(Two days later)
Charles and Evelyn never spoke to each other since the incident though they went to work together and even stayed in the same office.
It was more like they were invisible to each other.Two days past and things remained unchanged between them.
Charles focused on his work without sparing Evelyn a glance.He had avoided her like a plague since the incident and he made sure there’s no reason they had to exchange a word.
He was still hurt by what happened the other day but after a re-think he realized that there was something else.
He saw tears in her eyes when she rejected him. It was more like she had no other choice but to reject him and he decided to find out what made her reject him. He wasn’t willing to give up on her yet and he was ready to go to the underworld for her.
He checked his wristwatch and it was time for the private appointment he had with his uncles.They had asked to see him and he felt like they had an evil scheme planned nevertheless he wasn’t chickening out.
He stoop up and draped his suit on his shoulder as he made to go out of his office.
“Stay back. It is a private meeting so am going alone.”Charles said to Evelyn when he noticed she was following.
Evelyn paid deaf ears to his words and followed him closely. She had to be with him always to find a perfect opportunity to ki|| him and it seemed like she found one. It was a private appointment and he was going to be alone so she could just ki|| him and vanish quietly.
“Suit yourself then”Charles said and shrugged.
Charles got into the driver’s seat and Evelyn sat beside him.They buckled their seat belt and zoomed off.
Meanwhile,Evelyn noticed a blue car tailing them closely since they left the office and she held tightly onto her gun.
They got to a remote area and there were no cars or houses nearby.All they could see was trees and Evelyn wondered who would choose to have a meeting at a place like that.
“Come down”Charles said as he made to come down.
“Wait”Evelyn said and held him back while he stared at her questioningly.
“Check your left side mirror”said Evelyn and Charles did.
He saw a blue car parked a few meters from them a he turned to look at Evelyn again.She was behaving wired and he didn’t get the message she was passing to him.
“They have been tailing after us from the company and I have a feeling that they are after you.If I may ask,who are you here to meet?”asked Evelyn.
“Really?I didn’t notice them.I am here to meet my uncles.”Charles paused and narrowed his eyes”I hope it isn’t what I am thinking”he added and Evelyn nodded.
“Seems like you aren’t on good terms with your uncles. How fast can you drive?”asked Evelyn and Charles chuckled.
“Am the craziest driver you have ever met,trust me”said Charles as he started the car.
“Let’s do this”replied Evelyn as she pulled out her gun and shot at the blue car.
Charles stepped on the car pedal and started driving while Evelyn kept $h00ting.
The car chased after them and in a minute they were in a hot $h00ting chase.
Evelyn was familiar with situations like this so she knew how to handle them without panicking.She had been in various gang clash that were tougher.
Charles couldn’t focus on driving as he kept on looking at Evelyn to be sure she was okay.He was surprised at how calm she was handling the situation and how good her $h00ting ski||s were.
He could say she was better than a thousand male bodyguard.
Soon they got to the end of the road and before they were on a high cliff.Below was a mighty ocean flowing and behind them were the assassins.
They were caught up between two things and whichever way they chose,their survival wasn’t guaranteed
“Drive,Charlie.I prefer dieing in the water than in the hands of these bastards.”said Evelyn.She didn’t mean it anyway.Her survival wasn’t guaranteed with the assassins but she was a good swimmer and she might be able to swim out with Charles
“I will drive without you telling me.I won’t want to give anyone the satisfaction that he ki||ed me but before then Evelyn do you h@Ε₯Δ me?”asked Charles and Evelyn turned to look at him
“I don’t h@Ε₯Δ you Charles but being with you will only cause problems for you and you already have enough on your plate.”said Evelyn.Without giving Charles time to process her words,she slammed her lips against his as she steered the wheel down the cliff
The men in the blue car came out and looked down the cliff.Two of their men were dead while one was severely injured
Their curiosity was piqued to find out the $h00ter and recruit him or her. It was the first time they had an encounter with such a smart $h00ter and in all gang’s history the only one who could do that was the ki||ING ANGEL
They chose not to believe that the ki||ing angel was in that car with Charles and she just fell down the cliff with him
They got into their car and drove off to inform boss.
