Chapter Ten
Mr. James and his family drove to the mansion in a taxi, except for Grandma Alma who insisted on staying at home. They came down and knocked on the gate.
“Wow! This mansion is so beautiful”.Fiona said happily and the gate opened.
“Let’s go”.Mr. James said as they walked inside.
The dining table was set with different varieties of mouth-watering food. Jasmine was helping her mother to set up the dining, then the doorbell rang.
“I guess they are here”.Mrs.Ava said as she left to open the door.”You are here”.She said and greeted them warmly.
“Wow!”.Fiona gasped.”This is beautiful”.
“Please this way”.She said and led them to the dining table.
“You all are welcome”.Jasmine said politely.
“Thank you”.Mrs.Lucia said smiling and they sat down.
“You are here”.Mr.George said as he climbed down from the staircase and shook hands with Mr. James before he sat down.
“Your house is amazing sir, I love it”.Fiona said.
“Thank you”.Mr.George said and then Blake came down.
“Woah, what an occasion”.He said and greeted Mr. James and his wife firmly before he sat down.
“This is my youngest son, Blake”.Mrs.Ava said.
“Wow, he is so handsome in person”.Fiona said.”Am Fiona”.She introduced herself.
“Nice to meet you”.Blake replied.
“Where is Desmond?”.Mr.George asked.
“He is on the phone with his friends, he will be joining us soon”.Blake said.
“What an @$$h0le, he knew we are having a guest, and now we are to wait for him, who does he think he is”.Jasmine frown.
“I heard that”.Desmond said from the staircase. Fiona became enchanted by his look and started drooling over him as he was climbing down the stairs.
“Wow! Such a beauty!”.Fiona thought and suddenly snapped out of it.
“I am not afraid of you”.Jasmine said and Desmond scoffed as he took his seat.
“This is Desmond, my first son, Jasmine’s twin brother”.Mr. George said and Desmond gave them a slight bow.
“Wow, are you a goddess?”.Fiona asked smiling at Desmond who stared confusedly at her.
“No, why did you ask?”.
“Because you definitely look like a goddess of beauty, because you are so handsome”.She said blushing and Jasmine scoffed.
“Yeah right!”.Jasmin said.”Don’t fall for him if I were you, believe me, behind that face, there is a beast”.Jasmine said and Desmond scoffed.
“Why do I feel you are jealous of me because I get more vibe and attention from people than you”.Desmond said and Jasmine gave him a disgusting look.
“Please let’s eat before it gets cold”.Mrs.Ava said.
“Are they always like this?”.Mrs.Lucia asked.
“Yes, they fight all the time”.Blake said.
“That’s kind of cute, I wish I had siblings that I could fight and argue with”.Fiona said and her parents looked at each other.
“I won’t wish for that, I prefer Blake to him, I wish I was a twin with Blake and not him because he is a pain in the neck”.Jasmine said and everyone laughed.
“That’s why I am adorable”.Desmond gloats and Jasmine rolls her eyes.
“Please, let’s respect the table manners”.Mrs.Ava said and all became calm as they started eating, Desmond and Jasmine were staring hard at each other.
Some moments later, after dining everyone was seated in the living room diluting their meal with orange juice.
“The food was amazing, I really enjoyed it”.Fiona said.
“Am glad you do dear”.Mr.George said smiling at her and everyone was quiet for a while and then he spoke after they made eye contact with Fiona’s parents.”Um, actually, there is a reason why we had this dinner gathering”.He said and all the children turned their attention to him.
“Is there a problem Dad?”.Desmond asked.
“Not really, is something everyone needs to know”.He said and sighed.
“We have something to share with every one of you concerning what has been happening for days now”.Mrs.Ava said sadly.
“Why do I have this feeling that this is going to be bad”.Blake said.
“Is not bad son”.Mr. James said and the women became emotional as tears filled their eyes.
“What is going on?”.Fiona asked her parents.
“We are….”.Mr. George sputtered.
“Can someone just tell us what is going on and stop putting us in suspense”.Desmond said getting pissed off.
“We don’t know how to say it”.Mrs.Ava sniff and Jasmine move to sit with her and hold her hand.
“Mom, please tell us what is going on?”.Jasmine asked.
“Are we going bankrupt?”.Blake asked curiously.
“We are not Jasmine’s biological parents”.Mr.George blurted out and the children were in great shock.
“WHAT!!!”.Desmond said and Jasmine pulled back from her mother.
“And we are not your biological parents either”.Mr. James said to Fiona and everyone was in a state of confusion.
“What are you talking about?”.Fiona asked confusedly.
“You both were switched during childbirth”.Mrs.Ava sobs as she grabs onto Jasmine’s hand firmly. “But you are still my daughter”.
“Mom, what are you talking about? Am confused”.Jasmine said as tears crawled down to her cheeks.
“Wait, I am confused here, this mean Jasmine is not a twin sister to Desmond or Desmond had no twin sibling at all”.Blake asked confusedly.
“He does, Fiona is his twin sister”.Mr.George said.
“What?”.Fiona said surprisedly.
A moment later, after Mr.George explained everything to them.
“That’s was how it happened”.He said.
“No”.Jasmine stood up and rushed to her room sobbing.
“Jasmine”.Mrs.Ava called and ran after her.
“You really got to be kidding me”.Desmond said as he stood up and left for his room including Blake.
“I can’t believe you two will do this”.Fiona said angrily at her parents and walked away ignoring her mother’s call.
Meanwhile, Jasmine squeezed herself onto the bed sobbing bitterly, Mrs.Ava entered and rushed to cuddle her in her arms.
“Please don’t cry, I will always be your mother”.She said sobbing quietly.
“Please tell me is not true”.She sobs and then Mr.George enters.
“Jasmine”.He moves to join them on the bed and Jasmine hugs him.”Am sorry my child”.He sniffs. They hug each other sobbing.
