Chapter Thirty-three
After a while, the judge boomed on the microphone.
“Alright, we have 20 questions here and you are to pick any number of your choice, now, Team A, pick one number”.
“Number Five”.Daisy said smiling.
“Ok, ready for the question?”.He said and glanced through the question”. If I ask you the question and you get the answer right, you will have to explain your answer, is that understood?”.He asked and she nodded.”Ok, Which is a disease?A.Antitoxin B.Influenza C. Bacteria D.Fracture E. Virus.”.He said and Daisy hesitated to answer, the crowd was worried and Desmond noticed her hesitation and then pressed the button.
“The answer is B. Influenza.
Influenza is a disease caused by a viral infection. It is a highly contagious respiratory illness that affects the nose, throat, and sometimes the lungs. Symptoms of influenza include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, fatigue, and headache. It can lead to complications such as pneumonia, especially in young children, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems. Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent influenza, and antiviral medications can help reduce the severity and duration of the illness if taken early. Bacteria are also a cause of diseases, but the other options, antitoxin, and fracture, are not diseases”. Desmond said.
“Correct!”.The judge said and the Crowd cheered him up, Daisy became embarrassed.”Team B, pick your number”.
“Number ten”.1st student said.

“Correct Answer is D. Distinction. The quiz continued and they both Team ended up with equal points.
“We will take a break from here and come back in thirty minutes”.He said.
“That was amazing”.Mrs.Ava said as she hugged Desmond and Daisy.
“But I failed one question”.Daisy said sadly.
“Yeah, but you got two correctly”.She said.
“Don’t give up yet, you will do better”. Desmond said and they smiled.”Excuse me”.He said and left to meet Jasmine who was sipping from her water, they stared after him.
“Why is Desmond always giving his attention to Jasmine and not me”.Daisy frown.
“Are you jealous?”.Blake tease.
“Come on dear, don’t be like that, is a good thing that they are getting along than before, so be happy, we all are one family”.Mrs.Ava said.
Jasmine continued to sip from her water, but she was caught off guard as Desmond dragged the water from her and drank from it.
“Hey! that’s mine”.She said.
“Couldn’t you offer me water?”.He said as he gulped all and handed over the empty can to her.”Thanks”.
“I didn’t give you the water”.She frowns.
“It was refreshing and now I am full of energy to move on with the quiz”.He said smiling and Jasmine scoffed.
“Yeah right, you owe me!”.She said.
“I can take you to the river if you want”.He teased and then Mrs.Ava came over.
“Mom”. Jasmine called excitedly and hugged her and she patted her hair before they pulled away from each other.
“How are you doing dear?”.
“Am fine Mom”.She said and Mrs.Ava caressed her face.
“Am so happy to see you and Desmond getting along with each other”.
“Yeah, but he still sucks, he drank all my water without my permission”.She frowns and Mrs.Ava smiles.
“I told you I would take you to the river to have enough water”.He said.
“Don’t listen to him”.Mrs.Ava said and then the Judge boomed on the microphone asking the contestants to come back to the stage.”Break leg son”.She said and Desmond left with Daisy to the stage.
“Welcome back,”.The judge said. “Each team should pick two of their best contestants to continue with the quiz, you have two minutes to do that”.He said and they started to seek for who to go.
“I will go”.Daisy said.
“Are you sure?”. Desmond asked.
“Yes, I want to go”.
“Me too”. Samantha said.
“Are you two sure you can win this?”.Mike asked and they nodded.
“Ok, if you say so, wish you the best of luck”. Desmond said and then Daisy and Samantha moved to the stage and the Crowd clapped.
“Why did Desmond allow these two to take the last round?”.Blake asked.
“I don’t think is a bad thing”.Mrs.Ava said.
“It’s Mom, Daisy is not that smart, what if they lose to the other team?”.
“Be positive towards your sister, she will do great”.
“I sure hope so”.He said.
“Alright everyone settles down”.The judge said and they became calm.”Now we have two best students from each team, we have just four numbers remaining, we have 2, 19, 1, and 17, so, Team A, pick a number.
“Number one”. Samantha said.
“What does NASA stand for? A.National Acrobats and Swimming Association B.National Aeronautics and Space Administration C.Neighborhood Awareness and Sharing Alliance D.News Administration and Satellite Association E. None of the above”.He asked and Daisy hurried and pressed the button.
“The correct Answer is

It is a United States government agency responsible for the nation’s civilian space program and for aeronautics and aerospace research”.She answered boldly and Desmond smiled from the corner amazed.
“Correct!”.The judge said and the Crowd clapped.”The next Team, your number, please.
“Number 17”.2nd student said.

E.Geology”.He asked and the two teams hesitated to speak.”You have 30 seconds”.He said and they became murmuring in the crowd and the time became exhausted. “Can you give the answer Team A?”.He asked and they declined. “Team B students from the Audience, can you help your team out?”.He asked and waited for a while for a response, but no response.”How about Team A from the crowd?”.He asked and waited for a while and then Jasmine stood up and all eyes were on her.”Alright, can you tell us?”.
“Correct Answer is E. Geology. Geology is the study of the earth’s origin, history, and structure. It focuses on understanding the processes that have shaped the earth over millions of years, including the formation of rocks, minerals, and landforms. Jasmine said confidently and then sat down.
“Correct!”.The judge said and the students screamed in excitement.”Good! That’s 10 points for Team A”.
“Yes!”. Desmond said excitedly.
“Alright settle down and let’s continue”.The judge said and everyone became calm.”Team A, your number”.
“Number 19”.Daisy said.
“Ok, you can use a board to solve the explanation of the question”.He said and continued.”. which of these four numbers is the largest?
A.08 B. 0093 C.12.D.25?”. He asked and they hesitated.
“Come on”.Mike said looking worried and the crowd started to murmur.
“The answer is B.0093”.Daisy said.
“Do you have an explanation for that?”.The judge asked and she rolled her head. “Am afraid you are wrong”.He said and the students made a sound of disappointment.”Team B, can you?”.He asked and they declined and he asked the crowd and Jasmine raised her hand and everyone turned to her clapping. “Can you come to the stage?”.He asked and Jasmine walked to the stage facing the crowd.”What is the answer?
“Correct Answer is D.25”.She said.
“Yes!” Desmond said excitedly.
“Can you explain on the board?”.The judge asked and she nodded and walked to the board and started writing while explaining.

“Correct!”.The judge said and the students jumped up screaming in excitement.”Ok, everyone settles down “.He said trying to calm everyone down, Jasmine climbed down from the stage and left to her sit, everyone was cheering at her.
“Yeah right”.Daisy scoffed.
“Settle down and let’s continue “.The judge said and they became calm.”Team B this is your last question. “The government collects this to have money to pay for services that the people need A. Flowers

“Correct!”.The judge said and everyone cheered them up. “Now, we call for the results.
Some moments later, one of the judges came to the stage with the results and then addressed the audience.
“Alright let’s go…Team B scored 98 points”.He said and they clapped.”Thank you, Team A scored 100 points”.He said and the students jumped up in joy screaming in excitement, Desmond and Mike rushed to the stage and hugged the two girls, a Medal placed on their necks and a tiny trophy.”Congratulations”. he said and rushed to answer the judge that called his attention and then came back to the stage.”Alright, I have another thing to say, the judge has concluded to reward one person more, please welcome on stage Jasmine James”.He said and then Jasmine walked to the stage and they cheered her up.
“You did well”.The judge said and placed a Medal on her neck and they took pictures together”.
“Thank you, sir”.She smiles and then Desmond moves to her.
“You did great”.He said and they smiled at each other. Daisy stares angrily at them
