ANSH’S POV
After Dad hung up, I looked at her. She was indeed an emotional person.
I knew she was. I saw her still engulfed in me.
I don’t even know whether she heard us or not.
Glad I was in the office itself at that time.
My cheeks were still wet. Her eyes were closed now and her breathing had calmed down.
” Ahana… Look at me, Please Sweetie. Have some water.. ”
Her eyes were all red and fluffy due to incessant crying. I helped her drink water.
Some of it spilling out of her mouth. I wiped it with my sleeves. She looked at me and our eyes met.
Her brown orbs clearly depicting pain. A pain that I can’t Heal. I know there were tears in my eyes too.
Ma meant a lot to Ahana. I knew that. She was her everything.
” Ansh…. ” She finally spoke.
” Ma….. ” Saying so she again grabbed me and started crying.
I h@ťěd seeing her like that.
” Ahana… Nothing is gonna happen to Ma. She is going to be perfectly alright. We need to go to her now.
She needs you by her side. Come on.” Ahana didn’t move. I know she was tired already, mentally and physically. She looked sleep deprived.
I grabbed my cell and called Dad. I informed him and he was in shock too. He and grandad were also leaving by their flight.
I called my pilot and asked him to ready the plane. I called Sara and explained everything I told her to pack our clothes and send them to the airport quickly.
She was confused and I told her Dad called and gave this shocking news
” Jen… ”
” Yes.. Sir… ”
” Ask someone to clean up this place. I want it to be as it was earlier. Due some emergency Ahana and I are leaving now.
Ask the driver to bring the car we are going to the airport. Reschedule my meetings. Take care of Ahana’s schedule too. Call me after 24 hours for any update. Till then don’t disturb. Hope you get it. ”
” Yes sir… Should I help?” She asked when she saw me picking up Ahana.
” No… Do what you are asked to. ” I was being rude but I was strong enough to handle my wife alone.
I picked her up. She wrapped her arms around my neck.
Surprisingly she didn’t resist. She had become weary. I carried her to our car. Everyone in the office was looking at us in awe.
They had never seen us like this before. I was her husband and I have all the right to pick her up, now officially.
The black lamborghini was waiting outside. We both took the rear seat. Ahana was still clung to me. We sped off quickly. Ahana’s cheeks were still wet.
” Ansh…. ” She spoke for the first time after so long.
” Hmmm… ” I hummed rubbing her back softy.
” If anything happens to Ma… I ll not be able to live.
She is my everything. Please don’t let anything happen to her… ” More tears were flowing down.
I pulled her towards me.
” Ahana… Look at me. ” I wiped her tears but I didn’t know mine were flowing too. She drew her hand to wipe mine.
” This is not that Ahana whom I married. She was strong and a fighter.
I promise okay!! Nothing ll happen to Ma… You have to handle yourself.
Ahana you have to be strong for yourself, Ma and me. Remember Grandpa is also going through a lot of things. He needs you. Okay!
Sweetie… ” I kissed her forehead.
She nodded and hugged me tightly. It was the best moment of my life. I felt so full and complete.
At least at this point of time she trusted me and that was more than enough for me.
Even during the flight she didn’t say anything.
She preferred closing her eyes and relaxing. Still wrapped in my hands. When we landed the car was already waiting for us.
We quickly checked in the hotel and went directly to the hospital after changing our clothes. Ahana was dead silent during the entire journey. I rarely see her like this.
When we reached the hospital my Dad and grandad had already arrived. They were with Ahana’s family.
On seeing Ahana her Dad came and quickly grabbed her tightly.
Ahana was crying incessantly again. It really pained to see her like. She looked weak. As her dad left her I quickly held her from her waist to prevent her from falling. She rested her head on my shoulder.
Just then doctor came. Everyone was silent till then.
” What is the update doctor?” I asked.
” We have tended to the injuries but Mrs. Sehgal is still not stable as she lost a lot of blood.
We can’t say anything now. We have to wait till she gain consciousness.” I nodded.
I would feel Ahana’s tears now. I wasn’t able to control my too now.
” Ahana.. Please sit. I ll be back in a moment. I ll speak to the doctor. We ll shift Ma to a better hospital where they have specialists.
Trust me she ll be fine. ” I said and all of sudden she hugged me more tighter.
” Ansh…. ” Ahana’s Dad said.
” It’s fine. I have called the specialists already.
I ll talk to the doctors. You stay here. ” He said indicating to Ahana. She needs me.
The entire night Ahana and I were sitting outside the ICU.
I asked everyone else to go to the hotel and take rest.
Ahana had her eyes closed but I knew she was awake. Even I couldn’t sleep either. The clock showed 6 in the morning but it was still dark outside. What I need desperately was a cup of strong black coffee.
” Hana……..” My eyes suddenly opened wide. That familiar voice which I h@ťěd the most.
At once I could feel that Ahana’s head lifted from my shoulder.
” J….” She shouted and ran towards him hugging him tightly.
I felt an intense pain in my heart. I shouldn’t feel any of it but I couldn’t help it.
I feel like I was fooling around from the past 48 hours. That jerk just came and received all of my attention.
At once she left my side and went to him. Was he that important?
Ahana and Jaai were still hugging each other.
She was crying incessantly. I wonder when she ll stop. I could feel her pain.
” Cough Cough…” I pretended coughing beside them so that they realise I existed.
Jaai… When did you come?” I asked him. Ahana was still close by him.
” Hey!! I came just 2 hours back. The travel from airport to here took time. Uncle called me and I had to take the very next flight.” He said.
I nodded I didn’t know that seeing them together could be so painful. She was my wife still. It was natural, Right?
Just them Mr Sehgal came.
” Jaai… You came already. That was pretty fast I must say. ”
” Hmm… I took the very next flight. Where grandpa? ”
” He is resting. A bit tired. Ansh, Ahana I think you two also should go and rest. You were awake the entire night. Jaai, why don’t you too go with them. ” Dad said.
Now that was the last thing I needed. Jaai coming with us. The entire night I lay awake with Ahana and this guy has to ruin it.
I was boiling now seeing Ahana still with him.
” Yes… J you too must be tired. Come with us.
Dad and grandad will come and join Dad to give him company. Isn’t it Ansh..?” Ahana said. Now she was asking me. Did she really require my permission?
I nodded.
” No Ahana… You must go with Ansh I am absolutely fine. I ll stay here. ” He said releasing her hand from his grip.
” But J….. ” A stubborn girl she is. I could see tears swelling up in her eyes. When Jaai wiped them I felt like ki||ing him. But suddenly she put Ahana’s hand in mine.
” Ansh… You must take her to rest. She needs it and you too.
Bye Hana… See you later. ” I grabbed Ahana’s hand tightly and she didn’t refuse.
While I was leaving Jaai came in and whispered in my ears.
” Ansh… Please don’t leave her alone.
She really needs you. ” I didn’t expect this from him. But it felt good to hear that. I nodded and left.
We reached our hotel in half an hour. It was the nearest 7 star hotel which we could get. I ordered room service.
Ahana didn’t speak for the entire ride. Our room was a huge and spacious suite with two master bedrooms and a living room.
The decor was mild and pleasant.
We both changed and had a light breakfast. I was very sleepy.
I thought an hour or 2 ‘s sleep would do wonders.
Ahana was sitting on the sofa lost in her thoughts. I was really tired and was about to leave when I glanced at her.
Her face was glowing but then I saw her red eyes filled with tears. At once I went and cupped her face. The tears started free flowing.
” Ahana…. Please… Stay strong.” I said.
” I am trying Ansh… But you know it’s so difficult.” She said.
I hugged her tightly. I know that’s what she needed to stay calm. She looked weak and tired. But still I could feel her hugging me back.
” I can’t live alone. ” I heard her whispers.
” I won’t let you live alone. I promise… ” At once I picked her up and she wrapped her arms around me. I took her to the bedroom and tucked her in.
As I was about to leave she grabbed my hand.
” Please… Stay. Don’t leave me alone.”
I don’t know what prompted me and I slipped into the bed beside her.
I covered both of us in the blanket.
As if I just wanted her to say this. She clung to me and slept like a baby.
” Ma will be perfectly fine Ahana… For you…” I said putting my hand on her forehead and drifting to sleep. In each other embrace.
I woke up when I heard a cell ringing. It wasn’t mine. I think it was Ahana’s.
I saw Ahana sleeping peacefully in my arms. I could see traces of tears on her cheeks but before I could caress them the cell rang again.
I didn’t want Ahana to wake up. She needed rest.
