Chapter 4

Hailey’s pov ?

It was Friday morning. I was having breakfast at the table, replaying last night’s event in my head.

Marie had to go see her son, who was in sick in the hospital, so I gave her permission to leave and told her that I’d make breakfast.

I was brought out of my thoughts by Nathan entering the dining room.

There was no sign of the bimbo from last night. Good thing. Or I might have ended up strangling her.

Nathan looked fresh and clean, dressed in a pale blue dress shirt and grey dress pants with a navy blue tie.

He placed his coat on a chair and proceeded to fix his cuff links, while calling out to Marie.

When no-one answered his calls, he went looking for her, but obviously couldn’t find her.

Frustrated, he entered the dining room and looked at me.

“Where’s Marie?” He asked, acknowledging my presence for the first time.

I looked up and answered, “Her son was in the hospital, so I told her to go see him.”

“I’ve been screaming my throat sore for 10 minutes” he said, glaring at me.

“Can’t see why, when you could have just asked.” I shrugged, standing up to go get his plate.

“Did she prepare my breakfast?” He asked, sitting at the island, across from my seat.

“No, she had to leave early, so I made breakfast”

I said as I placed the plate of bacon, toast and scrambled eggs before him.

He lifted one of his eyebrows probably wondering how I knew his preferred breakfast, but didn’t say anything.

As I was making his coffee, I looked to see him eating his breakfast and I searched his face for signs that said he liked what I made.

Even though I prepared breakfast and sometimes even dinner for us many times, I never got to see his reaction to my cooking, for we never ate together.

I doubted he even knew I cooked for him. However, to my utter disappointment, his face held no reaction now. He just went on eating.

I placed his coffee in front of him to which he muttered a soft ‘thank you’ and sat down to eat my own breakfast.

We ate in silence after that. This was the first time we had eaten a meal together as a couple.

Flashback ⚓from my childhood came back to me,

when my parents were still alive. We used to have breakfast together every morning, laughing around and sharing stuff.

I remembered how my father would always compliment my mother’s cooking and how she would blush.

How sometimes we used to steal from each others plates.

How my mother would prepare my dad’s tiffin and send him off to work with a kiss.

Even though I deny myself love, there’s nothing more I want, than to have that family life again.

My own family. Deep down, it’s one of my most wanted desire, that I now know, I’m not fortunate enough to have.

As we finished eating, I took our plates and went into the kitchen to place it in the sink.

The maids would clean them later. I came out into the dining room as Nathan was putting on his coat.

He looked up, studying me for a second. Then he finally said,

“You’re not going to work.” He must have realised,

since I was dressed in casual clothing compared to the formal outfits I usually wear to work.

I was dressed in a white, button down top and blue high waisted jeans pants, accesoried with a black belt, black clutch and black heels.

No, I’m not.” I replied simply, not telling him my where I was going. Why should I?

He never informed me about his whereabouts and he made it clear that we aren’t to interfere in each others lives.

He raised his brows waiting for me to continue, but when I didn’t, he frowned and asked me where I was going.

“None of your business” came my response. I pushed past him and left the room.

It was clear he didn’t like my response nor did he expect it, but I couldn’t care less.

In truth, I had a doctor’s appointment with my therapist and councillor, and I didn’t want him to know about that.

No one except my brother knew about it. I hadn’t seen Dr. Sinclair in a while,

and I needed to see her to get the events of the past few months, clear and sorted.

=============

After my appointment, I headed to my penthouse since I hadn’t been here in a while.

But as soon as I reached here, I got a call from Melissa Spencer, the head of my event management company, “BEAUTIFUL EVENTS” by Anderson corps.

And yes I had my very own event management company. Let me explain.

So after my grandfather retired, he handed down his company ‘Anderson corp.’

to his only son, my father. But after my father died when I was young, my grandfather was back at the helm of things.

But as me and Aaron were growing up, he trained us in the art of business, so that one day we could take over.

But the two of us didn’t just take over. We expanded and built and added our own companies to the Anderson empire.

I always wanted to be a lawyer, so my grandparents encouraged me to do law,

but my grandfather also made me get my degree in business,

which I really didn’t mind, since I have loved it since I was a child.

When I was still in college at Harvard, I opened my event management company in a small shop.

It was a small project really, for me to support myself on my own in college, but then, with my brother’s help, who saw potential in it,

we turned it into a huge company and added it to our empire.

We brother-sister duo also opened our own publication company, “Anderson media &

publication house” in honour of our mom, who was an author.

We publish new authors, magazines, books and the like.

As I begin practicing law, Aaron took up the load of the empire on his own.

He never complained and let me do what I wanted.

I loved him with all my heart for that, but sometimes I felt selfish, asking him to manage everything on his own.

I know it was very tiring for him, but he made it seem like a walk in the park, but I knew better.

I would help him out often, undertaking various projects but he still managed a large portion of the work load.

Only the event management company and the publication company were under me.

The least I could do for Aaron, was to manage these.

Maybe, after some years I would retire as a lawyer, and take my place in the business.

But not right now. I am enjoying where I am in my career, at the moment.

So where was I? Oh right, so Melissa Spencer, who helps me with the event management company called, and said that there was something important at the company,

that needed me to be there. Knowing Melissa, she would never call me if it was not important,

so I decided to change in a professional attire and leave for the company.

——————-

As I entered the company building, I was greeted by the guards and employees.

I went straight to my personal elevator that took me straight to my office, on the topmost building.

I was in a foul mood as I didn’t get to enjoy my day off.

This better be good, or someone was going to die at my hands.

Dana White, my secretary at this firm was waiting for me near her desk, with two cups of coffees in her hand.

Just what I need. And in case you’re wondering, I have a secretary for each job, to assist me with the particular work and a personal assistant,

Joshua Parker, who oversees everything, and manages me overall. I know, I have a hectic life.

Dana greeted me with a warm smile and handed me a cup of coffee.

As we walked to my office, she filled me in with everything that was going on.

“So what’s this issue?” I asked her.

“Ms Spencer is waiting for you in your office right now and I think she’ll be able to explain better”

I just nodded and pushed the door to my office open and sure enough Melissa was there, waiting for me.

She stood up as I entered. I took my seat and gestured for her to do the same.

“Good day, Ms Anderson” she greeted. Oh yea, my marriage was not yet public so I was still Ms Anderson to everyone.

“I’m so sorry for the inconvenience, but this is an emergency situation.

I wasn’t sure how to make a decision, so I called you.”

I appreciate that Ms Spencer,” I replied in my all-buisness tone. “But what is this situation we are having?”

She took a deep breath and began. “So you know, Hanna Williams, the daughter of Mr Williams, the CEO of Williams co.

came here a few hours prior, and demanded that we arrange her ‘perfect date’ for tomorrow, as it is Valentine’s day.

I tried to explain to her that we can’t do her date at such short notice, and we are already completely booked as there are many events this month.

But she was adamant and thr_@tened us with her daddy’s name and basically threw a tantrum.”

By the time she finished, she was out of breath. She kept rolling her eyes and grimacing as she spoke and it’s safe to say she wasn’t a huge fan of Ms Williams.

And by the sound of it, I couldn’t blame her. She sounded like some rich spoiled brat, who was entitled and your cliche rich mean girl.

This was what she h@ťěd from the upper class society.

I had heard of the name Williams. It was a prominent company, quite reputed, but not that large and definitely no match before the Andersons or Rodriguez’.

But she didn’t want any drama or to make enemies or get on the bad side of anyone. Besides, it was the job of the company to arrange the best events.

I just didn’t want any negative news surrounding the company.

On the plus side, when the pictures of this date made its way to social media, it would be good publicity.

“Can you put together a team?” I asked Melissa.

“All of our best, our already occupied, but I’ll see what I can do.”

“Oh good. I’ll personally take over this.” I told her. She seemed shocked by this, but didn’t say anything.

I asked Dana to arrange a meeting with Ms Williams, and soon I got to work.

======

I finished everything for the date with the team that Melissa gave me,

and I did one final check of everything before I called it a day, or rather a night, since it was already 8:30.

After speaking with Hannah on how she wanted the date, I had everything arranged.

She had chosen a rather expensive restaurant, and booked a section for them alone, so that they could have their privacy.

A band to play romantic music, the design of the room, flowers, menu, wine and the whole lot later, they were done.

I was exhausted by the time I stepped inside the mansion.

I called out for Marie to get me some cold water, but then suddenly remembered that I had given her the day off. $h|t!

Nathan would be home at anytime and I was yet to cook dinner.

There were other maids, but they only came to clean the house and do the laundry and then left.

I dashed into my room, and got in the shower. After taking a quick bath, I slipped into something comfy and ran down to the kitchen.

I decided to make spaghetti and meatballs, along with some Ceasar salad.

I grabbed all the ingredients and hurriedly prepared dinner.

Just as I was finishing with the salad, I heard Nathan return home.

I went out to give him a glass of water, like Marie does for us when we return from work, only to realise that he was not alone.

He was busy sucking the face off of some blonde, while she tugged at his coat, trying to get it off him.

I was starting to lose my patience with his behaviour.

There is only so much a person can take. But I also felt something claw at the walls surrounding my heart at seeing my husband shamelessly making out with someone else.

As if realising they had audience, they broke the kiss.

The bimbo looked me up and down then turned to Nathan.

“Baby, who’s she? Your maid?” She asked him as I stood there dumbfounded. Nathan looked at me and smirked.

“Yea, she is my maid. Don’t worry about her.” He said all the while looking at me.

Now I was furious. How dare he. Wasn’t it enough,

he was that he kept fcking wh*res in my marriage bed while continuosly taunting our marriage and now he insults me in front of his sluts?

But I kept my composure, not wanting to lash out and giving him the satisfaction of seeing me worked up.

Keeping my calm facade up I told him in a monotonic voice, “dinner’s ready”

“I already ate out” was his response, as he went back to making out with the blonde, leading her up to his room.

I put the glass down on the table and sat down on the couch trying to control my rage.

I wanted to scream and punch something. After coming back from work, tired and exhausted,

I still thought about him first and instead of ordering take-out considering how tired I was, I still cooked for him as he didn’t like eating out.

And also because it’s what my mother would have done.

But my dad would never have reacted this way to her. But who am I kidding.

I was never destined to have that now was I.
Sighing I went to the kitchen and put the food away having suddenly lost my appetite.

I wonder how long I could go In this relationship before I finally snapped.
