Chapter Twenty
A month later, one night,. Jasmine was heading to her parent’s room to tell them what she wanted for her birthday, Isabella story don’t copy, she got to their doorstep and was about to knock, when she heard their conversation and decided to eavesdrop.
“How do you mean?”.Mrs.Lucia asked tensely.
“I don’t know Lucia, I have lost everything, my money, and my job as well, if I had known David couldn’t be trusted I wouldn’t have stood as his guarantor”.Mr.James said sadly.
“This is not good, how do we tell Mom and Jasmine, you know her birthday is tomorrow and we need to throw a party for her since it’s her first time of celebrating her day with us”.
“I don’t know, I still need to pay back David’s debt, the people he borrowed from are in my neck and I need to pay them back before tomorrow”.
“Oh no, this is bad, but how much are we talking about here?”.She asked.
“About $100, but have $60 with me, I still need an extra $40 to complete it, I have been saving that money for Jasmine’s party tomorrow, I wanted to surprise her”.He said.
“This is very bad, what is their demand if we don’t pay up?”.She asked.
“They will seize all our belongings and make us homeless”.
“No, we can’t let that happen, I will give you the $40 to add to it and pay them up”.She said and Mr. James was surprised.
“Where did you get that money from?”.
“Is actually for my store rent, I was planning on paying the landlord the money, but he refused and said he didn’t want me in his shop again, I found another place and the amount was the same and I was planning on paying the woman tomorrow”. Isabella story don’t copy.
“No, I can’t accept this money from you, your shop is more important”.
“No, our belongings and house are more important, I can save up for it next time”.

“No, but, just pay them up to avoid problems, don’t worry, you will get another high-paying job”.
“What about Jasmine’s party tomorrow?”.

The Next morning, everyone was already at the dining table waiting for Jasmine, she came out all dressed up in her uniform, and she could see the forced smile on their faces, but she decided to keep it cool, pretending like she knew nothing.
“Good morning!”.She said happily and sat down.
“Here comes the birthday girl”.Mr.James said and they cheered her up.
“Thank you”.She gave a bow.
“Happy Birthday my princess”.Mrs.Lucia said.
“Thank you, Mom”
“I pray may you be favored always and be honored wherever you go”.Grandma Alma said.
“Thank you, Granny”.
“No, tell us what you want for your birthday”.Mr.James asked and Jasmine thought for a while.
“You promise to do anything I will ask for?”.
“Yes, sure”.He reassures her.
“Ok, I will want my favorite paste to be cooked and we can eat it together at my birthday party tonight”.She said and they were surprised.
“Really? Is that what you want? “.Mrs.Lucia asked.
“Yes, that’s what I want, we can have a bigger party next year, but this is what I want”. Isabella story don’t copy.
“Ok, if you say so”.She said and they started eating.

Some moments later, She arrived at school to see Daisy giving out cards to everyone, while Blake and Desmond were leaning beside their car looking. students were coming to present gifts for Desmond. It is always their thing in school, anytime is their birthday, students tend to give Desmond a lot of presents and less for Jasmine, But now, a lot of students are presenting their gifts to them equally. Jasmine stood from afar as she continued to watch them, and then she saw Olivia giving Daisy a box of chocolates and flowers to Desmond, that’s what Olivia always does whenever is their birthday.
“Happy Birthday!”.Olivia said as she hugged Daisy and handed over the card to her.
“Hope to see you tonight”.
“I won’t miss that for anything”.She said and the rest girls took the cards from her and started sharing them around including Olivia.
“Jasmine”.Blake yelled immediately she saw her walking to the school building, everyone turned in her direction. Isabella story don’t copy. Blake took the gift he had prepared for her and rushed to where she was standing.
“Hey”.She smiled as they hugged each other and then pulled away. “How have you been?”.
“Bored, have missed you”.
“Me too”.They smile at each other.
“Look, I got you a present, happy birthday”.He said and Jasmine took the gift from him.
“Thank you, I really appreciate it”.She said and hugged him.
“Hey, Jasmine”.Daisy interrupts them and they pull away from each other to see her with her friends and some other students. “I heard is your birthday today”.
“Yeah”.
“Oh, I see, will your parents be able to throw you a party? I heard you love parties a lot when it comes to your birthday, but it’s such a shame you won’t be having any”.She mocked and they laughed.
“Snap out of Daisy”.Blake said angrily.
“Is ok, Blake, there is no need to be angry”.Jasmine said.
“So, I will urge you to come to mine, there will be free food and beverages for everyone”.Daisy said and Blake frowned at her.
“No, thanks, having my family around is enough for my birthday, if you don’t mind, I will rush to class”.She said and turned to Blake. Isabella story don’t copy. “Thanks for the present, see ya”.
“Sure, take care of yourself”.Blake said and She walked away.
“Too bad”.Olivia scoffed.
“Why are you so rude? I thought you were her best friend”.He said talking to Olivia.
“Well, she switched, do you have a problem with that?”.Daisy said.
“You all are unbelievable”.He said and walked away.
Some hours later, everyone left for lunch, except for Jasmine, who was all alone in the classroom checking out the gift Blake gave to her, she was excited to see a milk teddy bear and a lunch box inside the bag and she wondered.
“Hmm”.She opens the box to see different varieties of food and fruit. “Wow, it smells nice”.She placed everything back in the bag and ran to the school’s roof.
Meanwhile, Desmond hides staring at her, although he hides the lunch box inside the bag without Blake knowing. Isabella story don’t copy. He smiled when followed her to the roof to see her eating the food with so much excitement.
“Gosh! I have missed this”.She said with her mouthful.
