? CHAPTER 50?

Sebastian and Ivory had found three items so far as they were two brains on one team. Their search was the easiest and they were certain they would win.

“One more item left!” Ivory exclaimed with a broad smile.

“What should we fine next?” Seb asked as she was the one holding the paper. He didn’t feel the stress of the game with her making it lively.

“Umm, how about this fruit. It’s a star apple.” She shrugged.

“Star apple in a forest? I doubt that.” Seb frowned.

“It’s not a wild forest. From the looks of it I think this is a private property. It’s properly taken care of and I haven’t come across any snakes.” Ivory smiled.

“What’s the clue?” Seb asked even though he wasn’t sure they would find any star apple’s in a forest. Those were personal planted trees. They don’t just grow randomly.

“It says, sometimes you have to break the rules.” Ivory read out with a frown.

“Seriously? Who wrote these d@mn clues anyway?” Sebastian laughed. They paused in their step as they came across a cliff some meters ahead of them. Ivory gasped. She totally understands the clue now. Mr Griffin had warned them to stay away from cliffs and the clue says they’ll have to break the rules.

“Seb I think we need to reach the cliff.” Ivory said and Sebastian glared at her immediately.

“Are you crazy? Mr Griffin clearly warned us not to-”

“But the clue says we have to break the rules.” Ivory cut him off.

“Just find something else on that paper aside that star apple.” Sebastian said turning around.
Ivory pressed her lips into a thin line, staring at the paper. She really wanted to get the star apple. She raised her head up and saw Sebastian ahead of her. He was already going back.

“Fine then, I’ll get it myself.” She muttered, heading in the direction of the cliff.

Fiona screamed as the green snake crawled towards her. Swayer had ran to get a stick or something she could use to ki|| it.

“Swayer hurry up!!!” Fiona kept screaming, moving back slowly. She didn’t want to make an hasty move or the snake might strike her. It kept crawling slowly to her feet until a small boulder landed on its body. Swayer had forced herself to carry it as she knew using anything else might risk the snake biting her.

The snake kept trashing it’s head, trying to free it’s body from the boulder.

“Let’s run now.” Swayer said and they both ran away from it. Fiona began laughing on their way. That was scary and funny at the same time.

“Why are you laughing? A minute ago you were screaming your lungs out.” Swayer asked, facing her.

Ivory was about to reply but smiled brightly as she saw their next and last item. An olive fruit, just up ahead.

“Swayer look!” Ivory pointed. Swayer followed her line of sight and gasped on seeing the single fruit that was purposely tied around a stick at the edge. It was some feet away from where they stood.

“I’ll go get it.” Swayer said, taking gentle steps towards the fruit. The sand around that place isn’t so solid so she had to be careful not to slip or she may end up rolling until she probably fall off a cliff.

“Be careful Swayer.” Fiona called from behind. Swayer gave her a thumbs up and continued her slow and steady steps towards the stick. She finally got to it and untied the olive fruit.

“Got it!” She waved it at Fiona. “Catch!” She said throwing the fruit towards her. Fiona immediately dropped the paper on the ground, spreading her arms to catch the fruit. The moment it landed on her hand, she smiled, looking at it up close.

“I guess we should head back now. We might probably be the first.” She smiled picking up the paper again, she ticked the olive fruit and faced Swayer.

“What are you still doing there? Let’s go.” She called but Swayer’s expression wasn’t funny at all.
“Swayer what’s wrong?” Fiona asked with a frown.

“What did the clue say. You didn’t read the clue.” Swayer said in an almost high pitched tone. She doesn’t want to assume yet but she has a bad feeling about where she’s standing right now.

Fiona furrowed her brows, glancing at the paper.
“It says when you see the forbidden fruit, keep walking ahead.” Fiona read out with a confused expression. Swayer’s eyes widened immediately.

“Fiona, I want you to walk ahead and tell me if you’ll see an actual olive tree. Hurry!” Swayer yelled and Fiona immediately took to her heals. Immediately she got passed the stick and few bushes, she widened her eyes. There, infront of her stood the beautiful big olive tree with several fruits. Then, what about the one they had taken?

She immediately ran back to where she had left Swayer and froze.

Swayers feet were deep in the sand, it was at her ankle now.

“Swayer!!” Fiona screamed and made to come to her but Swayer stopped her.

“Don’t come any closer. It’s quicksand. You should have read the clue on time. They actually used this to indicate where not to go. We plug the wrong olive, the forbidden fruit.” Swayer rushed her words. She’s freaking out but trying her best not to move. She’s read stories about people being trapped in quicksand. Struggling will only make them sink further.

“Swayer what do we do?!” Fiona asked worriedly. She was freaking out more than Swayer who’s in the sand. It’s her fault for not reading the clue.

“Go get help.” Swayer said, shutting her eyes. The sand had swallowed her leg up to her knees now.

“I can’t leave you here! I’ll use the walky talky.” Fiona said bringing out the phone. She looked at it with a perplexed expression as she didn’t know how to use it.
“You know what just stay still, I’ll go get help.” She said running back, following the trail they had come from.

Chrystal was so tired of everything. They had found only two items since then since Ethan had done nothing but annoy her all through. She didn’t even care about the prize anymore, she just wanted to get going, go back and leave this damned forest.

“What is next on the list?” Ethan asked after talking non stop about gibberish.

“It says shut the f-__-k up and let’s go back already!” Chrystal yelled.

“Calm down cupcake, it’s not like the rest would be back by now so let’s just try to find what’s on the stupid list.” Ethan sighed.

“So now you want to find what’s on the list? You’ve been talking non stop since we entered this forest and these two items were found by me and me alone! Why do you have to be so f-__-king annoying!” Chrystal yelled. She couldn’t take it anymore.
Before Ethan could respond, they heard a loud scream that made them both pause. The scream came again and Chrystal widened her eyes as she recognized that voice.

“Ivory!” She yelled and made to run but Ethan pulled her back.

“She’s with Sebastian, she’s safe.” Ethan smirked but Chrystal yanked her hand off.

“You disgust me!” She spat at him before running off. She didn’t know where she was running to but she had to know why Ivory had screamed that way.

.
.
.

Sebastian was shocked when he turned his back and didn’t find Ivory following him. He actually thought she was quiet because he had refused her from finding her star apple.

“Ivory?” He called wondering where she had gone. Her loud scream made him take to his heels at once, running in the direction of the cliff.

“Ivory!” He called out loud when he got close to the cliff.

“Seb!!! Help me!” Ivory screamed. She had fallen off the cliff as the sand was slippery. Thankfully her hand had caught a solid stone, preventing her from falling completely. She was practically hanging on for her dear life. The cliff led to the river but there is dry land before the shore. If she should fall, there is a sixty percent chance of her falling on the dry land rather than into the river.

Sebastian gently made his way to the cliff and widened his eyes on seeing the depth of it. He’s actually afraid of heights.

“You are so stubborn! I told you we should not come here and yet you still disobeyed!” Sebastian scolded, he didn’t even know how to pull her back up. The sand is really slippery and he didn’t want to fall along with her.

“Help me please. Pull me up.” Ivory begged.

“How do you want me to do that? If I apply pressure to my weight, I’ll just end up falling. Can you hold on, let me go get help.” Sebastian said slowly moving away from the edge.

“No no don’t leave me here! Seb!!” Ivory screamed.

“I’ll be back with help, just hang on!” Sebastian said. The moment he moved away from the slippery sand, he took to his heels, running back to the entrance to get help from Mr Griffin.

On getting there, he saw Fiona panting like crazy. It seems she had also run all the way out here.

“Sebastian? Where is your partner?” Miss Diane asked on seeing him. Fiona faced him and she could only conclude something went wrong as well. Mr Griffin had already gone with some other people to get Swayer. Fiona had to catch her breath. she would go meet up with them soon.

.
.
Meanwhile, the sand had already reached Swayer neck, getting to her face. If there was a rope she would try to get herself out but there was nothing she could use to escape.

“Seriously? I’ve never imagined having to die like this.” She chuckled. it did seem a little funny. The sand covered her mouth and soon, it covered her entire face.
