“Valerie, are you okay?” Fernando asked, he knelt down and held her leg which was shot.
“I’m fine” Valerie managed to say.
“We’re ambushed, this is all your fault” Valerie grunted, holding her leg which was already full of blood.
Fernando chuckled.
“This is nothing to me, just hold me tight, okay?” He said.
Though Valerie didn’t understand what he meant, nevertheless she nodded her head.
“What are your waiting for? Fire!!!!” A guy ordered.
Fernando swooped Valerie into his arms, shielding her away from the men.
He brought out two guns from his pocket, holding it tightly while trying to avoid the bullets.
“Close your eyes” he whispered in her ears.
Valerie did as he instructed, she closed her eyes tightly, clinging unto him for dear life. At that moment, she trusted him more than her life.
Fernando looked at the men, stylishly targeting where to hit directly.
He raised his hand and started firing bullets with the two guns in his hand.
He dodge a bullet that was aimed at Valerie, he glare at the guy who pulled the trigger before $h00ting him on his head.
“Bastard” he cussed.
Valerie was trembling badly in fear as different sounds of guns filled the air.
Suddenly, everywhere went silent that she could even hear the sound of a needle when it drop.
Slowly, she opened her eyes, her hands flew to her mouth when she saw different bodies laying on the floor.
She looked at Fernando to find it grunting in pain, he was shot by the arm while trying to save Valerie.
“Ferdie! Are you okay?” She asked.
“I should be asking you that” he gestured at her arm.
Valerie looked at the bodies of the men on the floor before staring at him.
“How did you do this? How did you defeat them?” She asked.
“I’m a Mafia, you shouldn’t expect less” he said.
He placed his hand on her waist and raised her up. Valerie’s legs swayed and he wrapped his hand around her tightly.
“Let’s leave this place” he said, he tried to take a move but she stood rooted to the ground.
“Are you still going to Artuo or Arto?” She asked.
“You’re wounded, you need to treat yourself up” he said.
“If you hadn’t been stubborn, this wouldn’t have happened” she said.
“If you hadn’t insisted on following me, you wouldn’t have gotten hurt. I can take care of myself, you can’t even handle a gun” he muttered.
Valerie bits her lips but suddenly groaned out when an unbearable pain gripped her.
“My leg hurts” she whispered.
Fernando carried her in his arms, her hands subconsciously went around his neck.
“Put me down, your hand is wounded” she struggled to get out of his arms.
“Stay still” he said. He placed her in his arms well before walking to the car.
All through the short walk to the car, she kept staring at him throughout. She couldn’t believe he cared for her while he was injured.
They got to the car, Fernando placed her on the seat before entering the car also.
“Hold on tight, we’ll be at the clan soon” he said.
He drove out of the place immediately. Throughout the drive back to the clan, Valerie held her legs trying not to break down as the pain was getting worse at each moment.
Fernando drive roughly into the garage, he got down from the car and carried her in his arms again.
He was on his way to Camila’s room when he saw Alex and Andres. They both rushed to him when they saw him.
“Boss, what happened? Your arm!” Alex exclaimed, seeing Fernando’s injured arm.
“It’s a long story. Let’s get her treated firsr” Fernando said.
That was when they both noticed Valerie’s bleeding leg.
“f-__-k! How did this happen?” Andres asked.
“Just get me Camila, first” Fernando said.
Alex rushed out of the place and quickly went to call Camila.
Fernando changed his mind and took Valerie to his room, in no time, Camila arrived with a box in her hand.
“My goodness! How did this happen?” Camila gasped.
“Just do what you’re here for” Fernando said icily.
Camila got down to business, she removed the bullet from Valerie’s legs which got her screaming her lungs out till she(Camila) was done.
“You’ll be fine, Valerie” Camila assured, looking at her worriedly.
“Thank you” Valerie managed to say.
“Boss, you need to treat your hand before it gets worse” Camila said.
Fernando looked at his arm before looking at her.
“I’ll be fine, just make sure she’s okay first” he muttered.
“No, you need to get your arm treated, I’m fine” Valerie said.
“Don’t every try to risk your life for me again, I don’t think I’ll get able to forgive you then” he said.
“Then stop being stubborn, you devil” Valerie muttered.
Camila smiled as she watched them, this was truly a sight to behold. Her boss talking freely to a lady? She was surely going to tease Valerie with it.

MINUTES LATER**
Fernando watched as Valerie sleeps peacefully on his bed with just one thought on his mind.
Why did she do what she did? Why did she try to risk his life for her?
He was still thinking about that when Andres entered.
“Can you just tell me what happened? How did you both got injured?” Andres asked.
” It was a trap after all, he did that to lure me out. Too bad he doesn’t know I ain’t that little boy anymore” Fernando chuckled dryly.
“If I should get you right, you mean you we’re ambushed?” Andres asked.
“Yes, I really didn’t know why Val will do that. She got shot” Fernando said.
Andres glanced at Valerie’s sleeping figure before looking at Fernando.
“Are you worried about her?” He asked.
Fernando stared at him.
“You’re getting soft, Fernando. Have you forgotten what Don said? Her life will continue to be in danger if you continue keeping her with you. Just take today as an example, she got hurt because of you” Andres said.
“If you hadn’t taken a gun along with you, how will you be able to defeat those thirty men?” He added.
Fernando stared at him in shock.
“How did you know they were thirty men?” He asked.
