Chapter 36 ?

He touched the side of her head with two of his fingers – ‘you must not remember what happened between us’ He pronounced.

He put on his clothes back on, taking one last glance at her, he exited the room. She musn’t remember, at all.

Milena shifts on the bed and sits touching her aching head. What type of headache is this? Did I not sleep well? – She thought as she couldn’t remember anything from yesterday.

She couldn’t even tell if she got a ounce of sleep at all, why is my memory blank?
Her memory only stopped at where she was apologizing to Brittany.

And talking about Brittany, where is she? Why didn’t she sleep here yesterday? – All these questions roamed in her banging head.

She removed the duvet, standing up from the bed. She almost screamed, looking at herself in the mirror.

Brittany and Naptha just left Naptha’s room as they walked to Milena’s room, they met Flynn on the way.

Brittany eyed him, walking past him as she was still angry at why he would place an order for them not to utter a word about him saving her in school.

Prince Flynn seemed unbothered but Naptha was. Why is he up early? And leaving the room?

She didn’t want to intrude so she made to walk past him but stopped when she heard his voice. “Do not say a word about the night to her.” His cold voice sounded.

Naptha was surprised. Did something else happen between them? “But she will—” She said but was cut off when he suddenly walked away, leaving her words hanging.

She sighed, taking the route to Milena’s room. Brittany was standing near Milena and she sensed the tense atmosphere. “What’s happening?” She asked.

Brittany scoffed. “I don’t understand. It seems she doesn’t remember what happened about her demon taking over because of the covenant.” She explained.

Milena looked to and fro. “What happened? My demon? What covenant?” She asked as she wore a free gown.

Naptha sighed. “And why am I naked? Why didn’t Brittany sleep here yesterday night?” She added questions upon questions.

Naptha pulled her to sit. “Let me answer one by one. Yes, your demon took over last night as a result of a certain covenant between you two.” She started.

Milena looked at her. “Is it the covenant about the day I was in that vision and almost died?” She asked and Naptha nodded.

Brittany scoffed. “The covenant is ab—-“She was still speaking when Naptha cut her off. “And the reason why you are naked is because you were burning up last night so, Brittany had to vacate the room for you.” She explained.

Milena sighed. “I’m sorry if I bothered you. I freaked out because I don’t sleep naked.” She apologized, facing Brittany. “But it’s Prince Fly—-” Brittany was cut off again by Naptha.

Naptha pulled Milena up, pushing her into the bathroom. “Okay? Today is another day for school, you don’t wanna be late.” She said and Milena nodded, locking the door.

“What is the meaning of what just happened?” Brittany half yelled and Naptha held her mouth, pulling her out through the door.

She slam the door close. “You will not utter a word about what happened yesterday to her.” She drawled, pointing at the door.

Brittany scoffed. “Can someone just explain to me what is happening here?” She yelled and Naptha covered her mouth again.

Naptha sighed, she knew Brittany won’t let her off if she doesn’t explain. “It’s Flynn.” She started.

“I know it’s him, of course.” She rolled her eyes and motioned to her to continue. “I think he was the one who made her forget last night’s memories and ordered me not to tell her anything.” She explained.

Brittany wasn’t surprised. “But why? What is the reason why he made her forget? That was the same thing he did in school yesterday too.” She inquired.

Naptha sighed. “Somethings are better left unsaid.” She stated.

“f-__-k those things! It’s not anyone’s fault fate made them for each other.” She ranted.

She didn’t wait for her reply as she made to walk away going the opposite way. “Where are you going to?” Naptha asks.

Brittany scoffed. “I’m going to talk some sense into him.” She replied, walking more hastily.

Naptha pulled her back, into her own room. “Just keep it low, will you? I’m feeling sad doing this to Milena as she is like a daughter to me but I have no choice!” It was Naptha’s time to yell.

Brittany’s eyes widened, Naptha has never raised her voice at her before. “I don’t have a choice. I’ve been with Rejou for years and I know what he is like. When he says, you have to follow and that is exactly what I’m doing.” She said.

Brittany eyed her. “But you are doing bad to the other party. You don’t want her to find out, but she will know it sooner or later so why not tell her now?” She said.

Naptha sighed. “I don’t know what to do or which side to be on. I know it is wrong keeping it from her but what choice do I have now?” She asked.

Brittany was silent for a while. “He doesn’t know she is the Enamel right?” She asked and Naptha nodded. “And she isn’t aware of her powers yet.” She stated.

Naptha narrowed her eyes at her, wondering where she is headed to and Brittany chuckled, walking to the door. “What are you saying?” Naptha asked.

Brittany opened the door and made her way outside but suddenly stopped. “She is the Enamel. Just wait till she finds out herself, you will regret it.” She stated.

Naptha’s eyes widened as she heard those words. Those words! It sounded familiar – she has heard it before.

She thought she saw Brittany’s eyes change to another color like she is seeing a vision but Brittany already exited the door and she collapsed on the bed – so complicated than she thought.

They were on their way to school and there was an unusual silence. “Are you still angry about yesterday?” Milena asks, breaking the silence.

Brittany looked at her and sighed. If only she knew what I was thinking about – she thought.

She hooked her hand with Milena’s and managed to smile. “I’m not. We are near school now.” She changed the subject.

Milena’s face lit up with a big smile, she’d meet their friends today. They both walked to their departments gracefully with students looking at them.

The door of the class opened and they both walked in. “Hi babies!” Kristen was the first to appear, followed by Ellen chewing her bubble gum.

Ellen rested on Brittany’s table with her elbows, blowing the gum out. “Yuck! Chewing gum this early morning.” Milena groused.

Brittany smiled, without giving giving Ellen a suspense, she hit the bubble against her lips and they laughed as the gum stucked to her lips.

Ellen glared at her and the others as they made jest of her. Brittany felt unsafe the next second as she brought out some text books slowly.

Milena seemed to have noticed. “What’s wrong?” She asked. “I don’t know? I feel someone is watching me.” She muttered, looking around.

The others too look around for suspects but saw no one. “The witch!” Someone drawled and Brittany looked at Milena who just talked. “Maltilda!” She gasped.

Maltilda made an innocent face, muttering a ‘hi’ “Milena’s demon?” Ellen asks while Kristen hugged her. “I love her….” Maltilda winked, referring to Kristen.

Kristen blushed but was surprised when Maltilda’s angry face replaced her smiling face. “She is the witch I was referring to.” Maltilda says, using her index finger to point to a table.

The table consisting of three girls, the school bullies and queens. “They are the ones responsible for you vomiting blood yesterday.” She says.

Brittany was surprised. “But I don’t remember offending them?” She said. “You don’t have to offend bullies before they attack you.” She shrugged.

“And you might never know if you did offend them.” Kristen added, licking a chocolate bar in her hands. “What do you mean?” Brittany asks.

Ellen made a sound with her bubble gum. “Maybe the one with the. hair h@ťěs that you talked back to her boyfriend.” Ellen said.

Maltilda chuckled. “Don’t tell me she’s dating that old crook?” Brittany almost yelled.

Kristen giggled. “Is it new for a nineteen year old to be dating a fourty year old man?” She giggled again. “The same age to your principal.” Ellen added.

“And he is crushing on Maggie.” Brittany stated. “Tell me you are joking!” Ellen gawked. “Which makes it a love triangle.” Kristen squealed.

“I can’t believe that’s my offence.” Brittany rolled her eyes. “It’s like you poured a hot water on her by doing that.” Ellen says and Maltilda suddenly hissed.

They all looked at her weirdly. “She’s hearing all what you are saying.” She stated.

Bewilderment is little to what was showing on their faces. “Is she a werewolf too?” Kristen asks. “A witch!” Maltilda corrected.

They all composed themselves seeing as the trio stands from their seats, walking towards them. “She’s coming.” Kristen says, behaving like a scared kitten. “I’m outta here.” Maltilda grins.

Milena hold her head it started banging again. “What now?” She asks sensing the quietness and those three friends walking towards them.

They were all surprised when they saw Fire and her two other friends walk away. “Maltilda tricked us.” Ellen started laughing.

“You all should see how you look like.” She says, pointing to their faces. “Especially you.” She pointed to her sister.

Brittany also laughed. “She looked like a scared lost kitten.” She said and Kristen ate her chocolate silently glaring at them.

“I’m lost here.” Milena’s voice sounded and they all looked at her. “Find yourself.” Kristen replied, licking the chocolate off her lips.

Brittany looked at her, muttering a sorry. “Where’s Nora and Christian?” She asks and both Ellen and Kristen look at themselves and started laughing.

Brittany almost banged the table. “The love birds must be somewhere romantic.” Ellen replied.

Milena scoffed. “You think they like each other?” She asked. “Didn’t you see them yesterday?” Kristen asks.

“So? You can’t just conclude like that. What if they are somehow in danger?” She asks. “Look, Christian is our brother and we know him very well.” Ellen says.

Milena rolled her eyes. “Why do you think he likes her?” She wasn’t contented with their answer. “We didn’t think, we know it.” Ellen finalized.

“We are going to look for them. They might be in danger as Milena said, thanks to Maltilda class has been postponed.” Brittany stands up.

“How do you know it’s been postponed?” Kristen asks. “And how sure are you that it’s by Maltilda?” Ellen also asked.

Brittany rolled her eyes. “She pranked us, distracting us by the witch and her friends standing up but the real thing was that she sensed a teacher coming.” She explained.

They nodded, somehow believing her as they strolled out of the class to look for their two other friends.

In the toilet……

Nora walked into the toilet, closing the door. She removed her shirt which was now soaked in her blood.

She didn’t want to come to school today seeing that she was bleeding from all over her body, making her feel weak but her father flogged her to the outside of the house.

Her eyes puffy, red and swollen from too much crying and beating from her cruel father. She looked at the mirror, tears rolling down her bruised eyes.

She opened the tap, dipping the white shirt into the sink and let water soak – wash the blood away.

She made sure she put on a pop socks that reached her thighs to be able to cover all the red marks on the skin of her leg and thanks to the school for the white shirt which covered all of the bruises on her hands.

She was unaware that Christian had diverted from his sisters and followed her into the cubicle of the female’s toilet.

She thought she hid herself from her friends, Christian sisters but he saw her through her hair and followed her.

Tbc……….?

Nora?
