Chapter Three
Claire first instinct was to push him and run away but doing that might make her the centre of attraction and so she stood still in his arms, wondering what was running through his mind.
He certainly wouldn’t remember her? She had been dressed differently when they first met.
She was dressed as a guy but now she is dressed as a lady and so….. he wouldn’t…….he mustn’t remember her, she thought trying to convince her self.
Andrew couldn’t believe it, it was the same person, the same girl who had accompanied Alicia Drake to the date as her lesbian lover.
He could remember her because she had the most beautiful blue eyes, it was the same eyes that was starring at him now, he thought as he took in her appearance.
She certainly looked different from that day, she had been dressed in a guy outfit had her hair tucked in a cap but now her hair was all down and the chiffon gown she was wearing complimented her curves, the same curves she had hidden in that hideous men wear the other day.
“Will you please…..”She said indicating his arm which was still draped around her body.
He let her go and she moved away from him as far as she could.
“Am sorry for bumping into you”She said quickly and turned to leave
“Excuse me!”He said and that stopped her, she stood still not bothering to look at him
“We have met before right?”Andrew asked waiting for her to turn and acknowledge him.
“Of course not, If I have met you before, I would surely remember”She said and some how that got Andrew angry.
Why is she lying? what would she gain with her lies? he thought as he began moving towards her but she was too fast.
She quickly ran off, heading towards the Chef he had met earlier.
She said some few things to him and walked into the kitchen not even sparing him a glance.
Did she just ignore him, he thought as he stood there starring at the kitchen.
He didn’t even notice that he was standing there gawking at the kitchen entrance when Mark came to him.
“The investors are waiting Drew, we have all been waiting for you ” Mark said calling him by his nickname
“I just ran into some one, never mind, let’s go and sign the contract”He said as he walked off with Mark.
Claire walked into the house, discarding her stuff around the room before slumping on the sofa.
Why do she keep on meeting him! She thought as she sigh heavily.
If things keep on going this way, her future might just come true.
Its a good thing he didn’t even recognise her, she thought solemnly.
What is he even doing at Ben restaurant? she felt restless and so she stood and began pacing around the room.
“Oh you are back! I thought you would be at Ben’s helping as usual”Celine, Claire grandmother said as she walked into the room
“Grand ma”Claire called and ran over to her to pull her towards the sofa
“What’s wrong? You looked burdened ” Celine said noticing the worried lines etched on Claire face.
“I saw him grand ma, I saw him” Claire said wanting to unburden her self to some one
“Who?”Celine asked quite lost
“The guy in my dreams”Claire replied
“You saw him! In real flesh?”She asked
“Yes grandma, not once but twice” Claire replied
“I was shocked when I first met him grand ma, I thought that seeing him once doesn’t mean a thing and that if I don’t get to meet him a second time every thing will be fine but then I met him again today “Claire said in anguish
“You said it was only a silly dream and we all agreed because he is a stranger ,some one you have never met before but don’t you think that meeting him certainly means some thing “She said
“It can’t mean a thing grand ma, I love Ben and I can only see my self getting married to Ben, I don’t want that future for myself, I don’t know that guy grand ma, I don’t want my dream to come to reality”Claire said almost desperately
“Why not do this. You said you have met this guy twice right?”Her grandma asked and Claire nodded
“Let’s leave this up to fate, if you meet him again for the third time then it means that there is some thing linking you two together ”
“Grandma I…..”
“But if you don’t meet him again for the third time then certainly the dream is just a silly one just as we thought “Celine said cutting Claire off
“What if I do meet him for the third time, you know most of my dreams all come true. I don’t want it for myself, I don’t want to be with some one I don’t love”Claire said still in doubt with her grand ma solution
“Just believe okay! Leave it up to faith. If you meet him again then surely there is some thing linking you two together but if not then your faith lies with some one else”Celine said
“Fine then, I will put all my hope in this third encounter, if it turn out to be true, I will leave this country and ……”
“Don’t get ahead of yourself Claire, let’s just wait for this third encounter,okay”Her grandma said and Claire nodded gently, hoping with hope that this third encounter won’t ever happen.
As long as she doesn’t meet him for the third time, every thing will be fine.
A WEEK LATER
“And this is the new concept department, it’s some thing we kind of design for the employees who deal with the new ideas for any new project we get”Luke Walter, The manager for Grand Advertising company said as he showed Andrew and Mark around the new company they just acquired.
Andrew looked into the room, liking the decoration and also the ambience of the room.
Three people stood aside watching him warily, it wasn’t until the introduction were made that he realise that they were his employees who were working In the department.
“Aren’t you guys four, I think some one is missing”Luke said staring at the three employee
“Well Claire has been caught up in traffic,she said she is not sure if she is going to make it for the introduction”One of them said quickly.
Claire, That name has been on his mind ever since that incident In the restaurant.
He hasn’t been able to get that girl out of his thoughts, maybe its because of her odd behaviour or maybe it’s because she intrigues him.
From dressing to a guy and claiming to be a lesbian to dressing like a real female who surely will make any guy blood hot, well apart from him.
Claire had been her name and having some one bearing Claire in the new company he just acquire makes him feel strange, which is odd.
He has never wasted his thought on some one who is irrelevant to him and he wouldn’t be wasting his thought on that lady.
What he should do right now is to think of the new date he will be meeting today, if she turns out right, she will be perfect for just what he wanted.
“Claire isn’t some one who shows up late to…..”
“It doesn’t matter, as long as she gets to the company and work to earn her money, I don’t mind her being late, Let’s get to the next department, I need to be some where soon” Andrew said walking off not wanting any Claire of this world to disrupt his thoughts again.
A while later, they stood along the corridor, saying their goodbye when some one running into the company caught his attention.
She was dressed in a black gown which accentuated her curves and because her hair was not tied, it kept on flying about as she ran into the company.
His gaze drifted to her face and Andrew paused starring intently, he didn’t even notice that Luke along with Mark were now starring at him wondering what had caught his attention.
She stopped to talk to some one she met on the way and Andrew found him self starring.
Just a week ago he had seen her at the restaurant he went to for the sale of the AD company and now here she was again and she was more beautiful than the last time he saw her, he thought as he swallowed an imaginary spit.
“Seems like Claire made it”Luke said as he stood beside him starring at Claire too
“Claire what exactly ?”Andrew asked wanting to get her full name.
He still can’t believe that she is the same girl who he had met on that horrid blind date, for all he knew they might both be different and they might both be sharing the same name
“Claire Maxwell”Luke replied leaving no doubt to Andrew that the Claire standing in front of him is the same one he met on that blind date.
“I better get her here to make the introduc… ”
“Don’t!”Andrew said quickly interrupting Luke
“But….”
“When it’s time for me to meet her, I will ask to see her myself, you don’t have to worry and am late for my appointment, I will take my leave”Andrew said stopping what ever thing luke was going to say to him.
By now Claire was already heading towards the lift, unaware of Andrew watching her go.
“Mark,Have got an assignment for you”Andrew said as they both waited for the security man to bring them the car from the company parking lot.
“What ?”Mark asked
“Find me every thing that has to do with Claire Maxwell, I want to know every thing about her”Andrew said
“But why?”Mark asked
“I want to know her true identity, if she is a liar or if what she told me a week ago is true”Andrew said fuming with anger.
THE NEXT DAY
Andrew was in his suite, studying the folder of Claire which Mark must have left in the room when he was out working.
There was nothing much about what he found out, Turns out she is a Twin to Nick Maxwell, Twenty five years of age, studied at Clifton high and furthered at Clifton college, she then got a job at Grand AD and have been working there for two years now.
Turns out that her hobby and relationship info isn’t some thing Mark could find out.
He was about calling Mark when the devil himself walked into the suite.
“Did well right? It wasn’t easy to get but since you said it was some thing you needed as soon as possible I decided to handle it myself and besides you still haven’t told me who this Claire is?”Mark said
“This isn’t what I need Mark, If I wanted this sort of information, I would have gotten her Employee profile. There is hardly a thing about her private life in here !”Andrew said
“Oh that! I decided not to put those in the folder cause have got it all here”Mark said putting a hand on his head.
“Then start spilling it”Andrew said impatiently
“Well this is what I found out from the other employees at the company, turns out that Claire have been single for the two years that she have been working there and no guy have ever been able to get her to date them or go out with them”Mark said softly
“Is she into girls?”Andrew asked
“That was what they all thought at first but it turns out that…..”Mark stopped as if thinking of some thing
“Turns out that what?” Andrew asked hating the suspense
“Come to think of it, you havent told me why you are into this Claire Maxwell, what Is it about her that makes you lose your cool?”Mark asked
“Finish what you are saying and I will give you an explanation”Andrew said
“Sorry Drew,You will have to tell me first before I do the talking “Mark said enjoying putting Andrew in suspense.
“Remember the date you had set for me a week ago?”Andrew asked giving into Mark
“The two lesbians!”Mark replied
“Yes. Well it turns out that Claire Maxwell was the one who showed up with Alicia as her Lover”
“She had been dressed as a guy, I could hardly see her hair because she had on a cap but the next time I saw her, she was all dressed in a feminine way. She was shocked to see me and pretended not to know me and seeing her yesterday too finally made up my mind, I wanted to know if she had just played that act with Alicia or if it’s really true”Andrew finished only to see Mark laughing
“Did I say some thing funny?”Andrew asked
“Well it seems like you were a made a fool by those girls, Not only is Claire Maxwell a girl who prefer guys, she also has a crush on Ben Grand”Mark replied
“I knew it….Ben Grand? That name rings a bell”Andrew said forgetting his anger for a while
“The restaurant where the signing took place, the Chef there turns out to be the guy Claire Maxwell has a crush on “Mark answered still finding the whole thing funny.
“That was why she was at the restaurant”Andrew said
“Turns out that she helps Ben in his restaurant every day after work, gossip has it that she is trying to get close to him by doing so”Mark added
“What a fool! Doesn’t she know that she is making it obvious to every one that she lust after him”Andrew said feeling much more angrier and it wasn’t because he found out that she had lied about her preference but because of her infatuation with the chef.
“I wouldn’t call it lust, Apparently the girl is inlove and is just trying to get the man she loves even though he is tied to another woman and also these things I just told you should be kept confidential. Though every one knows what situation she is in, they never talk about it when she is around, in short it is kept amongst them” Mark said as he took an apple which had been kept in the basket to munch on it.
“Well what do you intend to do? You aren’t going to fire her because she teamed up with her friend to make a fool out of you?”Mark asked
“Of course not! I wouldn’t stoop so low”Andrew said
“Saying that gets me more worried”Mark added as he stared at Andrew whose brain was already coming up with a lot of devious thought.
“I suggest you drop all this and just focus o more on finding yourself a girl and ……”
“This can’t be dropped Mark, I was made a fool of and I intend to get back at her. No one makes a fool out of me Mark. No one!”Andrew said as he took mark apple to munch on it himself.
