Linda looked up at him, and he could see the pain and disappointment in her eyes.
“You are not trying to take advantage of me,” She said, her voice low and husky.
Cody didn’t know what to do.
He didn’t want to upset Linda further, but he also didn’t want to pretend he felt something he didn’t.
After a moment of silence, Linda spoke again.
“I understand,” She said, her voice still low.
“I just thought… never mind”
Cody nodded in relief that she wasn’t going to push the issue but was shocked when Linda lips landed on his.
Cody quickly pulled and was shocked by her action, but he couldn’t deny that there was something different about this kiss.
It was gentle and soft, and it made him feel something he hadn’t felt before.
He didn’t know what to do or say, so he just stood there.
“Linda, I…” He began, but before he could finish, She spoke again.
“Please, don’t say anything,” she said, her voice full of emotion.
“Just… just let me enjoy this moment”
Cody nodded, though he wasn’t sure of what to do next as Linda began to kiss him.
After a few moments, Linda pulled away from the kiss, and they just stood there, looking at each other.
Cody could see the hope and fear still in her eyes, but he also saw something else.
Something he couldn’t quite place.
Finally, Linda spoke.
“I know we’re not dating,” She said, her voice soft and vulnerable.
“But… but I can’t help how I feel, Rudy”
“I know it’s not what you want, and I know it’s probably not what you’re looking for, But… but I just had to say it”
“This heart is beating for you,Cody,”Linda said, touching her chest.
“I truly love you,Rudy”
Cody was at a loss for words,he didn’t know how to respond to her confession.
He didn’t want to lead her on, but he also didn’t want to hurt her.
“Linda,” He called.
“I… I don’t know what to say” Cody said and Linda smiled sadly.
“You don’t have to say anything,” she said, her eyes shining with tears.
“I just… I just wanted you to know that I love you”
Cody reached out and took her hand in his but stopped.
He couldn’t let her think that he felt the same way, when he didn’t. Or could he?
The truth was, he had been enjoying their time together ever since she saved him.
She was smart,kind and funny.
She made him feel things he had never felt before.
But he wasn’t sure if it was love.
He looked at Linda and said.
“I will think about your confession, and I’ll be honest with you, I need some time to process this”
“I hope you understand,”Cody said and Linda’s eyes lit up with hope.
“Really?” She said,
“You’re not just saying that to make me feel better?” Linda asked and Cody shook his head.
“I would never do that to you,” He said.
“You mean too much to me,I just need some time to figure out what this means for us”
“I understand,” She said.
“I’m glad you’re being honest with me,And I’m willing to wait” Linda said slowly and Cody smiled at her.
“Di.. did you just smile?” Linda opened her mouth in shock.
First time in nine months she had seen him smile.
Though she has been trying to force him to smile since he woke up from coma, Cody never smiles until now.
“Did you just smile?” Linda repeated her question, unable to believe what she was seeing and Cody chuckled.
“I’m going out for a bit” Cody said and Linda looked at him curiously.
“Where are you going?” She asked.
“Just out for a walk”
“I’ll be back soon” Cody said and with that, he headed out the door, leaving Linda to her thoughts.
She sat there, pondering over Cody’s smile.
“He smiled at me,”She thought to herself.
“What does that mean?”
“Does it mean he love me too”
Linda couldn’t help but feel hopeful.
Maybe Cody was starting to feel something for her, something more than just friendship.
Or maybe she was just reading too much into it. She couldn’t be sure.
“I need to stop overthinking this,” She said aloud but still couldn’t stop thinking about Cody and his smile.
It was like a puzzle she couldn’t solve, and it was driving her crazy.
“I need to clear my head with some shoppings”
She put on her shoes and went out the door, heading down to the parking lot.
As Linda reached her car, she noticed Cody’s car was still in the compound.
“I guess he decided not to go out with his car”She muttered entering her car and she slowly drove off.
ANGELA’S PLACE
Ellie slowly entered Angela’s house and saw the place all in a mess.
The table was covered in dirty dishes, and the floor was littered with clothes and dirt.
Ellie couldn’t believe her eyes.
“It’s already getting worse” She muttered because of how much the dirt is.
“Angela?” Ellie called out.
“Are you here?”
There was no answer,Ellie took a deep breath and began to search the house, checking every room.
Finally, she came to the bedroom,the door was closed.
Ellie took a deep breath and knocked on the door.
“Angela? Are you in there?” she called out.
There was no answer,Ellie opened the door slowly, her heart pounding in her chest.
The room was dark, the curtains drawn.
In the middle of the room, Angela sat on the bed,with her phone in her hand, her knees drawn up to her chest.
Her eyes were red and swollen, and she looked as though she had been crying for hours.
“Angela?” Ellie said softly walking toward her.
Angela lifted her head and looked at Ellie.
“What’s wrong this time?” Ellie asked and suddenly saw the phone in her hands and said.
“Hey Angela you need to stop to looking at those pictures”
She snatched Angela’s phone from her as Angela began to cry again.
“What really wrong with you”
“I… I…. I can’t stop thinking about him,” Angela said.
“I know,but there’s nothing we can do about it,” Ellie said, trying to sound reassuring.
“Rudy is gone,he is dead”
“But what if he is still alive?” Angela asked.
“What if everything was just a dream or our imagination?”
“Come on, Angela, that’s just crazy talk,this is reality” Ellie said.
“You need to believe that he is gone,” Ellie said.
“But what …”
“Shh,” Ellie said, cutting Angela off.
“Don’t say it”
“I’m already getting tired of hearing it”
“Rudy is dead he is gone”
“You need to forget about him”
“I brought someone who is going to help”
“Huh?”
Angela looked at the door as it slowly opened her eyes wide in fear.
A woman stepped into the room
“Mom” Angela called in shock.
“Mom!” Angela said, rushing to hug her mother.
Her mother wrapped her arms around her and held her tight.
“I’m so sorry,” she whispered.
“I should have been here for you”
“I’ve missed you so much,” Angela said, tears streaming down her face.
“I’m here now,” Her mother said, patting her back as she slowly broke the hug.
“Ellie have tell me everything”
Angela raised her brows and glared at Ellie who ignored her.
“So who is this guy that is making my princess cry so much?” Angela’s mother asked.
“I know him,” Ellie said, a mischievous smile on her face and Angela glared at her again.
“There is a picture of him and Angela on this phone,” Ellie said, raising Angela’s phone up high.
“Can you show me?” Angela’s mother smiled.
“Yes”
Ellie scrolled through Angela’s phone showing Angela’s mother some of Angela and Rudy’s photo.
It was from three years ago.
“Oh my ….”
“Isn’t that Rudy Georgina’s Son”
“Huh?” Angela and Ellie raised their brows.
