Chapter Forty
Some hours later, Jasmine and Martha were seated on the school roof chatting.
“Did she tell you what’s bothering her?”.Martha asked and Jasmine nodded looking sad.
“Her family is having a serious crisis in their business, they are planning on selling their mall and relocating to another city to start a new life”. Jasmine said.
“Oh, poor child, that’s too bad”.Martha sighed.”But I heard it when she was apologizing to you, did something happen between you two?”.
“She is the person I was telling you about”.
“Oh my, she is the one?”.She asked surprisedly.
“I kinda feel pity for her, is not easy for one’s life to just turn around to worse, I know how it felt because I was once in that position”.She said.
“That’s too bad, does that mean she is leaving this school?”.
“I guess so, her parents are broke now and they can’t afford to continue paying her fees”.She sighed and then had a flashback.
★An hour earlier
“I don’t want to leave this place, my life is here and I don’t want to move out and start all over again”. Olivia said sadly
Both were seated on the step.
“What do you want me to do? You know I can’t help you”. Jasmine said.
“I know, I just want your forgiveness, I don’t want to live with the guilt of how I hurt you badly, please forgive me”.She said sincerely and Jasmine sighed.
“Why didn’t you tell your friends about all this, maybe they can help”.She said and Olivia rolled her head.
“No, I can’t, they will mock me, I don’t want to be a laughing stock”.
“Why? They are your friends”.
“No, you don’t understand, being friends with them has taught me something, is not easy to be friends with Daisy and the girls, you will have to act and behave like them, I don’t want that, I want to be me, I miss my old self”.She sniffs. “I am the reason why my family business is having a crisis, I was too demanding simply because I want to fit in, it’s all my fault”.She sobs.
“You don’t have to blame yourself, mistake do happen”. Jasmine said.
“Please I am sorry, forgive me for the pain I caused you”.She said holding her hands and Jasmine smiled faintly at her.

“I just hope she overcomes all of these”.She said.
“I hope so too”. Martha said and they sighed.
During class hour, Olivia entered the class and moved to her seat.
“Where have you been?”.Daisy asked.
“Somewhere cooling off”.She replied.
“Have you been crying?”.1st girl asked and she ignored them.
“Is everything ok with you?”.Daisy asked and Olivia ignored her.”Am talking to you”.
“Will you please leave me alone and let me be!”.She snapped and everyone turned in their direction.
“What’s wrong with you? Why are you so harsh?”.Daisy asked confusedly.
“What ”leave me alone” you don’t understand, stop bothering me”.She yelled and they stared confusedly at her.
“Fine! suit yourself”.Daisy said angrily and turned her face away.
Jasmine entered the class to see the mood of Daisy, she turned to walk when Olivia rushed to her and held her hand, everyone was surprised.
“Jasmine, am sorry once again”.She said.
“Why are you saying sorry again? have heard you for the first time”. Jasmine said, then Desmond and Jake entered.
“I know, I want to apologize to you in front of everyone here, I know I have wronged you and I don’t deserve your forgiveness”.
“What’s she doing?”.1st girl asked.
“I have no grudges or hatred towards you, I forgave you a long time ago”. Jasmine said and Desmond smiled at her.
“Thank you, I feel a heavy weight was lifted off my shoulders, thank you so much, you are such a nice person and I regret the decision I made by ignoring you, even though we didn’t become friends, I am happy now that you forgive me”. Olivia said smiling.
“You are welcome”.She said and left for her seat.
Olivia sat down smiling, her smile seized when she saw the hard look Daisy and the girls were giving her.
After school hour, Desmond was about to enter the car when he saw Jasmine in a haste to somewhere, he wondered where she was rushing to.
“Aren’t you going?”.Daisy asked shifting his attention.
“Um, yeah”.He entered the car and the driver drove off.
Meanwhile, Jasmine had a phone conversation with Mrs.Ava and Mrs Ava directed her to her office.
“What is important that you have to see me, Jasmine? Is everything ok my child?”.She asked curiously as they were seated on the sofa and she held her tenderly.
“Everything is fine Mom, I just that, I need your help on something”.
“What could that be?”.
“Actually”.She sighed.
“Come on dear, talk to me”.
“Do you remember Olivia?”.She asked and Mrs.Ava nodded.
“Yes, I remember her, your best friend, what about her?”.
“Is it true her family is planning on selling their mall to relocate to another city?”.
“Yes, her father came to me some days ago to tell me about it”.
“Can’t something be done? Olivia insisted on not leaving”.
“I try to help, is beyond my power, sometimes business is like that”.
“But not at the point of being broke”.
“I understand, but there is nothing we can do, that is why one need to be very careful who he trade business with, Olivia’s father made that mistake by doing business with a scammer, so, that’s it”.
“I kinda feel sorry for Olivia, I totally understand how it feels”. She said and they sighed.
“Yeah, I guess he has learnt his lesson”.
“Yeah”. Jasmine sighed and stood up. “I think I have to go now”.
“Aw, so soon”.Mrs.Ava said sadly.
“Yes Mom, I need to hurry home to help my Mom, you know I can’t allow her to things due to her condition”.
“Yeah, you are right”.She stood up.”I will drop you off then”.
“Ok”.She smiled.

Mrs.Ava return home looking exhausted and saw her family seated in the living room.
“Mom, you are back”.Daisy said smiling.
“Yeah”.She sat down yawning.
“You look exhausted, let me get you water”.Blake left to get water.
“How was work today? you are home late”.Mr.George said.
“Work was fine”.She sip from the water and thank Blake. “I had to drop Jasmine by her house, that’s why I am late”.She said.
“Jasmine?”. Desmond questioned.
“Yeah, she stop by my office earlier on”.
“Why? And what for?”.Daisy asked unlikely.
“Nothing serious, we just talk”.She stood up to leave.”I will go and freshen up”.She left.
“Hope everything is fine with Jasmine”.Blake said.
“I guess she came to beg Mom for money”. Daisy said and they stare at her.
“Why will you say that?”.Mr.George asked.
“Isn’t that the only reason she went to see Mom at the office”.
“Don’t say what you don’t know, Daisy”.Blake said rudely.
“Just saying though”.She continues with her phone and Desmond sighed.
