Chapter Five
Mrs. Lucia was in the bedroom smiling lovingly at the handkerchief in her hands, her husband entered to see the happy mood she was in.
“You have been in this mood since yesterday you returned from the market”.He said and She smiled.
“Yes, I am”.
“Where did you get that handkerchief from, it looks pretty, did you buy it?”.
“No, a young lady gave it to me yesterday, she is the same age as our daughter, she actually helped me with foodstuff when it fell from the shopping bag, she was so nice and caring”.She said.
“Really? “.
“Yes, I have never seen such a lovingly and humble girl before, she reminds me of when I was little, she has these dazzling eyes that look just like….”She turns to her husband. “like yours, she has the color of your eyes”.
“Really?Me?”.
“Yes, it’s weird, but she is very pretty”.She smiles.
“That’s good to know”.
“I wish Fiona could be like her”.
“Speaking of her, where is she?”.Mr. James asked.
“She went out with her friends”.
“How many times have we warned her to stop going out with those girls, they are the ones corrupting her”.He said.
“You know she is very stubborn”.She stood up to leave.”let me fix dinner”.She left for the kitchen.
Meanwhile, Fiona was with friends at the park, her friends were across the road buying ice cream, while she sat down behind in the swing holding a magazine and staring amazingly at Mrs. Ava’s family on the book cover.
“I wish I had a family like yours, you are so lucky Jasmine, blessed with a wealthy family, you got to wear good clothes, expensive bags, shoes, jewelry, eat delicious meals, and even ride in an expensive car…”She exhales.”I admire you a lot, I wish I was you, I would be on top of the world and people would bow at my feet”.She sighed.”But look at me, I ended up with a wretched family who can’t even take care of me or buy me expensive things, I h@ťě them so much”.She continues and her friends call out to her.
“Fiona, come on let’s go!”.They said.
“Coming!”.She placed the magazine in her crossed bag as she stood up to cross the road. Suddenly, a car ran her over, and she fell on the floor bleeding from the head and she lost consciousness.
“Fiona!!!” her friends screamed and rushed to her, while Mr. George and the driver rushed down
“Fiona! Please wake up!”.1st girl sobbed.
“Hurry up, let’s take her to the hospital”.Mr. George said as the driver picked her up into the car, two of her friends followed them while the other one ran home to inform her parents.
Mrs.Lucia was setting the dinner table when suddenly the girl rushed in panting.
“Who is chasing after you?”.She asked curiously and then Mr.James and his mother came out.
“What is going on? Aren’t you Fiona’s friend, where is she?”.Mr. James asked.
“Fi…Fiona…was….knocked….down…by…a…car”.She sputtered and everyone gasped in shock.
“What?”.Mrs.Lucia screamed.
“They are taking her to the hospital”.She said and they followed her out except their mother who stood behind.
“Now what, the girl will never let her parents have peace, from one problem to the other”.She said sadly.”I hope nothing happened to her”.
Meanwhile, Mrs.Ava was on the phone with her husband and she screamed which made the children rush into her room due to her scream.
“Mom, what happened?”.Jasmine asked.
“Mom, say something”.Desmond said as they were staring at their mother’s stunned face with her phone in her hand.
“Your father’s car knocked someone down”.She announced and they gasped.
“What?”.Blake said.
“I need to go to the hospital, you kids look after yourself, I will be back”.She picked up her bag and rushed out. The kids sighed sadly.

Some minutes later, Mrs.Lucia was already in the hospital waiting for the doctor’s report, she was sobbing bitterly while her husband was trying to calm her down. Mr. George was pestering around.
“Stop crying, I am sure she will be fine”. He said.
“Please God, don’t allow anything to happen to my daughter”.
“Nothing will happen to her, let’s have faith and I am so sorry”.Mr.George said feeling guilty.
Then Mrs.Ava entered, and immediately she saw her husband she rushed to hug him, after a while, they pulled away from each other.
“How is the victim doing? What really happened?”.She asked.
“I don’t know how it happened, the driver was careless, but the doctor is in there with her and we are waiting”. He said and his wife sighed and then moved to Mrs.Lucia and sat next to her.
“Please stop crying, nothing will happen to her”.She said politely
“She is my only daughter”.She sniffs and they continue to console her.
An hour later, the doctor came out and they rushed to him.
“Doctor, please tell me my daughter is fine”.Mr.James said
“I want to see my daughter”.She said.
“Calm down everyone, there is no need to panic, she is lucky the wound wasn’t deep but right she needs blood”.The doctor said.
“You can use mine doctor”.Mr.James said.
“The patient is O negative, which one of you has the same blood group?”.He asked talking to Fiona’s parents and they stared surprisedly at him.
“What are you saying doctor, my daughter can’t be O negative”.Mr. James said.
“Yes, none of us is O negative, maybe you got the wrong idea”.Mrs.Lucia said.
“I am not wrong, her test result stated she is O-negative”. He called one of the nurses who brought the test result and showed it to them. They were shocked.
“How is this possible”.Mr. James asked confusedly.
“We don’t need to waste time, we need to hurry with the blood”.
“Am O-Negative, can you use mine?” Mr.George said
“Sure, this way”. The doctor said and Mr.George followed him while Fiona’s parents were still in a state of confusion.
“You don’t need to get work up over it, I guess there is a mix-up somewhere”.Mrs.Ava said firmly.
