“I found who took our package” Gator said with a smirk
“Who?” Mole asked impatiently and Gator played a video showing a girl picking up a book.
“Who’s that” Mole asked
“JEWEL RISE” Gator said as he looked at the video again.
********BROOKE’S HOSPITAL (NEXT DAY)*********
Dina was sleeping on a chair close to the door while Glenda was sleeping close to Jewel on a chair, head rest on the bed. Her hand held Jewel’s, protectively. Luke was no where to be found and the only thing heard was the beeping of the monitor that showed signs of life.
Jewel moved slightly as she opened her eyes slowly. Glenda felt movement and woke up to see an awake Jewel.
“Jewel” She called slowly
“Is this heaven?” Jewel asked with blurry eyes
“No” Glenda said admits tears
“Then is this hell?” Jewel asked again
“No, you’re still with me” Glenda said and realization dawn on Jewel.
“Mom?” She called slowly as the view became clearer.
“Butter” Glenda called with sad joy. Jewel just called her mom. The word she’s been yearning for. The same word she thought she would never hear from Jewel. She couldn’t contain her joy as her tears flowed freely
“Mom” Jewel called again but was responded with an overwhelming hug.
Dina woke up and smiled at the scene before her. Jewel finally opened up to her mom.
Jewel opened her arm and Dina rushed into the hug.
Soon the door opened and a nurse came in.
“She should have some space, she just woke up” She said and the trio broke the hug.
Jewel had a smile on her face. She thought she was never going to see her family again. Thinking of the accident made her remember Natasha and her smile turned a frown. This wasn’t going to pass her by. An eye for an eye. She’d make Natasha pay.
She looked around the room searching for someone. ‘Where was Luke? Didn’t he know about her accident? Or he just didn’t care’. Thoughts flowed through Jewel mind that her frown turned to a sad facial expression.
“Jewel, are you okay?” Glenda asked and Jewel forced a smile
“Yeah” Jewel replied but Dina noticed. She might not be with her glasses but her guts tells her Luke wasn’t there. And one thing is certain, she believes her guts.
*****ALEX’S HOUSE*****
Alex was going through his photo album of him, Luke and Mira when Dina barged in.
“Where the hell is Luke?” She shouted as freaking the hell out of Alex.
“He’s not here” Alex replied standing up to face a furious Dina.
“Then where the hell is he?” Dina yelled pacing about. “Jewel has been in the hospital and he’s no where to be found?? Does he even care at all? Jewel has been with him, trying to complete an unfinished business but what does he do when she got into an accident? huh?? he wasn’t even there for her when she was fighting for her life” Dina said half yelling.
Alex looked at her, walking closer. He noticed that sad expression under the canvas of her anger. He walked closer, taking her palm in his. “He left the moment he saw the news yesterday” He said calmly. “Maybe he was there, but wasn’t for long”
“At least, he should have waited till she was awake. Do you know how sad Jewel was waking up not to find him?” Dina said and a tear fell off her eyes. She immediately wiped them but another fell off
“You could ask for a shoulder to cry on” He said and Dina ran into an embrace, letting it all out.
“I really don’t know why I am crying? Jewel is awake, but here am I, crying like a baby” Dina said after few minutes off been in that position.
“What’s going on here?” Mira asked entering the room
**********JEWEL’S MANSION********
They just arrived home and Jewel was currently in her bedroom with her mom and Dina by her side. Her head was still bandaged.
Jewel was about taking her drugs when Luke appeared and her expression changed. “What are you doing here?” She asked
Glenda turned to Jewel “What are you talking about?” but Jewel wasn’t looking at her. She traced Jewel’s gaze to the wall.
‘Did the accident affect her head’ Glenda thought inwardly.
“Let’s go make dinner, she needs space” Dina said trying to get Glenda out of the room.
Glenda turned to leave but stopped at Jewel’s next words.
“I don’t want to talk to you”
“Butter, are you alright? Do I need to call the doctor?” She asked feeling agitated
“She’s fine, she just needs space” Dina said trying to convince Glenda to leave the room
“What do you mean by she is fine? huh?” Glenda asked
“Mom, I’m hungry, can you please make me dinner” Jewel asked
Glenda faced her, not certain of what her head is telling her. “Sure” she said leaving the room.
“Jules…”
“I don’t want to talk to you” Jewel said interrupting Luke.
“You’ve got to hear me out”
“I don’t want to” Jewel said facing the other side of the bed
“Jules, you don’t even know what I want to say” Luke said appearing in front of her.
“That’s because I don’t want to hear it. Just go.” She said angrily.
“Jules, at least you need to hear me out” Luke said walking closer but a glare from Jewel made him stop.
“What are you gonna say this time? huh? That you wanted to clear your head??? Or you needed a personal space?”
“That’s not what happened” Luke said interrupting her
“Then what happened? Did you get into a ghost accident? Where you hospitalized? I try my best to help you finish an unfinished business that is and shouldn’t be connected to me. I was there for you to talk to when no one could see or hear you. I was there every single day of your f-__-king ghost life, but what did I get in return??? I was hospitalized and you weren’t even there for me…” Jewel paused trying to stop the tears that was about to fall from her eyes.
“I was fighting for my life in there, but you weren’t even there to show support. Were you really roaming about the street while I was dying????” She asked as a tear escaped her eye.
“The least you could have done was to be present” Jewel said
“Jules…”
“The name is Jewel and please leave” She said with a breaking voice as she hid herself under the duvet.
Silence reigned for a few minutes. Luke was confused, not knowing whether to leave or stay. One thing he knew for sure is that he felt a pang of pain in his chest. He could feel tears rolling of his eyes but each time he touches his face, there was nothing.
Jewel was underneath the duvet trying to get her thoughts together. Did she really mean he should leave????? Her eyes kept pouring out tears freely.
“I hope you heal fast” Luke said before disappearing.
