Ruby chuckled softly, staring at his boys who had their faces down. His eyes roamed around the place, and he sighted a chair.

He went to it and sat down.

“Stand,” he said, and the boys did exactly that.

“Any results from what I asked?”

“We weren’t able to locate Attorney Bills no matter how much we tried, so I thought he’s dead and that our suspicion about him being alive was wrong,” Santario replied.

Ruby stood up and went to him. When he was close enough, his balled fist landed on Santario’s face, and he staggered slightly, his lips producing blood. Ruby cleaned his hands on Santario’s shirt then went back to sit.

“I was the one who went to his burial site, dug up his grave only to discover it was an empty coffin. So tell me, do you still think it’s a story I made up?” Ruby asked.

“I dare not,” Santario bowed.

Ruby faced Bob.

“Why were you after Gladys?” He asked, and Bob faced down again.

“I had no plans of hurting her. I just wanted to ask her about the whereabouts of Attorney Bills because I know Frida and the late Richardson were family. So…”

“No one should touch a single hair on her. She’s clueless about the whole issue,” Ruby paused.

“I’ll ki|| her myself if she finds out anything about Bills. But then, I heard an interesting piece of news from her. Menodora, who happens to be the only daughter of the Richardson, is also looking for Bills. Isn’t that interesting?” Ruby asked.

Santario said no word.

“You should look for her, monitor her every move until you make sure she sees Attorney Bills. But I’m still wondering how she didn’t get to enter the car her parents entered. I’m still wondering how she escaped death. ki||ing the Richardsons wasn’t that fun, but it was worth it though, and soon enough, I’ll send their daughter to them so their once happy family will continue in the afterlife. Aren’t I being too nice here?” Ruby chuckled.

Santario still didn’t say a thing as Ruby spoke.

“Anyway, Santario, why were you just coming? Did you go out to see someone?” Ruby asked, and Santario raised his head.

“How will I visit someone when I have no family to visit? I’m just an orphan whom you picked up somewhere on the street. I only went out for a good f_ck,”

“Yeah, as a man, you need that. It helps calm your nerves, but if it happens to be what I’m thinking… ” Ruby paused while Santario swallowed hard.

“Nevermind,” Ruby added and stood up. “You should look for Menodora. I’m sure she wouldn’t hesitate to tell me about the whereabouts of Bills if she sees me. At least, she has no idea I ki||ed her parents,” Ruby smiled.

“Larry, let’s go,” He said and walked out of the building, with Santario walking behind him.

Ruby got into his car, and got another silicone human mask. He wore it on his face, and Larry drove off. Santario just watched.

“Does it mean Ruby has always been with us in disguise? So he found out Dora wasn’t dead, and he didn’t scold you. Instead, he asked us to change our target? I’m still wondering the relationship he had with the Richardsons and what exactly he wants,” Bob muttered.

Santario ignored him and went back into the building. Bob ran after him.

NEXT DAY

Menodora had no classes, so she was in her hostel thinking about Mariano. She had a cute smile on her face, but it disappeared when someone knocked on the door.

At first, she thought it was Mariano, but he had never visited her ever since she came to school. He only spoke to her on the phone, but he told her he was going to come, so she thought he was the one.

She went to get the door, and her once-smiling face disappeared when she saw who it was.

Steve.

“Expecting someone else?” Steve asked while she forced a smile, making way for him to enter the room.

“Wow, this is the first time I’m coming here, thanks to Eduardo who told me,” Steve added, sitting on her bed.

She joined him too.

“Want something to drink?” she asked, and Steve shook his head in denial.

“I only came to see how you’re doing and to ask you a question, Dora,” He said.

Menodora stared at him, trying to figure out what he wanted to ask.

Steve shifted closer to her while she shifted back slightly.

“You’ve never done this before,” He chuckled, staring at her face.

“Do what?” she asked, somehow feeling uncomfortable.

When Steve noticed, he chuckled again and stood on his feet.

” You’re leaving already?” She asked.

“Have you ever even thought of me when I told you how I felt about you?” He asked, but she kept mute.

“Have you?”

“I’m sorry, Steve. Though I liked you back then, maybe I did because you were the only one who was nice to me, but recently, I think I’m starting to like someone else,” she told him frankly.

“You liked me before and now you like someone else? Is that person Eduardo by any chance? If yes, don’t you think you’ll be hurting me greatly? How could it be my brother of all people? I h@ťě seeing you two together. It hurts, and I can’t help it. I just don’t want to- ”

“It’s neither you nor Eduardo,” She blurted out, and Steve faced her.

“You’ve got a boyfriend in school already?” he asked.

“Not really, but I think I’m in love with Mariano,” She muttered. Steve’s eyes widened as he staggered back slightly.

“What?”

“Hmm. I love him so much that I didn’t realize when it all started,” She muttered again. Steve didn’t bother to say a word further as he walked out of her room.

“I’m sorry, Steve. I just couldn’t control my heart,” she said aloud, but he didn’t turn or make it seem like she was talking to him. She pouted sadly as she watched him go.

“Yeah, I did the right thing. At least I won’t keep giving him false hopes” She closed the door. She leaned against it and took a deep breath before walking to her bed.

She sat on it and made to call Mariano when a message popped up.

* WE HAVE A CLASS THIS EVENING * She read before sighing loudly.

DORIAN’S APARTMENT

Dorian yawned loudly, opening her eyes. She looked around the place, then sat up.

“How did I get home last night?” she asked no one in particular until the events of yesterday popped up in her head, and a loud gasp escaped her lips.

“Why the hell did I have to get pregnant for someone like him? What will Dora think of me? Gawd, I f_cked up seriously and I’m so annoyed…” she screamed and left the bed.

She left for the sitting room and a knock came up. Knowing who it might be, she didn’t budge. She just stared blankly at the door.

The person at the door didn’t stop knocking either.

“Just disappear, will you?” she shouted from inside, yet the person still kept knocking. The loud bangs on the door was starting to irritate her already, so she marched to the door and opened it.

When she came face to face with him, she raised her hands to slap him, but he held it and hugged her instead.

“Let me go,” She bit his arm, yet he didn’t let go of her. Her tiny body against his felt so good.

Santario disengaged from the hug and stared down at her.

“I’m sorry I left last night,” he said, and she shifted away from him.

“You think I’m joking when I said I don’t wanna see you? How do you want Dora to see me? It’s like I’m betraying her right now,” Dorian shouted.

“Can you just do me a favor? Keep the pregnancy, and I promise to protect you even with my life.”

“Why? Why should I keep this thing in my womb? I’m ready for it” she shouted again and exhaled deeply.

“The truth is, at the end, I might not make it ’cause loving you is already at my own risk, but I don’t really care. I’ll try to protect you and the unborn baby, so you don’t need to worry,” he said, and she frowned.

“What do you mean?” she asked, and this time her voice was calm.

“I might die one day, and I don’t want to leave without having to take up my lineage. It will be like a wasted life,” he muttered, which made her laugh hard.

“Just the exact reason I can’t keep it. I know your job is dangerous, and you want me to keep the baby so he or she will keep asking for his or her father? No, I can’t do that,”

“Please, Dorian. In fact, I’ll go to any length so you both wouldn’t suffer,” he said, and she laughed, seeing the pitiful look on his face.

“Anyway, I’m scared of death, so I think I’ll keep it. I’ll talk to Dora about it,” she muttered, but Santario didn’t hear her.

“Please,” he said again.

“On one condition,” she said, and he nodded.

“Anything.”

“Why were you after Dora?” she asked, and he sighed.

“You can just leave if you don’t wanna tell me,” she rolled her eyes, walking towards her couch. She sat on it, and a smile escaped her lips slightly.

She felt his lips on her neck, and she took in her lips. She shifted on the couch, trying to avoid him.

He jumped next to her and sat too.

“I didn’t know a time like this would come, but promise me you won’t get mad?” he said, and she didn’t bother to face him. He cleared his throat and started explaining everything he knew. Dorian’s eyes kept getting big.

Santario spoke for twenty minutes, before sighing.

“Wait, you and Ruby ki||ed her parents?” She asked shocked, and he nodded sadly.

” How could you do that to innocent people?” She shouted, and he swallowed nothing.

“And now, you’re looking for Attorney Bills, whom Dora is looking for too? You also want to ki|| him?” she asked, but he kept mute.

The way her questions kept coming made him feel bad somehow. He stood up and started leaving.

“Turn yourself in alongside your group members,” she said, and his steps faltered.

“Do that, and I’ll keep the baby,” She added, but he walked out of the house without looking back. He had tears in his eyes as he left.

“It’s too late to turn back,” he muttered as he walked away.

“I’ll do the abortion then. I can’t keep the baby of a murderer,” She shouted after him as she watched him enter his car and drove off.

“How could he ki|| Dora’s parents? What should I tell her? But it’s not his fault, right? He had no choice, he wanted to live,” she said.

“Gawd… I’m confused,” she said loudly, stomping her legs on the ground. She went for her door and closed it.

“She’s pregnant for him?” The masked guy said, as he left his hiding spot.
