Chapter 32
Violet POV
I woke up the next day when I heard my name being called countless times by Mum. I groaned uncomfortably on my bed before finally opening my eyes.
“What the hell Mum, it’s 6:30am in the morning. Why are you waking me this early” I complained coming down from my bed.
“Oh young lady shut the hell up. I’m not here to play jokes with you” She said and I furrowed my brows.
“Tell me Mum. Why did you wake me up?” I asked and she chuckled sarcastically.
“Are you asking me that. What did you tell Steve yesterday huh. I suspected you didn’t like him but did you have to go that far just to chase him away” She said and I scoffed.
“You’re not telling me exactly what I did Mum. I just told Steve the truth nothing else” I said acting nonchalant.
“You’re going nuts Violet. You told Steve that I was still married. How could you say that to him. You know how much I love him”
“But I don’t” I yelled cutting her off. She gulped before keeping quiet and then she rubbed her temple.
“But I begged you Violet. I told you I needed a companion. Why can’t you see that” I said calmly.
“You have me Mum. I’m by your side. I know how much you’ve laboured for me and that’s why I’ll always be by your side Mum” I said and hugged her.
I thought she had already calmed and succumbed to what I had said but I didn’t expect her to push me away harshly.
“You’re selfish Violet. You think it’s only you who deserves happiness and I don’t” She said and then stormed off from my room.
I sighed before groaning. I thought of going down to comfort her but I changed my mind and checked the time.
If I start preparing now I might end up going extra early to school and then it clicked my mind- Today was test.
I quickly grabbed some books from my shelf so I would do a little revision before preparing to school. Maybe my good grades would change her mind.
After reading for an hour I went to bath and prepare for school. Once I was done I went downstairs but I couldn’t find Mum.
I guess she’s still angry and then my stomach rumbled. Such a great way to pay me back.
I prepared some cereal for myself. I left the house once I was done and then sighed thinking about how I would trek to the bustop before getting a bus.
The heard a horn beside me and l looked at the road and it was Clover. A smile spread on my lips and he pulled over for me to enter.
I giggled and entered into his car seating on the passengers’seat and then he chuckled before driving off.
“Good morning beauty” he said and I laughed.
“Are you trying to make me blush” I eyed him.
“Nope because you’re already blushing” I said and she hummed.
“How did you know I was going to school now” I asked.
“The only thing you should be thinking about is how you’re gonna face all the girls at school when they see us both” He said and the thought of it made me feeling excited.
I can’t believe I would be proud now to call Clover my boyfriend. He was going to show me to everyone in school. It made me feel so special.
We approached the school gate and when we finally drove in, I could hear the screams of students. They do this everytime Clover comes to school.
The next thing that happens is that they’ll start hovering around him trying to get him to look at them, get their attention. But I was once of those who’ll always admire from afar but today I am looking at Clover up close and I get to kiss him whenever I like.
Then Clover came down from the car first and the screams doubled. They all surrounded the car and I got jealous immediately.
I guess this is how Clover feels when he sees me around Malcolm and Ryan.
Clover walked to the other side of the car and he opened the door for me me to come down. It was now the nervousness came rushing.
I gripped on my bag tightly before coming down from his car. The screams went down and everyone began looking at me.
Then they started whispering and murmuring some of which I heard.
IS SHE CLOVER’S NEW CHICK.
I THOUGHT SHE WAS BETTER THAN THAT. HOW COULD SHE FOLLOW CLOVER.
HAH. I WANNA BE IN HER POSITION RIGHT NOW.
I THOUGHT SHE WAS CLASSY BUT SHE’S JUST LIKE US BEING CHEAP AND RUBBING OVER CLOVER.
Then I heard someone screaming from afar and students began making way for the person to come through before Belinda emerged with her friends.
“You f-__-king Ɓîtçh. How dare you steal my boyfriend from she” Belinda yelled.
“I did not steal your boyfriend from you Belinda. He’s not yours okay” I said and I didn’t know where the courage came you.
“How dare you talk back at me?” She said and raised her hand to hit me. I lowered and closed my eyes waiting for her to touch me.
I opened my eyes back and I saw that Clover already held her hand preventing her from hitting me.
“You’re siding her Clover. How could you?” Belinda grumbled.
“You can’t touch her Belinda she’s with me” Clover supported me and I smiled secretly before we held my wrist and led me away from the crowd of students.
When we got to the hallway, Penelope came to us and then she took we away from Clover and we both went to my locker.
“What just happened Violet. I almost doubted it was you out there. Do you think it’s nice everyone finding out about you both” Penelope asked.
“I don’t know Pen but I never planned for this. It just kinda happened” I replied.
“This is bad Violet then how did you want to explain this to Ryan” Penelope said and at that moment Ryan showed up so angry.
“Tell me what I just heard isn’t true”
