Chapter Forty-seven
With the party still going on and people enjoying themselves, Mr George and Mr James were chatting with some group of men while the women were chatting and smiling with some other group of invitees, Daisy was with her cousins and her friends and they were having fun.
Meanwhile, Desmond was in the garden seated with his head bowed after getting tipsy from drinking too much. Jasmine came out to take some air and she caught sight of him.
“Desmond? What is he doing out here alone?”.She wonders and then walks up to him.”Desmond”.She called and Desmond raised his face to her and let out a smile.”What are you doing out here alone? Are you ok?”
“Mm”.He nodded looking drunk.
“Did you get drunk”.She asked as she perceived the smell of alcohol in his body.
“Yeah, just a little”. He said.
“Why did you drink? You never drink, what happened that made you tipsy?”.She sighed tiredly at him. “Ok, let me get you water”.She turned to leave, but Desmond grabbed her hand and stood up straggling on his feet.
“Don’t go”.He said as he took her hands and both were facing each other.”Please stay”.He smiles.
“You look horrible when you are drunk”.She said and Desmond smiled.
“You think so?”.
“Yeah, you need to see yourself in the mirror right now”.She teases. “Let’s go inside”.
“No, I don’t want to go inside, I want to be here with you alone”.He smiled and tucked her hair behind her ear. “You look absolutely gorgeous tonight”.
“Is that a compliment?”.She asked smiling and Desmond nodded. “You are so funny, I wish I could take a video of you right now, so, that when you finally get yourself back, you will be embarrassed by it”.She giggles and Desmond stares deep into her eyes.
“I love it when you smile like that at me, I want you to always smile like that to me and not someone else”.He smiled caressing her face and Jasmine became nervous.
“Why?”.
“Because it pisses me off when I see you smiling and chatting with someone else, I want to be the only one that can make you laugh, I want to be the only one that can tease you and make you angry because I love it when I tease you”.He said smiling and pulled her closer to himself closing the gap between them. “Don’t ever smile like that to anyone, do you understand me?”.
“What are you saying Desmond? You are drunk right now”.She said nervously as her heart was pounding fast.
“Am I?”.He chuckled.
Their eyes interlocked and they could feel their heart beating fast, Jasmine couldn’t understand what was going on with her and the same goes for Desmond, they could feel butterflies in their stomach.
“What is going on with me? Why am I feeling strange toward Desmond? Why am I so anxious and why can’t I stop looking at his eyes?”. Jasmine thought to herself as their eyes were still clue on each other.
“Am I really drunk right now? What are these strange feelings am feeling inside? Why do I feel attracted to her? Why can’t I stop staring at her eyes?”. Desmond thought to himself and just then he collapsed on her body.
“Hey”. Jasmine said trying to balance her posture from falling. “Gosh, you are so heavy”.She groans.
“How dare you!”.Daisy interrupted her from behind immediately she saw them, she moved closer and pushed her off, Jasmine fell off and her hand was pierced by a broken glass.”Get away from my brother, you slût!”.She yelled and Jasmine was groaning in pain.
“Jasmine”. Blake called surprisedly seeing what Daisy did to her. “What have you done?”.He yelled at Daisy seeing Jasmine’s hand gushing out blood.
“I didn’t do anything to her”.Daisy said and Blake frowned at her.
“I saw you pushed her”.He helped Jasmine up and then the rest cousins came over and were surprised to see what was going on.
“Oh my gosh, Jasmine, what happened to your hand?”.Jeff asked curiously and Blake pointed an accusing finger at Daisy.
“Daisy did this to her”. Blake said.
“It was an accident, I was only trying to protect my brother from her”.She said holding tight to unconscious Desmond.
“What happened to Desmond?”.2nd cousin asked.
“I don’t know what she did to him, I found him like this”.Daisy said blaming Jasmine.
“I didn’t do anything to him, he is drunk and he passed out”. Jasmine said defending herself.
“Come on, let’s take Desmond to his room, he is heavily drunk”.Jeff said as he took Desmond from Daisy and supported him on his shoulder. “You guys you should take care of Jasmine’s wound”.He said and left with Desmond.
“I will tell Mom about this”.Blake said angrily at Daisy and left with Jasmine and the rest cousins followed them behind. Daisy stares hard after them and grunts in frustration.
Jasmine’s hand was treated by Mr George and they got angry at Daisy after Blake told them what happened.
“Why did you push her? Just look at the pain she is going through”.Mrs.Ava quarrels.
“It was an accident, I didn’t mean to push her”.Daisy said sadly with the way everyone was against her.
“Look at her hand”. Grandma said.
“Jasmine, are you feeling alright?”.Mrs Lucia asked sadly and Jasmine nodded.
“Am sorry for what Daisy did”. Mr.George said.
“Come on Daisy, apologize to her”.Mrs.Ava said.
“Why should I? I told you all it was an accident”.She said frowning.
“That is the main reason you should apologize, what you did was uncalled full”. Grandma said.
“They are right, Jasmine wasn’t doing anything wrong with Desmond, beside she was just helping Desmond because he was drunk”.Jeff said and Daisy hesitated.
“Am sorry”.She said nonchalantly.
“That is not how to say sorry, say it like you mean it”. Blake said and everyone agreed with him.
“Am sorry”.She said and dashed out of the room.
“Am sorry for what she did”.Mrs.Ava said.
“It’s ok Mom, am fine”. Jasmine said.
“Desmond will get pissed off if he knows about what Daisy did to you”. Blake said.
“There is no need for that, everything is fine now and thank you all for helping”.Mr. James said.
“Of course, Jasmine is our daughter and she always be and that makes us family”. Grandma said and everyone laughed.
“Grandma, how about I make her your daughter-in-law”.Jeff said jokingly and everyone laughed.
“Yeah right, you think Jasmine will accept you”.3rd cousin said.
“Why?” he turned to Jasmine.”Am I not good enough?”.
“Don’t dream it, Jeff”. Jasmine said and they laughed.
“Well, let’s see about that”.Jeff said.
“Give up bro, she is not yours”. Blake said.
“Yeah, wh@ťěver”.
“Come let’s go back to the party, the guests are waiting for us”.Mr George said as they all stood up and left.
