Chapter fifteen
They made it to the hospital and while her grandma and Andrew stayed in the waiting room, she went to confirm her grandmother appointment.
The both of them have suddenly grew close, all through the journey Andrew kept on showing her grandmother his charms and she enjoyed every minute of it.
She even said that if she was back in her younger days, she would have chosen him amongst other guys.
She was trying to find a way to get him out of her life but with her grandma being charmed and Nick being excited about having a CEO as a friend, it certainly makes it all hard.
“What do you mean by we have no appointment, we come every Sunday and i already payed up front “Claire said when the nurse made it clear to her that they had no appointment and that was because they haven’t payed for the full month.
“This is the account statement Miss Claire, you only payed for last month, you haven’t payed this month” the nurse was adamant
“But that’s impossible, I payed this month….”she stopped when she realised that she had given Nick the money to do it, she had been so busy with a new project that she had asked him to pay it, what the hell did he do with the money? She thought as she took out her mobile phone to dial Nick number.
After the call she found out from Nick that he never made the payment but had used the money for something else, he wanted to pay it back but never got to do it.
He kept on apologising, promising to pay the next month check up asking her to pay this month check up but little did he know that she had little money left in her account.
She was still thinking of something when Andrew came to her.
“Is something wrong?”he asked
“Nothing”she lied.
He moved to the receptionist and asked to pay the bill for her grandmother check up.
She was surprised that he knew and was trying to stop him but all efforts was fruitless.
“Nick called me and told me about it”
“He had no right to do it, this is all his fault “Claire said still angry
“You wouldn’t have told me if Nick hadn’t called right?”he asked as he stared at her
“Its my family issue and of no…..”
“You will be engaged to me soon and so it’s definitely my concern”he said feeling annoyed
“And who told you that? I already told you that I have no interest……’
“And I made it clear to you that I won’t give up, no matter how much you push me away, I won’t give you up”he said pulling her into his arms.
He was about to kiss her when they heard her grandmother voice.
“Is something wrong ?”She asked and Claire quickly went to her to assure her that all is well while Andrew got a call from Sophia.
A while later, Claire left the check up room, heading to the waiting room to check on Andrew.
Their discussion had been interrupted by her grandma. She had to talk to him and make it clear to him that she wouldn’t marry him.
He haven’t even made it clear to her why he asked her to marry him in the first place, it certainly isn’t because he liked or loved her probably because he pitied her.
A rich guy like him would never take a woman like her seriously, he must have thought her a fool for longing after Ben and had decided to help get over that love by showing an interest in her. Well he did help her get over Ben.
She hardly even think about him and after leaving his restaurant on Saturday, he hasn’t called her and she didn’t call him too.
She would be quitting her work on Monday and would also pay Ben a visit letting him know that she will stop working at his restaurant, she had volunteered to help because she wanted to get close to him but he never noticed until her love weared off.
Falling out of love for Ben doesn’t mean that she was giving into the future she dreamt of herself with Andrew.
Just like she will stop working at Ben restaurant, she will quit the Advertising company and keep as much distance from Andrew as much as possible.
She got to the waiting room to find Andrew gone. Where could he have gone to? She thought as she was about bringing out her phone to call him when she saw Sofia walking towards her.
Claire was wondering what brought Sofia to the hospital when Sofia got close to her and slapped her on the cheek.
“Why do you still linger around him? I told you already that Andrew is mine, why won’t you just let him be?”She yelled getting other people attention.
Claire was caught off guard by the slap but what she said got her more surprised.
They have never spoken to one another, she only saw her on the day she came to visit Andrew at the company.
“What are you…..”
“Don’t pretend with me Claire, I know you are trying to seduce my fiance, you are trying to steal him from me”She said as she started to cry and by now they were the centre of attraction and people who knew Sophia as an actress found the whole scene interesting and so they began to video the whole thing.
Claire was still trying you understand the situation when Sophia moved towards her ,whispering into her ear.
“You should have stayed away from Andrew. Because of a thing like you, he doesn’t want to get married to me, this is a way of showing you not to mess with me”..
Sophia held Claire hand to her body, making it seem like Claire wanted to push her and she fell on the floor, faking the tears again.
“Please Claire, please don’t take Andrew away from me, please”She said as she knelt in front of Claire who stood starring at her and everyone.
Just so she could get her way and get Claire to stay away from Andrew, Sophia pulled this stunt wanting to publicly humiliate her, Claire thought as she turned to leave only for Sophia to hold her by the leg.
“Help me to beg her! Tell her to let Andrew go, I love him so much and am willing to make a spectacle out of myself, am willing to beg you, His mistress to leave him alone”She cried out to the people watching them.
“You should let her fiance go”someone said to Claire amongst the crowd.
“Women like you are suppose to be kept away from men”
“Don’t be more shameless and leave the guy alone”
“She is even begging you, if I were her, I would have given you a beaten already”
Every one around them began to lash out at Claire believing Sophia lies.
Sophia smiled to Claire and stood up facing them all with a sad face again.
“Though am an actress, I don’t mind ridiculing myself just to get the man I love, so please do not judge her just help me to beg her, beg her and tell her to leave Andrew alone”Sophia said to them all receiving more sympathy from them while they looked at Claire as the villain.
“Stop it Sophia! I don’t have anything to do with Andrew”Claire said trying to defend herself but it only got much worse because a lady amongst the people walked towards Claire, pulling her by the hair.
Two more women came out, trying to do the same to Claire and Sophia stood watching the whole thing with satisfaction.
If only Andrew hadn’t said those things to her when she called him earlier.
He should never have messed with her, the more he did, the more she messed with Claire, she thought as she takes her tears again.
Andrew was at the hospital cafeteria, having a cup of tea and wondering what Sophia meant by the last statement she made.
She had called him earlier, telling him to give the wedding a thought again and in anger, he had blurted out Claire name to her, telling her that he is in love with Claire and that nothing she did would get him to go to the wedding or to marry her.
She had rained insults at him and had also told him that he would pay for rejecting her.
“Claire would be the one to get hurt, I promise you ”
Those had been her last words before cutting the call.
He shrugged the thought off knowing that Sophia was all mouth only. He was about sipping his coffee when he saw a nurse who he recognise from the second floor coming towards him.
“You should hurry now, the lady you came with is in trouble”she said and quickly Andrew left the cafeteria heading to the hospital second floor.
He got there to see Sophia looking at some women who were all over Claire.
Quickly he ran towards them, pushing the ladies away and holding Claire in his arms.
“Have you all gone insane!!” He yelled at them all.
“They are just helping me Andrew, you can’t possibly want her over me”Sophia said sharply.
“So this is your doing right?”He asked
“Why do you only see the bad in me?”Sophia returned with a question while giving him a look which made it clear that she had planned it all.
“I want you all to delete wh@ťěver you have recorded if not I will sue you and remember, the CCTV footage has shown your face, If it leaks out, I will come after you one by one “he yelled at the onlookers who quickly put down their phone.
Carrying Claire in his arms, he headed to one of the ward.
