Chapter-Twenty-Two
Later in the cool evening, Baek-Hyun sat down on the bed working on his laptop.
“When are you going back to the office?” ji-ho asked as she stepped out of the bathroom wearing a Baek-Hyun t-shirt and a pair of short nicker.
“Soon”. he replied while still on his laptop.
” Okay” ” She sat down on the couch and started chatting with Si-u on the phone, Baek-Hyun stopped what he was doing and started ogling at her, but ji-ho seemed not to notice because she was busy with her phone, Then she received a message from Baek-Hyun, she read it and glance at him.”why?”
“Am bored, I need some company”. he said smiling.
” I thought you were working on your laptop”.
“Yeah, but your presence is distracting me “.
” Ok, I will just give you some privacy”. She stood up to leave, and Baek-Hyun stopped her.
“No, I really need your presence, please come lay beside me”. he said and Ji-ho sigh
” You are something”. She moved to join him on the bed and covered herself with the blanket.
“Much better” he smiled and cuddled her in his arms, ji-ho smile.”ji-ho, can I ask you something?” he asked.
“Yeah, what is it?”.
“Would you mind if you tell me what happened to your marriage, I know what the blogger said is not true, but I want to know everything”. he said and ji-ho let out a deep sigh and they sat upright on the bed.
“I know I shouldn’t have hidden it from you for so long”. she said with a sigh. “I got married to Dang-Geun, he was sweet and kind to me, it was on our wedding night that I found out the secret about him”.
” Secret? ”
“Yes, Dang-Geun was gay,” she said and Baek-hyun went surprised.
” What? g-gay?” he sputtered confusedly and she nodded.
“yes, he never told me about it until our wedding night, when I questioned him why he had to lie to me, he said it was the pressure from his family to get married”.
” But that doesn’t give him the right to add you to his problem,” he said and scoffed.
“I know, but it was too late then, his family thr_@tened to take everything away from him and even disowned him, he had no choice but to do what he had to do, and I don’t blame him for it, we continue to pretend in the marriage in other to secure his properties. I persuade him to tell his family the truth and face the consequences once and for all” She sighs and continues.” I continued to persuade him until he finally concluded that he would tell them, he traveled out that day for a business trip and promised we would both go to his family and tell them the truth”. She sighs sadly.
“Did you accompany him?”.
” It didn’t work out the way we planned it because he was involved in a ghastly motor accident on his way coming back”.
“What?”
“He was rushed to the hospital, but couldn’t make it”. she said sadly and Baek-Hyun pulled her to himself and patted her shoulder. “that moment I thought it was a dream, my own life just got crumbled in a matter of a second, a day later after his death I was blamed for his death and thrown out of the house, I wasn’t allowed to pay my last respect to him, I was mocked and blamed for everything”.
” But why will they do that? Dang-Geun was married to you and you have every right to his asset”.
“Yeah, but I was denial of it because I didn’t bear him a child for two years that we were married, Everyone said I got him ki||ed in other to have access to his assets”.
” Am so sorry, I can’t believe you went through all that pain”.
“I managed to overcome the pain, all thanks to my family and friends who were there for me, I picked up my life back and here I am ” She smiled forcedly.
” Am so sorry, I promise to always make you happy and I will never leave your side my little pumpkin”. He kissed her forehead and cuddled her in his arms, Soon, they fell asleep. Ji-ho noticed he was fast asleep, she stared lovely at him and caressed his face.
“Am sorry Baek-Hyun, I wish we could be together as you have planned, but I can’t, I don’t want to suffer the same fate with Dang-Geun, I can’t bear to watch you lose everything you have worked so hard for “. she sniffs as tears fill her eyes.” please, always look after yourself, I will always be there for you, am sorry we have to be apart, always know that I cherish you so much”. she gave him a light kiss on his lips.” Am sorry I have to go”. She stood up from the bed to the bathroom to get changed, Soon, she came out, picked up her bag, and sneaked out of the room quietly.
The next morning, Baek-Hyun woke up and yawned quietly, he felt the other side of the bed and noticed it was empty, he opened his eyes and couldn’t see Ji-ho on the bed.
“ji-ho, ji-ho” he called and sat upright on the bed.”Are you in the bathroom?”.he asked, but no response, he stood up and walked to the door of the bathroom and knocked.”ji-ho, are you in there?” no response, he opened the door and no one was there. “where could she be?”. He left to the sitting room to see his friends chatting and having their breakfast at the dining table.
“Hey man, you are awake”. Byung-ho said and Baek-Hyun moved closer to them and they could see how worried he looked.
“Are you okay?” Chan-yeol asked.
“Yeah, have you guys seen ji-ho?” he asked.
“No, we haven’t seen her this morning”. Byung-ho said.
” Didn’t she sleep over last night?” Chan-yeol asked.
“Yeah, she did, I woke up this morning and I couldn’t find her on the bed”.
” Maybe she is somewhere around the compound,” Chan-yeol said.
“Sure”He left to search for her and even asked some of his security if they had seen her, but their response was no, he went back inside feeling devastated.
” Any luck?”Byung-ho asked and he shook his head.” Did she maybe leave?”.
“Try calling her”. Chan-yeol said and Byung-ho dialed her number, but it wasn’t connecting.
” Is not connecting”. he said and Baek-hyun fell loose on the couch.
“Not again, not again, why will she leave without telling me”. he said sadly and his cook came over.
” Sir, I think I saw her”. she said and they turned in her direction quickly.
“Where?”. Baek-hyun asked curiously.
” Last night sir, I came over to the kitchen to get some water, and that’s when I saw her leaving in tears”. she explained and they sighed sadly.
“No, no “. Baek-Hyun said and rushed to his room, They tried calling him back, but he ignored them.
” This is not good”. Byung-ho said with a sigh.
Ha-jun locked herself in her room and ignored her parent’s calling.
“Please Ha-jun open up, you can’t stay in there forever”.Mrs.Do-Yun said trying to persuade her daughter to open up.
“Honey, please come out,” Mr Dong-Geun said.
“Just leave me alone!”. Ha-jun yelled out from her room.
” You can’t be in there, come out and let’s resolve everything,” Mr.Dong-Geun said.
“I don’t think she ready to come out, she has been in there since she got back from Baek-Hyun’s house,” Mrs.Do-Yun said.
“What do we do now?”.
” Let’s call Baek-Hyun over, he might help,” she said.
“You think so?”.
“It’s worth a try”.
“Okay” He brought out his phone and dialed Baek-Hyun’s number, It went busy, so he dialed it again, and it went busy again.” I guess he is on another call, Let me call his father and inform him of what is happening”. he said and dial on Mr.Dae-jung’s number.
Baek-hyun sat down on the couch in his room and tried to connect to Ji-ho, but it wasn’t going through, he grunted loudly
“Why are you doing this to me?” he sighs in frustration and then clicks on the voice note. “Is this what you really want? Do you want us to end what we both shared? You want me to forget about you and move on right? ” he sighed sadly and sniffed.” I will do it, I will give you the space that you want, I promise not to bother you again and I promise not to come after you again, You can do wh@ťěver you want, just know that you have hurt the deepest part of my heart and I don’t think I will forgive you for that ji-ho” he sobs.” Did I do wrong in falling in love with you? Did I ever hurt you? Why do you keep toying with my feelings, Why do you keep pushing me away? Why can’t you just let me fight this battle with you, Why ji-ho? Why?!”. he yelled out loud sobbing. “Don’t you ever come back to me, do what you want, am done chasing you, No matter what happened to me, I don’t want to ever see you again! ever!”. He sobs and continues murmuring in the voice note.
Meanwhile, Ji-ho hears everything he says in his voice note and starts sobbing.
” Look what you have made him do, ji-ho, he is deeply hurt”. Si-u said as she moved to comfort her.” I hope you resolve all these by yourself”. she said.
