She put it on and began to locate her way out as she ran as fast as she could.
Dave had already gotten up and was almost catching up with her so, she quickly picked up anything she could see on the ground and luckily there was a petit stone. So, she threw it at him and it landed on his forehead but that didn’t stop him from running after her. She ran really fast, the best her legs could carry. Then, she finally burst out of a door.

She thanked her stars that she was finally out but she still ran, for Dave was still chasing her. She found an empty garbage barrel nearby and she had no choice but to hide in it. She quickly found her way into it, tumbling into the barrel that swallowed her, using the steel cover to hide herself properly.

She heard the running footstep of Dave pass her and when she was sure he’d gone far, she came out and began to run again, as fast as she could because she was still in danger. Thick night fog, obstructed her view ahead but still, she ran non stop. Where exactly was she going to go? If she goes back to Sam’s house, he might find her again. So, she had to stay somewhere hidden, a very secure place.

***********
“Lila, Lila, wake up”

Lila slapped her ears at the stinging voice she heard.

“Lila wake up!” she heard again.

Slowly, she reluctantly opened her eyes that met with a very dark surrounding. Her breathing low because she was weak. Actually, she had succumbed to the sleep that weighed her down earlier that afternoon and it was night already.
When she woke up earlier that morning, with the usual splashing of water on her face she wailed on the fact that she still hadn’t died yet. They should have ki||ed her because what she felt everyday was more than torture. Her stomach churned from starvation and her head hurt from pang of headache. They could have left her, left her to die because no one was coming to save her and because she didn’t deserve such torture. She thought of her mum, Sam and Lannon and she was extremely sad that her life ended up being her pain.

“You shouldn’t fall your head in that way sleeping all day” she heard a voice and she knew it was Rodger. He’d been looking for a way to talk to her since that morning but she didn’t give him a chance. He brought her here and also ended up just like her. What an irony!
She sighed and tried to close her eyes, so she could just sleep to death but it wasn’t coming again.

“Strategize Lila. Is this all you could do? Sit and wait for your death?” she heard Rodger say again and this time she was forced to reply. Was he trying to mock her?

“You brought me here Rodger, don’t forget that!” her reply came out weakly

“And I ended just like you.” he laughed pathetically.

“Then you should be ashamed because you’re only just a tool to your boss” she replied.
She was too tired to even ask who the main boss was. Besides, what was the reason to know of someone who wanted her dead. She instinctively blocked her ears from all Rodger’s rants. She just wanted to die and so, she closed her eyes again waiting for sleep to come. It was the fourth night already and no one was coming for her. ‘Lannon, where are you?’ She thought.

*******
Sam had gotten back to her house after a futile search for Lila. For, she and Lannon had aborted a lot of plans and creating new ones. Was it just useless that they tried their best? They weren’t even getting a hint. All, she knew was that the people who held Lila hostage, were so good at it. For the fact that Lannon wasn’t even able to find a hint.
She finally, unlocked her house front doors with the key, hoping that Lila’s mum had slept. She really didn’t have the strength to tend to her needs or anything. She just wanted to sleep. But when she got into the house it was so quiet. Not even a single noise she heard. She went to the room where Lila’s mum stayed but she was not there.
“Mrs Ivory?” she called out but got no reply.
She began to panic because she felt an awkward feeling stir up in her. She began to check every nook and cranny of the house but she was nowhere to be found. What was going on?
She quickly, placed a call to Lannon as she ran out of the house, back to her car and zooming off immediately. She was scared because so much had happened and she was starting to feel insecure. If they had kidnapped Ivory, then they would definitely come for her.

Lannon was her only source of comfort so she was going back there.

Once he picked the call, she said “Lila’s mum is missing. I don’t know how! I don’t know why!” she was panicking teribbly.

“Where are you?” Lannon asked hurriedly, prolly sensing the panic in her voice.

“On my way back to your mansion” she replied in hitched breath.

“Hurry”came Lannon reply and she nodded like as if he could see her before ending the call.

She drove in high speed and in less than an hour she was at his house. Lannon was waiting for her at the front porch of his mansion anxiously, but didn’t let it out so much.
Once Sam got to where he was, she fell to the ground fidgeting cause her legs were so weak to hold her. It was a usual attitude she had whenever she panicked.

“I’m frightened Lannon. I am sure, she didn’t go anywhere. She barely knows her way around”she explained more to the quiet Lannon.

“Are there camera’s inner and outward of your house?”he asked and that was when her brain began to tick as she stood up from the ground and ran to her car to get her phone before running back to Lannon who anticipated what she wanted to do

“I install CCTV camera’s. I can check using my phone” she said”I’ve just been so stupid” she hit her head for fustratingly and then quickly unlocked her phone and opened the CCTV app where she usually checked footages.
She clicked on the footage of that day and it began to play. They watched with keen interest.

A car drove into her compound and then a man got down from the car. He was bald with a neatly white trimmed beard but they couldn’t see the face
The man knocked on the door and Lila’s mother opened. Not long after a very weird conversation of which they didn’t hear the wordings, the man R@P£D her.

Sam shook in despair and Lannon remained unperturbed.

Few minutes later, the man was carrying Lila’s mum that had passed out and he looked so familiar from behind but Sam couldn’t just fathom who he was and then he put Lila’s mum into his car and was about entering the car when he turned, the camera finally caught the face. Sam was quick to pause the video as she widened her eyes in realisation.

“Isn’t this Lila’s father?”she asked just to be sure. “This is him!”she pointed to the pictue as she enlarged the screen and cleaned her eyes to be extra sure. “Oh my God. It’s him!”she screamed.

“Yes, it’s him”came Lannon’s reply as he bawled his hands in a fist. He now knew why he hadn’t found Lila. He understood why it was so hard because she was kidnapped by a man who was supposedly dead. How could a father be that mean to his daughter and wife! He almost punched the wall beside him but he restrained himself as he now knew it would be much easier to find Lila since he knew who had her.
So, he stormed into the house fustratingly, leaving Sam all shocked and unstable. She had taken in so much reality for one day.

It was morning again and Lila woke up quite early, without them having to pour water on her. She was in bitter agony as she heard the laughter and cheers of Scott and the other men seated around a table afar from her, masticating their breakfast.
One of the men, threw a squeezed bread to her, noticing she had woken and it landed few meters away from her. She struggled to get the bread as her mouth watered but it was just so impossible. They’ve starved her so much.
As they watched her, struggle shamelessly to get the bread, they all laughed and then Scott suddenly stood noticing the presence of their boss in the large space. Every other person stood up too and Lila just had to look at the man, who wanted her dead. He was wearing a mask and she had no strength to even think if she found him familiar.

“Untie him and bring him to me”the man motioned toward Rodger at the other end and then he left.
Scott quickly moved to where Rodger was and then, unlocked his chain with the key he held.
“You are lucky!”he patted Rodger’s shoulder before raising him up from the rough floor.

Rodger had a smirk on his face as he dragged Scott back, who was about leaving.

Unknown to both of them, the key in Scott’s hand fell to the ground and it landed atop of the bread that had been thrown to Lila earlier, so it didn’t make a noise.

“What do you want now?” Scott asked.

“You should know that he didn’t release me for no reason Scott. Probably he wants a job to be done”Rodger said.

“That is none of my business Rodger. Go take a bath, you stink!”Scott scrunched up his nose in disgust and vivid irritation before motioning to one of the men by the table side to escort Rodger out.
Him and the others quickly left, to meet their boss for their regular meetings.

Now it was just weak Lila alone in the large space and her head was bent low, not wanting to be disturbed. But, her eyes suddenly caught something shining atop of the bread that had been thrown to her and when she looked closely, it was a key. She practically, screamed in her mind for she was too weak to let it out.
“Holy Christ!!”she yelled inwardly as some kind of active nerves sparked up in her or had probably awoken.

She had to get that key, maybe it was the key to unlock her chain. No matter what, she had to try.
So ,she began to stretch her chained legs forward but it didn’t reach up to the breaded key. She tried again but it still didn’t work. Luckily, there was a tiny twig close to her leg. So, she gradually used her toe to pick up the twig. It was inbetween her big toe and the other toe next to it.
She began stretching her leg forward to the breaded key and it finally reached. She struggled to push the bread with the twig as it rolled continuously towards her, till it stopped to a place where her legs could grab it at ease.
She began to use her legs, infact her thighs to push the key and it rolled to her chained hands behind her back. She felt fulfilled as she grabbed the key off the bread excitedly. It took her so much a long time to do all her deeds. So, just as she finally held the key, Scott and the other man walked in.
Her breath hitched, and she gulped nothing and pursed her lips in nervousness. Scared that they might find out what she’d been up to. She held the key tightly in her sweaty palm as she noticed Scott was coming towards her.

“Hey!”he called call out to her hearing and she looked at him, breathing hard. Wondering what they’d do to her if she was caught.
He walked up to her and crouched to the her level on the ground. She prayed earnestly that he wouldn’t find out she held the key. Then, he touched her forehead and felt it.
“You are sweating” he muttered curiously because it was so weird to find her sweating when she did nothing.

Lila’s averted her eyes away from him and she thought of what to say. Then, she saw that lump of squeezed bread beside her and she quickly said
“I was trying to get that bread. That’s why I am sweaty” she lied, stuttering.
It seemed he believed her because after some minutes of scrutinizing her, he stood up and went back to join the happy men around the table.
She let out a sigh of relief, wondering how she was going to try put the keys.

*********
Ivory woke up close to an incinerator as she removed the dirt scattered on her body. Her brain ticked and she remembered how she had escaped from Dave. She was so tired, she had decided to rest by that incinerator. All she had to do now, was to find a way to reach Sam and tell her that Dave was the person behind Lila’s kidnap and also she had to protect what Dave wanted.
It was a Russian treasure that cost billions of dollars. She was half breed, half Russian and half American. She was not the treasure keeper but for the sake of her family, she had to protect it.
She was too tired of even thinking anymore, so began working aimlessly, having it in mind that Dave would definitely be searching for her.
She put it on and began to locate her way out as she ran as fast as she could.
