Chapter-Sixteen
Baek-Hyun and his dad were arguing and they were both yelling, Mrs.I-jun was trying to calm them down.
“Will you please stop telling me what to do with my life? This is my choice and I have every right to it”. Baek-Hyun said angrily.
” Your choice, you called that your choice? She is not your choice and it can never be” ” He yelled “A woman old enough to be your aunt, is what you are going after” he scoffed. “Not On my watch, son”
“I don’t care about what you think, it’s my choice and she is the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with, whether you like it or not”.
” Don’t you dare me, son, don’t make me lose my temper on you”.
“Please, let’s try to solve this maturely”. Mrs. I-jun said
” Why are you doing this Dad? Why are you against my happiness”.
“She is not your happiness! Why do you want to bring disgrace into this family”. he said.
” I am not bringing disgrace to the family, I am only following my heart, but, you were never like this before, Dad, you always say good things about ji-ho, what changes now?”. Baek-hyun asked calmly.
“Everything! I never had bad intentions for her not until she seduces you when she knows you are already engaged”.
” For a thousand times Dad, she didn’t seduce me, I went after her first, all these stories labeled against her are not true, ji-ho is not like that, she is pure and simple, why can’t you understand that”.
“I don’t care son, you will have to stay clear away from her, otherwise you both will have me to contend with”. he thr_@tened.
” I won’t do it that, if not ji-ho, then no one else”. he said and walked away angrily while his mother was trying to call him back.
“This is not fair for him, why can’t you let him make his own choices”. she frowned and Mr.Dae-jung stared at her for a while and left for his room.
Ji-ho was avoiding eye contact with her colleagues, they were giving her a doubtful look, and murmuring against each other. Suddenly, they were interrupted
” Is this what you all do on your duties, gossiping about other’s problems when you also have a hidden skeleton in your closets, I can get you all fired in a minute if you all don’t mind your business”. Baek-hyun yelled angrily at them, they went mute and quickly turned to their work, and Ji-ho stared surprisedly at him.
“Baek-hyun?” she called quietly, he moved closer to her smiling and caressed her hair tenderly, everyone was stealing gazes at them. he stared at her for a while and left for the manager’s office. ji-ho gulped nervously and focused on her computer avoiding their gaze.
A few minutes later, Baek-Hyun came out from the manager’s office and moved to ji-ho who was busy at her desk, everyone’s gaze was on them, but ji-ho didn’t notice because she was lost on her computer.
“wow, they kinda look cute together” 1st staff muttered quietly to the other staff beside her, and they giggled, ji-ho noticed them giggling, she wondered and then she gasped to see Baek-hyun standing close to her desk and smiling lovingly at her.
“What are you doing?” she asked.
“Staring at you”. he said and everyone gasped in fondness and ji-ho became nervous.” Does it bother you that I am staring at the most beautiful being on this planet Earth”. he added and leaned his face closer to her, everyone gasped and she pushed back a little.
” He is so romantic”2nd staff said blushing. ji-ho stood up quickly with her files.
“I think I need to give this to the manager” She turned to leave, and Baek-hyun grabbed her hand and pulled her to himself as he whispered in her ear.
“Why are you nervous? Are you trying to run away from me because of your colleagues who are here? You don’t have to darling, because their suspicious is right, it has been cleared to everyone that I am flirting with you”. he said and then pushed back smiling, ji-ho stare surprisingly at him and then rushed to the manager’s office, hiding her blushing, Baek-hyun smile after her and then turn his gaze to the rest.” have a nice day everyone and please be nice to my little pumpkin”. he gave a slight bow and walked away.
“Oh my gosh, he is so amazing” 1st staff said smiling.
“I Am beginning to believe that ji-ho didn’t seduce him, didn’t you all see the way he was all over her”. 2nd staff said.
” yeah, they look so perfect together, I rated them one hundred percent”3rd staff said
“He even calls her, his little pumpkin” they scream in excitement.
Two days later, Baek-hyun was invited to a press conference for the news spreading around the City. Baek-hyun sat down facing the cameras while the anchor was interviewing him.
“Is so good to have you here with us Mr.Baek-hyun”. she said.
” Thank you”.he replied with a smile. Everyone was watching on their TV, phones, and tablets.
“Baek-hyun is on TV”. Si-u said excitedly and ji-ho looked at her confusedly.
” He is always on TV, is this your first time seeing him on a TV show?” she asked.
“Not really, just happy that he is finally going to clear the false news label against you, isn’t that why he is on TV?” she said and they continued to watch the TV as Baek-hyun was answering the question thrown at him.
“So, what do you think of the news spreading around the whole city, claiming you were seduced by your high school teacher”. The anchor said and Baek-Hyun giggled.
” That’s not true, my teacher didn’t seduce me, I went after her, I fell for her at first sight, first it was because of her beauty, but later on, I found out it was not only her beauty that attracted me to her, it was her integrity and her kind heartened, I find it crazy at first to start falling for my teacher and then I realized it wasn’t a bad thing, love knows no boundaries, my friends understood me but also find it crazy”. he said and the anchor was smiling and nodding at his explanation. The interview continued with so many questions given to him and he gave a straight and meaningful explanation, everyone was pleased with his answers and positive comments began to pop up.
“The last question, before we call it a day, what about your engagement with the president’s daughter? Are you two together?” she asked.
“er, well, is kinda complicated for now, I can’t say no more”. he smiled.
Ha-jun who was watching from her tablet felt furious and flipped the phone on the bed.
” That moron, she got lucky this time”. she grunts angrily. Mr.Dae-jung and his wife were watching from the living room, Mrs. I-jun was pleased with her son’s comments.
“Your son is biting more than he can chew”. he said angrily.
” How do you mean? he didn’t say anything wrong”.
“Really? he didn’t?” he stood up angrily and left to his room, his wife staring after him confusedly. Su-ho was pleased with Baek-hyun’s comments.
“I know I can always count on you”. she said as she rested her head on her husband’s shoulder who was watching the show with her.
” He is indeed a generous man, he said it all, at least Ji-ho is free from the accusations”. he said.
“yes, am so happy”. she smiles and then lets out a sigh.
Later in the cool evening, Ji-ho relaxed on the bed working on her laptop, then her cell phone beeped with an incoming message from Baek-Hyun
💬”Hello, my little pumpkin”. he texted and Ji-ho replied with an emoji “What are you doing?”
💬”Working on my laptop”. she replied “And you?”
💬”Missing you”. he replied and Ji-ho smiled
💬”Will you be chance tomorrow? I want us to go out on a picnic”.
💬”I will love to, what time tomorrow?”.
💬”6 pm”
💬” On it, I will get the wine”.
💬” Sure, good night Baek-Hyun ”
💬 “Good night my little pumpkin, I love you”. he said and sent an emoji of love, a ji-ho smile, and then returned to her laptop.
The next morning, ji-ho and Si-u were having breakfast
” Are you going to tell Baek-Hyun about his dad’s visit to your place of work?” Si-u asked and ji-ho sighed as she had a flashback of what happened two days ago at her company when Mr.Dae-jung came over. The manager called her to the office and she stood in front of them and he could see the hard gaze Mr.Dae-jung was giving her.
“Excuse us,” Mr.Dae-jung said to the manager as he wriggled out of the office. ” I won’t waste too much of your time, I only have one question for you” ” He stared hard at her.”why my son?” he asked and ji-ho was dumbfounded as she bowed her head nervously. “Don’t make me ask again!” he yelled and ji-ho was startled.
“Am sorry sir, I-” she got interrupted.
“You are sorry! I didn’t train my son to meet someone like you, Out of all the men in this world, you choose to chase after my son, don’t you feel ashamed? A boy old enough to be your junior brother or rather your son, are you that less of a human?”. he quarreled.
” Am sorry, I didn’t mean for all these to happen”. she sobs quietly.
“You didn’t?!” he stood up quickly and ji-ho pushed back a little. “can you hear yourself? my son can never be yours, he is engaged to be married soon, allow him to be happy, he is only blinded by loss, not love, you are holding him bound, let him go, I can’t be alive and let you ruin my son’s life, you can never be good for him, you are nothing but an old rag”. he said harshly and ji-ho was deeply hurt by his words and he continues.” now listen, you have two options you are to choose from, you are going to go on air and make a video of yourself claiming you seduce my son because of his wealth or you will watch me take everything from him, his inheritance, I mean everything he had wished and work hard for and I will leave him to penniless and it’s going to be your fault”. he said and ji-ho stared surprisingly at him.
“You can’t do that sir, Baek-Hyun has everything right to his inheritance, I won’t let you take all he had labored for, please”. she pleased
” The ball is in your court, if my son ends up wretched is gonna be your fault”. he said and ji-ho sobbed looking confused. he threw a document at her and it fell on the floor.” that’s the agreement of you staying far away from my son, sign it and my son will be free from you”. he added, ji-ho picked it up and glanced through it.
“If I sign on this, will you still deprive him of his inheritance?”.
” Yes, but only if you refuse to go on air to claim you seduce my son”.
“If I do that, will you–” she got interrupted rudely.
“Don’t question me, young lady, if you do all I say I won’t deprive him of his inheritance, now sign it and make it snappy”.
” Okay” ” She picked up a pen from the manager’s desk and signed on it and then gave it back to him.
“Good! Now to the deal, I will offer you fifteen million won to stay all over again”.
” There will be no need for that sir, am sorry for everything” ” She gave a slight bow and left.
Flashback end.
“Are you?” Si-u asked again.
“There is no need for that “Ji-ho takes a sip from her tea.
” Really? What if he comes to confront you about the video”.
“let me deal with that”. she said and took another Si-u stared tiredly at her.
