While other students kept whispering to each other.
All Andrew could see was Lucy who kept moving close to him, he could feel their bodies touching. Is she trying to kiss him?
Everyone were expecting them to share a kiss but then Lucy did the opposite.
She knelt on the floor and help him tie his shoe lace.
“You need a girl to do this sort of things for you, what if you trip over your shoe lace” she said sweetly.
Lucy was oblivious to the groan by other students but she notice something of a disappointment on Andrew’s face.
“Come with me” he said suddenly and went off with her leaving everyone starring after them.
They stop in front of the notice board where a poster was plastered on the wall.
“See this” Andrew said, pointing to the poster.
“It’s a competition about a marathon ”
“It is and I want you to participate” Andrew said, startling her.
“You want me to what…”
“You really want to win my heart right? Then participate in this competition and win”
“But I can’t…”
“If you can’t or don’t do it then you have to leave me alone” Andrew interrupt her once again.
“But that’s unfair? Have never been in a marathon before ”
“Then you’ve got to learn, that is if you insist on getting my attention” he said steely.
“And what if I win, what do I get in return?” She asked.
“I promise to do anything you want”
“If I lose, I stay away from you and if I win, you promise to do anything I want, right?”
“I give you my word. I will do wh@ťěver you want me to but that’s until you win the race. If you are not sure you can win, it’s best you say so now cause I…”
“I will win” she cut him off abruptly.
“I will win the race and make you fulfil your promise. How about going on a date with me when the marathon ends?” She said, making him speechless for a while but he recovered his wits and said.
“We will talk about the date when you win the race ” a devious smile splay on lips as he walked off.
“Am going to win this race, I definitely will” Lucy vowed silently.

^^ MAXWELL COLLEGE ^^
“How on earth am I going to win this?” Lucy yelled as she and her friends watched the neighboring students practicing for the race.
“Andrew definitely fooled you on this one” Bonnie said as she chewed her gum.
“Why on earth did you accept? You should have refuse” Mary chastise.
” I should have but then…the jerk knew what he was doing when he told me to join the race” Lucy let out in frustration
“The race is a game every college in the province participates in and we’ve never for once win it cause, they are more better than us” Steve said as he referred to the students of Maxwell College.
“Just quit, it’s the best thing for everyone” Bonnie advice.
“How can you say that? Don’t you know she will lose to Andrew if she quit” Mary said.
“I think it’s for the best since she has to stop this seduction plan of hers”
“How can you say that Bonnie, you know that it’s thanks to her seducing Andrew that we are no more an outcast”
“I’d rather keep on being an outcast than to mingle with those guys”
“I support what sis Bonnie said” Steve chip in.
“Let’s stop the argument! There’s no way am going to quit the game, now more than ever am prepared to give my all” Lucy said to everyone.
“That’s it girl, don’t listen to them” Mary encourage.
“Are you sure? It’s going to be hard beating Alex ” Steve said, looking worried.
“And who’s Alex?” Lucy asked and her friends pointed to a guy on the field who was chatting with some female students.
“He’s the heartthrob of all the girls in Maxwell College and he’s excellent In sports. He’s been winning the race for five years now ”
“That skinny guy?” Lucy said in disbelief.
“Stop with your discouraging talk. It’s time someone takes the crown from Alex and Lucy here will be the one to achieve that” Mary said trying to boost her morale.
“I can do this” Lucy said as Mary cheered her on.
“This calls for karaoke, who’s in?” Mary asked and everyone scream out there excitement except for Bonnie who kept wondering how she ended up with crazy friends.
Their noise must have attracted some people including Alex who watch the group walking off.
“Who are they?” Alex asked his close friend as he joined him.
“Students from knight college. They probably came to check on you since they are scared, I heard that a girl will be participating in the race” Matthew replied.
“As long as it’s one of those beauties” Alex said.
“Don’t tell me you’ve been charmed by one of those girls, who is it? Which one of them is it?” Matthew asked Alex whose gaze was on Lucy who was dancing off with Steve.

^^ KARAOKE BAR ^^
“Its party time!” Mary said into the mic as she jump around with Steve and Lucy.
Bonnie was seated on the couch watching in silence while trying to hold back her anger.
When she could take it no more, she turn to stare at Donovan who had somehow manage to seat close to her.
“Will you move! You are suffocating me” Bonnie said softly.
“I thought you were going to tell me to hold you”
“Hold? You dirty pervert”
“That’s right am a pervert, a pervert who can’t seem to take his eyes off you. Just like Andrew did with Lucy, why don’t we make a deal” Donovan began.
“If Lucy wins the race, we go out on a date to celebrate ”
“And if she lose?”
“We still go out on a date” Donovan replied cheekily.
“Wh@ťěver outcome the race is, we still end up going out on a date?”
“Yes”
“There are times when I really want to hit that ugly face of yours in” Bonnie let out and stood up.
She went to seat next to Francis who has been enjoying the show.
Letting out a sigh, she picked up a can cola and gulp it’s content.
“That’s mine” Francis said and immediately, she set it down.
“Am sorry, I didn’t know”
“It’s okay. Donovan must have been frustrating again” Francis said having notice them talking earlier.
“He’s just so….I wonder how you guys cope with him”
“By letting him do his thing. When you tell Donovan to stop, he will do the opposite and we are used to it which is why we let him be” Francis told her.
“Now for the special song, let’s give it up for Bonnie and Francis to…”
“No!” Bonnie and Francis said at the same time.
The both of them stared at each other and began to laugh while Donovan watch them In silence.
“Is William and Andrew coming?” Lucy question jolt Donovan out of his thoughts.
“Er, William must probably be off the grid. He tends to do that all the time and before coming here, I told Andrew about the karaoke but he said he wouldn’t come”
“Okay” Lucy said feeling a bit sad since it’s been a while she saw William.
She excuse herself and went to the rest room.
She was on her way back when she collide into someone.
“Are you okay?” The guy she had collide into asked.
“Yes I….Alex” she called, recognizing him.
“It’s good to know that you know my name but I don’t know yours” Alex said, pleased to know that she knew his name.
“It’s Lucy and I got to know about you today. You see, I will be participating in the race and I heard that you will too”
“About that, I was thinking of quiting the race ”
“Really? You will?” Lucy said quickly, moving towards him.
“Looks like you are eager for me to quit”
“I will be lying if I deny it. I heard that you are very good and if you join the race, I will definitely lose”
“So, you want me to quit so you can win?” Alex asked.
“Will you?” Lucy asked blinking cutely at him and that got Alex laughing.
“You really know how to coerce someone but then I’d like to get something in exchange for quiting the game” Alex said and was about to speak again when someone called her name.
“You came” Lucy said in excitement.
“Everyone is waiting for you” Andrew replied and taking hold of her hand, he pulled her off not even giving her the chance to say goodbye to Alex.
“Donovan said you weren’t going to come, what changed your mind?”
“Is it an impulse of yours to talk to strangers?” Andrew asked instead.
“Alex is not a stranger”
“Really? I can bet my favourite watch on it that you just met him today”
“It’s true that I just met him today but he’s not a bad person”
“How can you tell? Does he have it written on his forehead?” Andrew snap and began to walk off.
Lucy followed wondering why he was angry at her then it suddenly hit her.
“Are you jealous?'” she asked.
“Do I look like I am?”
“You do look like a jealous boyfriend” she said, obstructing his path.
“You don’t have to be angry. If there are a thousand Alex, I will only choose you” Lucy said making Andrew stomach contract. He didn’t know why it felt good hearing her say that.
“It’s best we go join the others” he said and walk past her.
The singing continued with Lucy, Mary, Donovan and Steve entertaining while Andrew, Francis and Bonnie watched.
“Do you want me to sing thinking about you by Ciara?” Lucy asked Andrew as she came to seat beside him.
“No”
“But I really want to sing it” Lucy said as she got off the sofa to take the mic from Steve.
As soon as she began singing, Andrew got up and left and she quickly went after him.
But her search for Andrew prove futile, she stood outside, wondering where he could be when she notice someone standing on the other street, watching her.
Recognizing it to be the mask guy, Lucy ran into the karaoke bar only to collide into Alex.
“Are you okay?” Alex asked on seeing the way she was shaking.
“He… he’s out there…he…he’s here for me” Lucy said finding it out to breathe.
“Everything is going to be fine, am right here, I will protect you” Alex pulled her into his arms.
When her shaking stopped, he lifted her into his arms and was heading to the karaoke room he booked when Andrew showed up.
“Put her down”
“This is not the time for you to…”
“Get down, Lucy” Andrew ordered and slowly, Alex set her down.
Walking towards them, Andrew lift her into his arms.
“She’s a bit scared, I don’t know what she saw but she’s… ”
“I can take care of it, she’s my girl afterall” Andrew said and went off with her…..
