Chapter Twelve
Mr.Dae-jung and his wife sat down in the dining having their lunch.
“Your son hasn’t given me feedback about his marriage to Ha-jun”. he said.
” I guess he needs more time”. she replied calmly.
“Time is what we don’t have, everyone is waiting for the due date of their marriage to be announced soon and your son is not taking it seriously”.
” Maybe that’s because he doesn’t want to, why don’t we just let him pick his choice”. she said and Mr.Dae-jung snapped by hitting his fist on the table.
“Never! His choice is Ha-jun and that’s it”.
” And you think he is happy with the decision we made for him? He is our only son for goodness sake and his happiness is our only priority “.
” Enough woman, you should be thinking about how to convince him into marrying her, not the other way round, he is my son too and his happiness matters to me too, that’s why I am doing all of this for his future”.
“Let him decide for himself, he is not a kid anymore”. she said angrily and left the dining table to her room, Mr.Dae-jung sigh tiredly.
Ha-jun was having lunch with her parents and wasn’t looking happy.
“Are you okay my dear? Mr.Dong-Geun asked as he noticed her mood.
“Am fine Dad,”.
” I don’t think so, is something bothering you? Are you having issues with Baek-hyun?”. he asked.
“I hope that is the problem”. she sigh and raise her face to them.” Dad, Mom, am I going to get married to Baek-Hyun?” she asked.
“of course, why did you ask?”.Do-Yun 도윤 asked with a warm smile
(In Korean this name means Permitted path).
” Mom, I just want to be sure, what if he is not interested in me in the way I am interested in him”. she said sadly.
“You don’t have to worry about that, you are already engaged to him”.Mr.Dong-Geun said.
” But he doesn’t look like he wants me, he doesn’t call to check up on me or even try to ask me out on a date”. she sighs.
“Just try to keep it cool my dear, am sure he will come around, maybe he is just busy, just give him a little time, he is yours and no one can take him away from you”. Mrs.Do-Yun said smiling at her.
” I hope so”.
“Sure, eat your food, everything will be fine,” Mr.Dong-Geun said and they continue their meal.
Ji-ho was working at her desk when a delivery guy holding a bunch of red roses enter.
” A delivery to ‘my little pumpkin” he yelled and everyone turns in his direction wondering including ji-ho whoo was a little confused, the delivery guy notice their confused faces.”Um, it state here ‘A delivery to my little pumpkin’ who is it?”. he asked looking around as everyone began to murmur.
“Baek-hyun”. ji-ho said quietly as she stood up. ” over here!”. she said and everyone turns in her direction murmuring towards each other, the delivery guy move to her and ask her to sign. she sign and he gave her the flowers and left.
“Wow, so you are the little pumpkin, he was referring to, that’s cute”. 1st staff said and ji-ho smiled nervously.
” Your boyfriend is such a romantic guy to call you his little pumpkin”2nd staff said as she blush.
“I wish my boyfriend can give a name so romantic as that” 3rd staff said and they chuckled, just then ji-ho phone rings out, and she stood up and left for the restroom to pick up the call.
“Hey, my little pumpkin”. he said on the other end of the phone.
“Why did you send flowers to my office, using that ridiculous name”. she said angrily.
“Because I got the right to call you that name, you are my favorite little pumpkin”. he teases.
” Don’t ever do that again, it’s embarrassing”.
“I wish I could see what your face looks like right now”. he laugh.
” not funny Baek-hyun”. she frowned.
“Do you like those flowers?”.
” No, don’t send them to my office again, bye!”. she hung up and let out a smile before she walk away.
Si-u and Byung-ho were walking hand in hand while tasting their ice cream.
“Thank you for coming out with me”. Byung-ho said.
” Anytime, am always available for hang out”. they chuckle.” so, how is the company treating you?”
“not bad, but stressful”. he said with a sigh, they find a comfortable place and sat down.
” I can see that”.
“How is your job treating you?”.
” Same, so stressful, but is getting better anyway”.
“That’s good”. they went quiet for a while.
“I was mainly to ask you, what do you think of my sister and Baek-hyun?”. she asked
” Er, yeah, about– he got interrupted by an unfamiliar voice.
“Byung-ho?”. the young lady standing in front of them spoke out excitedly, and they raise their faces to her. Si-u was flattered by her slim and elegant body.” is this really you?” she asked, Byung-ho stood up trying to remember her, but he was caught off guard as the girl embraced him and soon pull away from him. ” you don’t recognize me?”
“Not really”.
” is me Min-jun 민준
(means clever and talented in Korean).” she said.
“Oh, hey, am sorry I didn’t recognize you earlier”.
” No is okay” She smiles and Si-u notices her flirtatious gaze on him.
“When did you come back?” he asked
“A few days ago, I came to get something down the street, that’s how I saw you, is so good to see you, you are not looking bad after all”.
” Thanks”. he replied nervously.
“Let me have your contact to get in touch and hang out sometime”.
” Sure”. they exchange contact.
“Your girlfriend looks beautiful”. she said and Si-u stare at her quickly.
” Um–
“we are just friends”. Si-u cut in quickly.
” Oh, that is good to know, see you around sometime”. she left. and Byung-ho sat down.
“I’m sorry about that, she is an old-time friend from the state”.
” Oh, yeah, she looks pretty “.
” um, yeah”. they resume their ice cream.
Ha-jun relaxes on her bed and was on phone calls.
“I want you to give me more details about her, don’t fail me this time, monitor their every movement……. Good, call me when you find something”. she hung up and there was a knock on the door.” yes, come in”. she said and a maid enter holding a tray of orange juice, she place it on the shelf beside Ha-jun, bowed, and left. Ha-jun takes a sip and continues scanning through her phone.
Days later, Baek-Hyun forced Ji-ho to go out with him, and they went on dinner dates, Amusement Park, Water-fountain, a picnic, and different amazing places to show their love. all these while they were having fun and all that, the person Ha-jun assigned to monitor them, was taking pictures and videos of them. Ji-ho, overwhelmedelmed by so much happiness that Baek-Hyun had shown her, she wanted it to continue, but she got scared of what the future might hold for them.
“Wow, this looks amazing, Baek-hyun bought all these dresses for you?”. Si-u asked staring amazingly at the clothes that were placed on the bed.
” Yeah, I never wanted all these, but he forced me into taking all of them”. Ji-ho said.
“Of course, he is such an amazing boyfriend”. she said and Ji-ho scoff.
” He is not my boyfriend”.
“Oh, really? So all these outings and spending time with each other didn’t tell you that he is officially your boyfriend”.
” of course not, you know how stubborn and demanding he can be if I don’t go out with him”.
“He likes you a lot, he is just doing his part to make you happy,” Si-u said. “wow, I love this one, I will have this”. she added.
” Yeah, wh@ťěver”. she said with a sigh.
