CHAPTER NINETEEN:

Skylar ?️

“I saw it, I know what I saw. I watched it tear off her head and drinking her blood. It was real, it was so real. ” I said with my face buried in my palms.

” We believe you, Skylar. No one is trying to doubt you.” Said Mrs Bren.

” How does it looks like? ” Mr Bren asked.

“I couldn’t see it’s face but it looked big and huge. ” I still felt my body shivering. ” It ki||ed her. Even after she’s dead, it still tortured her. Why is it doing this to people? ” I cried.

Crystal came to sit next to me, tapping me at my back. “I saw her. She was the only daughter, the only child of her family. She was innocent. ”

” Skylar, it’s not your fault. Don’t blame yourself for nothing. ” Crystal said.

I turned to look at her. Is it? It doesn’t have to be your fault only when it’s your fault. Sometimes you just have to feel sorry for other people. And when you do that, it only makes you feel like it’s actually your fault for doing nothing when you should have done something.

“I wanna be alone.” I said leaving.

“Sk…”

“Let her be, Crystal. ” Said Mr Bren.

I shut the door behind me, sighing into the silent day. I sat on the same stone I had sat the last day I came here, watching as everyone did their business. Shaman is a village you’ll wish to be.

Today is the sixth day and I’ve gotten only today to be here. I wish the day would run as fast as it can to get me out of here.

Sometimes we don’t deserve to get what we deeply want. We just have to let them go.

You know what I mean, don’t you?

“Aren’t you gonna pick some herbs today?” Crystal asked from behind.

” I’m supposed to but I think those at home are enough. Donald can manage them. ”

She sat beside me, ” I’m gonna miss you. ”

“I already told you, I’ll love the both of us to go to California together. I’ll talk to your parents about it. ”

” Tell me you aren’t serious. ”

” I’m d@mn serious, Crystal. Tonight I’ll talk to your parents. ”

She laughed. ” Thank you. ”

” How did you get home last night?”

” I met this guy, he said his name is Jake. He knows everything about this monster.”

” He does? Where does he live?”

” I don’t know,I didn’t ask.” I replied.

“Is he from here?”

” Nah. A stranger, just like me. He’s been searching for the missing bodies for a long time now but he haven’t found anything.”

” No one can find it. It’s pointless trying.” She heaved heavily, ” your lucky. ”

” Really? I should have been dead by now if not for Jake. God, last night, is not something to talk about. I can’t believe I’m still trembling with the fear.”

I felt the vibration of my phone in my side pocket. Taking it out, I saw the dialler. Mr Kent, the guy who drove me here.

I picked the call, “Kent?” I waited for an answer but I couldn’t hear it.

I looked at Crystal, “is there any network here?”

She shook, “no phone service here. It’s really poor.”

“Where can I get a good signal?”

“Walk around?” She told my with a soft chuckle.

” Not funny. ” I said, standing up for a clear signal.

I tried calling Kent again but he wasn’t answering my calls. This is annoying, I swear. Very.

“Crystal?!” Mrs Bren called.

“Yes!” She sighed, “don’t walk too far.”

I walked to and fro just because I was searching for a f_cking network here. The way everyone stared at me, geez! Like I’m some kinda crazy clawn.

They won’t stop staring at me, so I walked out from their gaze towards the direction I and Crystal always pick the herbs. I tried Kent’s line again and again but he still wasn’t picking up.

“Come on, Kent, pick up. ” I grunted tiredly.

I tried again and this time he answered, but I couldn’t hear him. Like his voice sounded double like a cracking video.

“Kent, can you hear me?” I asked, ” Kent, can you hear me?” He hung up.

$h|t!

I walked passed the garden center of this calendula as I noticed the network was getting a little better. I guess I’ll get a better signal going further.

I got to a hill-like place, there was more than enough signal to call Kent. So I went ahead dialling his number again and again until he finally picked up.

“Kent?” I called.

“Mrs Crescent?”

I sighed, ” Can you hear me? ”

” Sure. Is there a problem? ”

” Oh, not at all. You know, I’ll be returning back to California tomorrow and I want you to be aware of it. ”

” Yeah, that’s right. At what time would you like me to come? ”

I thought for awhile, ” Eight o’clock will be better. ”

” Eight o’clock. ”

” Bye. ” I hung up.

So I had to go all the way from Crystal’s house to this place’cause I’m trying to get a clear signal? f_ck Shaman, sometimes.

I made way home, but made a stop when I saw something behind a tree just few miles from me. I inserted my phone back into my pocket heading for the unusual.

It was ahead so I had to climb more further on this hill-like place. The whole area felt weird from the other side, more quiet like it was another world on Earth.

Like there wasn’t anything like gravity or air around here. It was weird than a weird dream, you can say that.

I kept climbing until I got to the dead end of the hill.

Oh. My. God.

I gasped, as I stared at a worster Nightmare in front of me. No, this isn’t just a worst nightmare, it’s hell itself.

Finally, I was staring at the missing bodies with no head. This was actually the place it always keeps it’s victims? And all this while Crystal and I always come to pick the herbs, we never noticed?

Maybe I was meant to come here for a reason. I haven’t only seen this monster, I’ve found it’s home. I wanted to call Crystal only to remember she doesn’t have a phone and yelling her name from here, would be pointless.

As I turned to leave, I heard something unfamiliar. Only turning to look at a body rise like it was staring at me. I felt my adrenaline active causing me to stumble roughly down the hill.

And then, every single thing went blank.

Unknown ?️

As she turned to leave, she heard something unfamiliar. Only turning to look at a body rise like it was staring at her. Her adrenaline rush causing her to stumble roughly down the hill, hitting her head hard against a strong rock.

She fainted.

And then, every single thing went blank.

He was roaming around the woods like the thousand years hungry beast he was searching for his prey to feed on.

The scent of blood filled the atmosphere, flowing freely into his nostrils. He sniffed in hard, and again, and again that he went ahead searching for where the scent had come from.

It’s dinner time. . . Says the beast.

He dashed to where he had scented the smell of blood, moving his head to and fro for his ready dinner.

This blood was different. Everything about it was so different that he wouldn’t let it go no matter how long it’ll take him to find it. And it made him thirst the more.

He smiled as he found what he wanted laid helpless on the ground. Blood rolling out from her forehead causing a greater scar than that Marco had given her.

He bent towards the wound inhaling the sweet scent of her blood, then exhaling heavily. This would be an opportunity to have the best meal he’d never had in his years but. . . he couldn’t.

A sudden weakness pulled him down by a mere look at her. The hunger of thirst and want left him. And even if he desperately wanted to have her blood gulped, he just couldn’t.

No matter how hard he tried.
