Knock on the door.

“I’ll get it.” She said instead, getting up before walking towards the door.

She opened it and froze on seeing Maeve as she was the last person she had expected to see.

“Hey Anna.” Maeve called with a slight smile but Anna just glared at her.

“Can I come in?” She asked carefully, feeling a sharp pain in her chest. This use to be her home too, she didn’t need to ask for permission to come in or go out and now here she is, feeling like and being treated like a stranger.

“Why are you here?” Anna asked instead.

“I just want to talk.” Maeve muttered.

“We have nothing to say to you.” Anna said and made to close the door but Swayer stopped her.

“Anna, let her in.” She said sternly which made Anna walk away from the door and back to her popcorn.

Swayer had decided to follow Anna to see who was at the door since Anna was taking too long and was shocked to see Maeve.

She stood by the door, watching Maeve as she entered the house slowly.

“Swayer.” Maeve muttered in a shaky voice.

“Come in.” Swayer said and turned around, walking back to the others.

They looked at her, wondering who she had just invited since Anna refused to tell them anything but before they could ask, Maeve walked in.

She was surprised to see Natasha comfortably seated with her popcorn but that wasn’t her concern. She couldn’t take being apart from them anymore.

She thought she could bear the consequences of her betray but after a week and non of them spoke to her, she began feeling lonely.

It got worse when they still ignored her for another month and she knew she had to make amends before graduation.

“Maeve?” Fiona called with widened eyes.

Chrystal stood up from the couch wondering what she’s doing here.

“Did you forget something?” She asked trying to stay calm. She felt like pouncing on her but decided not to since they had already beaten her up before.

“I.. I came to apologize.” Maeve forced herself to speak up. She was already shaking and was afraid they would turn her away.

“I think I should give you girls some privacy.” Natasha said and made to stand up but Anna pulled her back down since they were sitting together.

“You’re one of us now, no need to leave.” She said and Natasha smiled a bit.

“Go on then, apologize.” Anna said giving her a glare.

Swayer just kept mute, mulching on her popcorn. Truth be told, she had already forgiven Maeve, she was just waiting for the perfect time to talk to her but since Maeve came here by herself, she might as well catch a little cruise.
