“Why are you avoiding me” He said but she
couldn’t even say anything.
She was just looking at him dumbfounded.
“Is it because you’re not a guy”
His words shocked Maverick to the bones.
Lately she’ve just been hearing shocking words
to the fact that she didn’t know how to act.
“I know you are surprised and shocked so I will
leave you to yourself” He said and left through
the already opened door.
The moment he left, Maverick rested her back
on the door closing her eyes as different
thought ran through her mind.
Like she couldn’t even tell if she would last a
year here. First it was Tracy then Connor and
now Frankie.
She had hope that her secret would be safe but
she didn’t know how long.
She knew that it was a silly idea coming here as
a guy but what would she do when you have a
passion for something you really wanna
become.
She opened her eyes and then bit her lips.
She didn’t even know how Frankie would see her
now knowing fully that she isn’t a guy that he
have always known.
Then she got up and walked slowly to her bed
and slumped on it. Her eyes felt heavy and she
closed them falling into a deep slumber.
******
<NEXT MORNING** CITY CEMETERY>
The rain was drizzling coupled with the wind
blowing wildly everywhere. But that didn’t stop
Frankie from coming here.
Today makes it eight years his Mom and sis
died. He could still remember that day like the
back of his hands.
Then he brought out the pendant from his
pocket and it was a picture of him, his sister
and his mom. They were smiling when the
picture was taken.
But now it was all gone. He tightened his hand
on the pendant that his veins were showing.
Some tears fell from his eyes and this time he
didn’t try to hold them in. He let them fall freely.
Then he located their grave site and then he
crouched in front of it.
“Mum I know you can hear me but just know
that I am doing fine. I’m trying my best to
tolerate Dad’s troubles” he said like as if she
could hear them.
“And you sis, I know you’ve always wanted me
to have a beautiful girlfriend. One who’s
beautiful and cute like you. Don’t worry your bro
is on it” He said and smiled with his teary face.
“Mum I love you and sis so much and if I ever
find out the cause of your death. I would make
sure that the person pays” Frankie said through
gritted teeth. His hands folding on their own.
Then he stood up and wiped his tears and
walked out of the cemetery as the rain fell on
him.
Then he remembered how he met his Mom
dead four years ago.
**FLASHBACK**
Frankie came down from his mom’s car and
then he stretched his hand for his sister to get
down also.
He’s a year older than her so the difference
wasn’t much. When she got down from the car
she smiled at Frankie.
“You are the best” She said and pecked his
cheeks and Frankie flashed a handsome smile
at her.
Then their mom came down from the driver seat
and held their house taking them into the house.
“Mom I wanna go back to the park tomorrow I
had a great time” Frankie said not knowing that
would be the last day he would see his mom.
“Sure baby. I would definitely do that. I don’t
have much work tomorrow at the office so if I
finish up early, we’ll prepare and go” Frankie’s
Mom replied smiling at her two teenager.
“I want to prepare dinner so let me go change
and after that I will prepare the food” She said
and they nodded.
Frankie took his sister’s hands and they went to
their room.
“Frank I saw a very handsome boy in the park
today. He said he didn’t have parents to feed
him and I gave him my ice-cream and some
money I stole from Mom’s purse” Mandy,
Frankie sister said.
“That’s generous but it’s not good to steal but I
won’t report to Mom since you did it for a good
reason” Young Frankie said and Mandy hugged
him tightly.
“The boy was handsome just like you but just
that he was dirty” Mandy said and then Frankie
smacked her head.
“Frank” she whined.
“What do you know about being handsome huh”
Frankie said.
“I don’t care. I gave him my bracelet and then I
told him that once I become successful in the
future I would look for him and then we would
marry” she said with all seriousness.
“What do you even know about Marriage. Get
out” Frankie replied and then she pouted her
lips.
“I’ll go check on Mom” She said and left the
room.
Young Frankie had his bath and then after
playing games on his tab for up to twenty
minutes, he didn’t hear any sounds from his
Mum and sis and he decided to check them in
the kitchen.
Then he went to the kitchen but they weren’t
there, then he went to his Mum’s room and
entered.
When he got in, the first thing he saw was the
lifeless body of his Mum and sis.
He didn’t know when he ran fast to them and
then hugged his Mum body to himself.
“Nooooooo” he screamed as hot tears ran down
his cheeks.
It was like his whole life shattered that day
**FLASHBACK ENDS**
Frankie got into his car and drove back to
school. He dropped the pendant in his jacket
pocket before looking ahead.

Maverick has been moody all day. Partially
cause of the fact that her secret was getting out
bit by bit. And secondly because she hasn’t
seen Frankie all day.
She still doesn’t know why he rarely attends
classes but the most worrying part of all these
was that she wanted to know his thoughts.
Whether he would keep her secret because her
mind has not been at rest since daybreak.
Today was Friday and the last day of lectures
for the week. So lectures today wasn’t much.
The teacher in front of the class was teaching
but she paid little attention. Her mind was else
where.
“What’s wrong with you” Connor asked the
moment the teacher walked out of the class.
“Huh…….. Huh…” She looked around coming
back to reality.
“I didn’t hear you”
“You’ve been so lost in thought. Anything the
problem” He asked and she mumbled a no.
“I’m hungry Gosh” Biggie said disrupting their
interaction while rubbing his potty belly.
“You never get tired of eating” Connor shook his
head and laughed.
Then he turned to the side Maverick was but
she was no longer there. Then he faced front to
see her leaving the class.
“What’s up with him” Biggie asked.
“Ion know” Connor replied.
“I wanna go eat” Biggie stood up and left.
“Wait for me” Connor said arranging his books.

Maverick left the class when she saw someone
that looked like Frankie pass the lecture hall.
She didn’t waste time before going after him.
She wanted to know his opinion.
When she caught up with him, she held his
hand and he turned but the person wasn’t
Frankie.
“I’m sorry” She said and sighed.
Maybe because she wanted to see Frankie so
badly that she has to mistake him for someone
else.
Then she sighed and began going to their room
maybe he was there. And her guess was right.
When she came in their gaze met and they were
staring at each other. Maverick heart was
beating in her chest.
She badly wanted to know what was running in
his mind and it was she was staring at his eyes
to find out through there.
Then she gulped and cleared her throat.
“I know you might be uncomfortable with me
hear but I beg you please don’t report to the
management. I don’t want to be expelled”
Maverick said with her two hands together and
her head bowed.
Then when she heard no words from him she
looked up to seeing him standing close to her.
She gasped and took her gaze back to the floor.
“Please” She pleaded again.
But she heard no response again.
‘why isn’t he saying anything’ she thought and it
made her nervous.
Then she took the confidence and raised her
head up and unknowingly bit her lips.
Frankie’s eyes caught that act and it was he lost
it when she did that.
And then he slammed her back on the nearest
wall in the room and then crashed his lips on
hers.
Savoring the sweet taste from her lips hungrily…
