Chapter forty-Nine
Jasmine was already dressed up and waiting for their arrival, she was informed by Jeff when she declined, her parents persuaded her and she agreed to go with them. Jeff drove into her compound and Jasmine ran out to see everyone seated in the backseat smiling at her except Daisy who was sitting at the front pretending to be busy with her phone.
“Hey, Jasmine”. Blake said.
“Are you coming in or not?”. 3rd cousin asked as she stretched out his neck from the door.
“Sure”.She smiled broadly and rushed to sit next to Blake.
“Let’s go,”.2nd cousin said and Jeff zoomed off as Jasmine’s parents waved at them.
The driveway to the mall took an hour, they came down, and they went inside except for Desmond who held Jasmine’s hand pull her back.
“What are you doing?”.She asked confusedly.
“I heard what happened to you at the party”.He took the injured palm that was bandaged with a cloth.”Am sorry”.
“Oh come on, it’s fine, besides she apologies even though it didn’t come from her heart”. She smiles.” Mom told me you called, I am sorry I forgot to call you back”.
“Is ok”.They smiled at each other and Blake interrupted them.
“Hey! Are you two coming in or not?”.He asked and walked away.
“Let’s go”.He said and they went inside.
They began their shopping, and suddenly a group of girls screamed out in excitement immediately they caught sight of Desmond, he was caught off guard as they surrounded him taking photos of him, he struggled to get out of their midst calling out for help from his cousins, but they ignore him and started laughing.
“Aren’t you guys going to help him? They will reap off his clothes”.3rd cousin said.
“Nah, he is a celebrity, this is fun”.Jeff said.
“You all are unbelievable”.Daisy said and moved to rescue him from the girls, but Desmond managed to escape from them and they chased after him.
“Mom and Dad will laugh so hard about this”.Blake said making videos of him running around the girls chasing after him.
Jasmine stood enjoying the show, Desmond was running towards them, but suddenly he missed his step and reeled towards Jasmine, everyone was caught off guard as he fell on Jasmine, everyone gasped and made videos of them. Daisy stood frowning at them. Their eyes clue together and their heart started beating fast, suddenly the memory of what he said to Jasmine flashed through his head and he stood up quickly including Jasmine and they were avoiding everyone’s gaze.
“Alright ladies, we can continue the fun some other time”.Jeff said and the girls became disappointed as they walked away.” Are you ok Man?”.He asked placing his arm on his shoulder and Desmond pushed him off.
“You guys stood watching those girls suffocating me”.He frowned.
“We couldn’t do anything, it was fun though, “.2nd cousin said and they agreed and he scoffed and walked away.

Later at home, Blake showed the video to everyone during dinner they laughed and Desmond scoffed.
“Wow, this is hilarious, I can’t believe you didn’t help him”.Mrs Ava said.
“It was fun watching him being chased by those girls”.Jeff said and Desmond frowned at him.
“I guess you will have to get used to it, you are a celebrity now”.Mr.James said and they continued eating.
“So, I heard you and Daisy will be leaving for the state to continue your studies”. Grandma said.
“Yes, granny”.Daisy said happily.
“That’s good, when are you two rounding up from school?”.She asked.
“In the next seven months”.She said.
“Wow, that’s good”.2nd cousin said.

Jasmine was in her room staring out from the window lost in deep thoughts, her mind was filled with what happened between her and Desmond at the party and even at the mall, and she wondered why she was feeling different whenever Desmond was close to her.
“What is going on?”.She asked herself and then her cell phone beeped with an incoming message from Desmond.

She read it and sighed
💬ARE YOU THERE?💬
💬YES,💬” she replied.
Meanwhile, Desmond was seated on the balcony hesitating to write back, he doesn’t understand why he suddenly wants to write her. He kept having the same feeling Jasmine was feeling.
💬HOW IS YOUR HAND? DOES IT STILL HURT?💬” he tested and Jasmine replied.
💬NO, IS GETTING BETTER, THANKS FOR ASKING💬
💬NOT A PROBLEM, GOOD NIGHT, JASMINE💬

He sighed and rubbed the back of his head, and then Jeff entered.
“Why are you still up?”.Jeff asked and Desmond flinched.
“Will you stop sneaking on me? Why are you in my room?”.He asked unlikely.
“Just wanted to see how you are feeling”.He smiles.
“Did I tell you I was sick?”.
“Yeah, you are sick from hiding what you feel inside”.He smirks and Desmond raises his face to him. “Don’t look at me like that, you know exactly what I am talking about and you know who I am referring to, so, I will urge you to act fast”.He smiled and stood up to leave.”Have a good night’s rest and think about what I have told you”.He left and Desmond sighed.

The next day, Jasmine was seated alone in the roof lost in thought, Martha came over to see her mood.
“Is everything ok?”.She asked sitting next to her and Jasmine sighed.
“Yeah, am fine”.She said.
“You don’t look like one”.She felt her forehead.”Your temperature is normal, is something bothering you?”.
“Um–“.She pauses her word immediately after she catches sight of Desmond walking in, her heart skipping a bit as their eyes interlock, she turns her face away trying to control her heartbeat, Martha and Desmond stare confusedly at her.
“Are you ok?”. Desmond asked.
“Yes”.She stood up quickly.”Um, excuse me”.She hurried out and Martha was surprised.
“Is she ok?”. Desmond asked Martha and she shrugged her shoulders.
Meanwhile, Jasmine rushed to the restroom trying to catch her breath.
“What are you doing Jasmine?”.She said to herself.”What’s these feelings?”.She wondered and brought out her phone and started searching for the words on Google.”None of this makes sense, this isn’t attraction, not with him”.She sighed tiredly and continued searching on Google.
Some moment later, Desmond was practicing alone in the hall, his mind was occupied and he was confused about what he was feeling. He threw the ball to the net and missed it.
“This is the reason why it’s boring watching you play”. Jasmine interrupted him by the door entrance and he was surprised to see her.”How can you miss that shot?”. She teased and Desmond scoffed.
“I–“.He paused to see she was no longer there and it was his imagination. he picked up the ball and threw it to the net and it went straight to the net, he was interrupted by someone clapping and cheering him up, so he turned to the direction to see Jasmine clapping and cheering him up from the audience sit, he smiles.
“Why are you smiling to yourself?”.Jake interrupted him and he turned to him.
“I wasn’t”.
“I saw you smiling, what’s amusing you?”.He asked.
“Nothing”.He said and continued playing the ball, Jake sighed at him and rolled his head.
