Sam was now almost to Lannon and the way he stared at her, made it so obvious he knew she was coming to him. She feared for herself but if Lila couldn’t stand for herself, who would? She needed to give this hot looking bastard a piece of her mind.
When she finally reached him, she looked at him, “let’s talk outside”she said. She felt that chilly aura, that dangerous look but yet she gathered enough courage and immediately dragged him out. She prayed he wouldn’t bring out a knife and slit her throat as she dragged him instead he willingly followed her. How nice! She stopped few meters away from Lila’s mum’s room and then she let go off his hand.
“What exactly do you want from my best friend? Spill it out”she was strangely tough in her speech but weak in her mind.”why doesn’t she want my help to get her out”. What did you do to her? ”
She watched the young man have a smirk at the corner of his lips all through as she spoke. In her mind, she knew someone like him might never reply her no matter how much she spoke but she was shocked when she heard his voice.
“She probably knows I will ki|| you”he replied nonchalantly.
Her knees went weak and her feet, cold. The reply got her thinking for minutes. Was he really dangerous? Will he really ki|| her? After lots of thinking she finally said,”Don’t you dare thr_@ten me”she thanked her stars she hadn’t stuttered”let my best friend go”she clicked her tongue.
She was expecting a reply from Lannon but she got nothing. Little did she know that he was not going to utter any other word again.
She smirked”you trying to play the dumb game? Alright. That’s fine. I should never hear Lila is hurt. I promise that would be the last of you.”she jabbed his chest.
Lannon stared at her hand on his chest and then he looked at her as she fumed from anger, then she turned and left immediately. He walked back to Lila mother’s room and stood outside. For a moment he wanted to get in there and tell her, her time was up but he gave it a second thought as he watched Lila smile at her mom who was now awake, how she caressed her arm and the way she felt free talking. A warm feeling surged through him as he remembered his father and mother. How they took a picture one morning before he’d left to school. That very day they died. He saw them in a pool of blood, lying lifeless in their sitting room, with a gun on his mother’s chest. The sight was just too awful, he h@ťěd to remember it. He began to feel headache so he held his head tight to stop the pain as he guided himself safely to a chair and sat.
Sam who was just coming out of Stella’s office saw him battling with his head. She really wanted to ignore him but her good heart wouldn’t just let her. She was about speaking but he suddenly looked like he had calmed down. She looked at him, he raised his head and looked at her, he seemed fine. She just shrugged and continued her walk to meet Lila.
“Your kidnapper doesn’t look alright” She said to Lila once she entered the room.
“Kidnapper?”Lila’s mom was the first to react.
“Sam?”Lila twiched her eyes. Giving Sam the ‘explain yourself look’.
“Mrs Steele. That was nothing. Just the usual kidding of besties”Sam nervously laughed”and I didn’t know you’d be awake”
Lila’s mom looked at the two friends as they stared at each other anxiously. “Well that’s fine. I’m really glad I can see you again Lila. Three years ago just looks like yesterday to me.”she smiled.
Lila hugged her for the hundredth time”I’m more than glad too”
Sam looked at the both of them and decided she had to let them talk all they want so she quietly left.
Lila’s mom took in deep breath before asking”What about Dave? Your father? He should be dead I suppose”
Lila cringed”how did you know?”
Her mum heaved a sigh of relief”I’m glad”she leaned on the bed, all in smiles nothing minding the look her daughter now sent to her.
Lila was speechless, somewhat shocked. She never knew her mum h@ťěd her dad that much. Now her dad was dead, she began to find out lots of things. And to think that she still missed him even after knowing all these.

Lannon wasn’t in a good mood when Lila met him at the hallway. He was seated all quiet and seemed to be thinking deeply. She sat beside him.
“Hey. Are you alright?”
He jerked out of his daze and replied lazilly noticing her presence “you’re done”
Lila nodded. She wanted to talk to him about her mum. She would be discharged soon and she really had to stay with her. Thinking about the situation at hand disturbed her so much.
“Lets go”Lannon stood up.
She decided this was not the right time to talk. So she let him be. She stood and followed behind but they were suddenly stopped by Doctor Callus. Lila was quick to hide her face in shame remembering the incid2nt that had happened before.
“Good to see you again Lannon”he smiled
Lannon was in no mood to smile nor talk, he kept a straight face.
“Hi Lila. You look happy. “He waved her as she hid.”can we talk in my office if you have some spare time?”he looked at Lannon.
” I’ve got no spare time”Lannon’s harsh reply came.
“Oh oh. Still arrogant as usual”Callus laughed”cmon. It would just be quick convo”he nudged
Lila just stood and watched the two men. She felt that anytime from now, Lannon might blow up due to what was eating him up, since she wasn’t so sure. And Callus seemed to be a little pestering.
He turned to her”Have you had a nice time with your mum or he won’t let you”he cracked a joke.
Lila finally had to intervene”Cmon doctor Callus. We don’t have all day. Why don’t you catch up with your old time buddy some other day”she said and without waiting for Callus to reply she dragged Lannon out, who seemed to willingly follow her.
They were stopped again but this time by Sam. Lila had a feeling Lannon could do something drastic at that moment. But she couldn’t just divert her best friend like that. She let go of Lannon’s hand immediately and the next minute she was dragging Sam. Sam stopped her immediately.
“What’s gotten into you Lila? What did that guy do to you?”she growled.
“Sam please could we talk over the phone? Right now, I have to go”lila replied rather hurriedly
“Jezz.!”Sam raked her hand through her flowing hair”How do you feel?”
“Huh!”
“How do you feel about this guy?”
Lila sighed and then,”Sam, he told me a lot of things and I just feel i should believe him. Plus i feel a lot safe around him.”
“Hey Lila, look around you”Sam was now calm”who could possibly be after you. Who would want to harm you?”
“You won’t understand ”
“So you want to saty with him. You may never have the cahnce to leave again. What about your mum?”
Lila was silent for a while and then she nodded”i will talk to him about my mum and i belive someday he will let me go. For now I’m not safe”she held Sam’s hand”look. I really appreciate you looking out for me. If anything ever goes awkward I’ll be quick to inform you. I have to go now”she turned hurriedly and left, leaving Sam to stare at her retreating figure.
