But Luke didn’t return the hug.
She broke the hug to face him.
“Luke????”
WHO ARE YOU????
*********Few hours earlier (BROOKE’S HOSPITAL)*********
“Oh no”
“What’s wrong?” Dina asked her mom
“They found out” She said as she narrated everything to Dina. From how she met him that day in a terrible state, taken him in for treatment and to her kidnap.
“They thought I took a package that I know nothing about not knowing I had saved the soul they wanted to ki||. So after my escape, I felt they were watching me but now, they have found out that Luke is alive”
“What!!!” Dina exclaimed still trying to assimilate all her mother told her.
“Mom…” Dina called “I’m sorry, I’m sorry I suspected yo….”
“It’s alright baby. I acted too suspicious though” Elena said “But those guys might be coming to finish what they started. We can’t move him in this state. We have to wake him”
“Okay, mom. What can I do to help?”
“I think you should call the police. I have a nurse that has been assisting me.”
“What if they come before the police?”
“The door can be locked from inside which will be able to stall them for fifteen minutes”
“Okay, but I’ll have to head over to Jewel’s. There’s something I must do” Dina said heading out
“Please stay safe” Elena said after her
***********JEWEL’S MANSION************
“No no it can’t be” Glena said. Just then Dina ran in.
“Guys, something came up and I need all the help I can get” Dina said not noticing the suspensive environment. “What’s going on?” Dina asked looking from one head to the other.
“Jewel is missing” Mira said.
“You must be crazy” Dina said chuckling a bit as she turned facing Glenda to Grandma. The two looked like something sad had happened. She turned Alex and cleared her throat.
“Hey Mr. crazy pants, what’s going on?”
“The name is Alex”
“There’s no difference between Alex and Crazy Pants. So tell me, WHAT’S GOING ON??”
“Jewel is missing”
Dina laughed at Alex’s reply “You must be crazy just like your pants” She turned to Grandma and Glenda but the look on their faces said it all. “You’re kidding right??”
Dina looked from one face to another “Auntie, tell them it’s not true” Dina said but tears flowed from Glenda’s eye’s. “NOO!!!!!” she said, loosing her balance but Alex was quick to catch her.
Just then Luke appeared.
“LUKE” Grandma called making everyone alert. Immediately, Glenda rushed towards Alex as she took the glasses from him, wearing it.
“please tell me you found her”
“I’m sorry” Luke said and Glenda fell dejectedly on the chair.
“I think she was kidnapped by Mr. Ryder” Luke said making Glenda sit upright
“What makes you think so?”
“Because I have gotten my memories back”
After that he began narrating to her everything he knew while Alex, Mira and Dina would wait till they were done to listen to everything later.
“Are you really sure it is Ryder?” Glenda asked and Dina sat up.
“Ryder????”
“I remember something” Dina said aloud as she began narrating her mother’s part of the story.
“Everything points to Mr. Ryder. So what’s our plan. We need to bring him down once” Mira said looking at everyone.
“I have one” Dina said.
“Sometime ago, I placed a tracking device on Jewel’s phone as well as a recording app. So I will just find out where she is. The recording app would record their conversation and maybe we can use that as evidence for the police. Grandma will stay home and contact the police. I and auntie (Glenda) would go over to Jewel to see if there is anything we can do till the cops would arrive. And lastly Alex would go over to the hospital and help my mom” Dina said
“Excuse me, aren’t we forgetting something?” Mira asked and everyone faced her “What I’m I supposed to do?”
“You have nothing” Dina said
“Well I can follow Alex”
“No” Dina objected immediately
“Why no?” Mira asked
“You can stay with Grandma if you want but not with Alex. I will be following him” Dina said. She just doesn’t know why she can’t stand Mira been around Alex.
“You are going with Auntie to meet Jewel and I will assist Alex, full stop” Mira said
“Can I ask Dina something?” Luke asked and Glenda gave the glasses to Dina.
“I wanted to ask why they have to go the hospital????”
Dina looked at Luke. Should she tell them???? Maybe it’s for the best
“Well, there is one one thing I haven’t told you guys” Dina said making everyone face her
“LUKE IS ALIVE”
*****THREE WEEKS LATER*******
The past weeks has been one of it’s own kind. The plan had gone well. After the arrest of Zach and his dad, things were different. Jewel walked slowly out of the school building with Natasha by her side. Well that’s a long story. After when transpired between Natasha’s dad and Glenda, Natasha turned a new leaf. Well maybe that’s what she wants people to think. Her dad was having issues managing his business so Natasha literally begged for forgiveness from Jewel. Jewel forgave her and Natasha was trying to become friends with her which Jewel wasn’t interested in. “So today we will be going shopping at….”
“Excuse me????? I didn’t know the day we became friends” Jewel said slowly
“I thought you forgave me?”
“I said I forgave you not befriend you” Jewel said walking away.
Natasha stood there watching Jewel walk away.
“Aish!!! That brat!!!! Who does she think she really is? I’m only doing this because my dad needs her mom’s influence to stable his company” Natasha hissed loudly
“I can hear you” Jewel said from where she was as she walked away with a smirk on her face.
👤: Hello
Fellow colleagues greeted as she walked past them. Well they all wanted to become friends at least not enemies. Who wouldn’t want to be friend the daughter of the main investor of your school???
Jewel finally walked out of the school only to meet a series of reporters outside.
👤: There she is
One reporter said aloud and Jewel stood fixed to the ground. She waited a while and soon guards arrived to make shield her from the multitude of reporters.
👤: How did you find Luke?
👤: What was your reason for helping him?
👤: Did you help him because his case was connected to your dad’s case?
👤: Or did you help him because you were one of his die hard fans?
👤: Answer one question please
So many questions flowed from different angles till she finally entered the ride that was waiting for her.
‘Hmmm’ She breath in relief. Dina wasn’t here. She was with Alex. No really knew what was going on between those frenemies because they have been spending more than enough time together. Mira travelled out of the country the previous week and Luke….
Jewel looked out the window. She could see herself on big TV screens. The news of what had happened made her the talk of the town. Her mother had gained more attention. Glenda has been busy lately trying to keep up the company. Investors had piled up and sales had increased thrice the usual. But despite this, Glenda still comes home to Jewel. Grandma had returned to her mansion few days back.
Elena was known as the doctor of tommorow for saving Luke’s life. Brooke couldn’t be more proud of his wife.
Jewel picked up her phone as she connected to the internet. The first notification that popped up was Luke: Our Star We Thought We Would Never See
“Stop the car” Jewel ordered and the driver did as told. “You can go back, I want to be alone”
She sat on a bench. The clouds were dark indicating incoming rain. Jewel sighed as she went through Luke’s pictures on her phone. it’s been three long weeks. Three f-__-king weeks. How long was she supposed to wait. How long should she wait, praying for Luke to remember her. Just, how dare he forget her. Why would he wake up from coma and forget about a month they spent together. Why her??? Just why her????? Jewel thought inwardly as a rain drop fell on her. The thunder rumbled slightly as she lifted at her head to see the dark sky. Maybe the sky could feel her pains. Maybe that’s why they are crying together. Maybe, just maybe she was really born to be alone. Thoughts clouded her mind as she sat quietly on the bench. Soon it started raining. The cold raindrops poured on her skin. The rain mixed with her tears as it flowed freely but Jewel cared less. Her mind was clouded with thoughts of Luke. She remembered the time he had put the alarm very close to her ear and increasing the volume so the alarm would ring loudly in her sleep. She chuckled slightly at the thought as the cold rain continued falling. She remembered the time he had disturbed her during lectures that she had shouted JUST SHUT UP. Memories upon memories kept flowing in and out of her eyes. Then she remembered when she had told him to go. Those same words rang in her head ‘THE NAME IS JEWEL AND PLEASE LEAVE’
She really didn’t mean those words. So why does fate have to be cruel. Why is mother nature so wicked? Does she have to be alone? Why do the people she loves tend to go away? Was it really necessary for him to forget her?
The thunder rumbled loudly as the rain fell heavier. Jewel shivered on the bench she was sitting on but didn’t make any attempt at looking for shelter.
“Jules”
She heard the voice she had always longed for. She was about turning her head when she shook the idea off. “I must be hallucinating again”
“Jules” The voice called again, closer and louder.
“I think I need to visit the therapist” Jewel said folding her knees to cuddle in the rain when she noticed the rain stopped touching her.
“Huh?? It stopped raining already???” Jewel asked, looking up only to see an umbrella. She turned slowly to come face to face with Luke.
She blinked her eyes severally as she thought she was hallucinating.
“Jules” Luke called the third time while Jewel could only stare.
“Let’s leave the rain, you could catch a cold” Luke said picking up Jewel’s hand to walk away from the rain but Jewel held him tightly making Luke halt in his tracks. “Jules….” Luke couldn’t finish his statement as Jewel engulfed him in a tight hug.
The umbrella fell from Luke’s hand and the rain poured on the both of them.
“Is it really you?”
“Yes”
“I miss you” Was the only thing he heard Jewel said as she held him in a crushing hug. He could feel her sobbing slightly with her head buried in his chest. She was hurt. This broke his self defense as a tears fell of his left eye.
“Jules I’m sorry. I’m sorry for forgetting you. My memories came back. Even when I forgot everything, you were still in my heart. Now, standing here with you, I realize how much I missed you. I’m sorry for leaving you, for not being there when you needed me…”
Luke couldn’t complete his statement as he felt a pair of warm lips pressing closely on his.
Jewel slowly broke the kiss because Luke didn’t respond. She blinked her eyes slowly.
“Just promise me you would never ever forget or leave me”
“I promise……..and I love you too” Luke said as he reconnected their lips.
His hands went to her slender waist as he pulled her closer while Jewel’s hands found their way to his hair. They kissed hotly, their tongues battling for dominance. The sky rumbled loudly as the rain kept pouring but they could care less. It was just them and them alone.
It will always be them… FOREVER, AND EVER… AND ALWAYS.
