° Episode 28 °
Miles stepped on the accelerator pedal, he eyes was focused on the road.
You could tell he was thinking about something but one could hardly read his emotion at that time.
Miles please slow down, Ace begged
We might end up dying before we get to your house, Ace said. Miles didn’t utter a word instead he stepped on the accelerator pedal harder.
Miles please I want to throw up, Ace said holding his stomach.
Use the window, Miles said.
Gosh why did I follow you?, I should have stayed at home, now I am going to die, that’s why I don’t let you drive, Ace cried. Miles rolled his eyes.
They finally got to Miles’s family house and Ace jumped out immediately.
He held his stomach and leaned on the car.
Miles scoffed and entered the house.
Valentina was sitting on the dinning, she was drinking tea.
She turned immediately Miles came in.
Mi?, She called surprised. Ace also came in.
Hi aunt, Ace waved. Valentina stared at the both of them
What are you doing here by this time?, Valentina asked.
Miles walked to her and stretched a paper to her. She stared at him blankly.
It’s for you, he said.
What’s is it for?, She asked but He didn’t reply.
She took the paper and stared at it.
DNA results?, She asked.
Yeah, he mumbled.
Not biologically related?, Who’s it for, Valentina asked.
Chelsea, he replied. She gasped.
Whatttttt!!!!
You didn’t think I would do that?, He asked.
I thought……, She paused and ruffled her hair. Miles looked at the paper.
° Flash back °
What the f-__-k……, Ace gasped.
What does it say, Miles asked visibly panicking.
This is crazy, Ace mumbled staring at the paper.
Already frustrated Miles grabbed the paper.
Hey guy wait…….
He stared at it and looked at Ace immediately.
Not biologically related?, Miles mumbled.
What does it mean?, He asked.
Are you seriously asking me that?, It means you and Chelsea are not related, Ace scoffed. Miles immediately ran upstairs.
Hey wait you should use the elevator, Ace screamed but he didn’t even turn back.
Then few minutes later he came back with his car keys.
It’s already getting dark, Where the hell are you going to?, Ace asked.
My mom, Miles replied.
Huh why would you…….
Miles ran out before he could finish talking and he had no choice but to follow him.

Valentina stood up and moved away few meters away from Miles.
I was angry so I said nonsense, I am sorry. I wasn’t considerate, She said.
But what does it mean? Does it mean dad had an affair with Chelsea’s mom?, Miles asked.
Valentina chuckled.
Wait what’s even their history together, Ace asked.
They used to be couples when we were in college. They were our school model couples for two years, Valentina said.
What the f-__-k!!!!, Ace gasped.
They met in high school and began their relationship in college.
Then I wasn’t close to them but they were popular everyone knew them. I had a crush on your dad then but it wasn’t deep.
I mean he was really good looking, smart and the dream of every girl then.
But Krystal Silver had him and of course a lot of girls were envious.
After graduating I didn’t hear from them again but we crossed paths three years later again.
Krystal had travelled to Italy for her PHD and it affected their relationship.
They broke up two months before my parents formally Introduced me to your dad, Paul.
Then we were told to get married for the sake of the company.
I had been excited at first but Paul’s attitude ki||ed the excitement.
He had hoped to get back together with Krystal and vehemently rejected. I was heartbroken and also wanted to end it but my parents refused.
And then exactly two weeks later, he came to me and accepted to marry me. I thought it was awkward.
Then later I realized that he travelled to all the way to Italy to talk to her but discovered that she had started dating someone else.
He was bittered about it but there was nothing he could do, they were already over before she started her new relationship.
Valentina paused.
Don’t tell me this new guy is Jewel’s father, Ace said.
Valentina nodded.

When he returned, under the pressure from his family, he gave in to the marriage.
I was reluctant when I discovered what happened but my family wouldn’tet me think of anything else apart from the marriage.
I later gave in to my family and thought that after the marriage he was going to fall for me.
But unfortunately he never looked at me.
He only started having intimate relations with me after his family pressured him for a heir.
The first time Paul looked at me with happiness was when you were born. I’ve never seen him that happy.
Your arrival brought us closer.
Two months after you were born, Krystal came back with Fernando and they got married.
And almost seven months later, she had her first baby.
At that time the both of you attended the same day care, so we always bumped into each other.
I always h@ťěd my husband’s look whenever he saw her. He had never stared at me that way before but to Krystal, she didn’t even have to try hard.
Thus I h@ťěd her.
At that time when you and Jewel were two years, she and Fernando had a big fight that they almost divorced.
It was during that period that she and Paul reconciled fully and began to hang out together.
It may be a harmless outing but I was always jealous. I knew what Paul felt for her.
It was during that period that she got pregnant for Chelsea and the first thing I thought of was that Paul might be the father.
Due to the pregnancy, she and Fernando didn’t go through with the divorce anymore.
Then you became really close with Jewel, at first I wasn’t comfortable with it, but when I saw you happy whenever you were with her, I grew to like her too.
She was also cute.
Slowly I stopped hating Krystal and decided to make sure my son ends up happy instead. The happiness I couldn’t get, I hoped he will get it.
Paul also felt happy whenever he saw the both of you together, he probably remembered his past with Krystal then.
Sadly that incident happened. At first I regretted letting you go close to Jewel because of how you suffered but then I realized even if I tried, I wouldn’t be able to stop you.
I didn’t think that Chelsea was my husband’s child.
Because deep down I knew that even though his heart was not with me, he won’t think of cheating but most times it just gets hard on me.
Miles dear, you didn’t have to listen to the rubbish I said few days ago. I was really pissed and upset.
I didn’t think about how you would feel if you heard that, I am a bad mom, she mumbled. Miles shook his head.
What are you talking about, you are the best mom in the world, Ace said.
Oh please don’t…….
Miles hugged her before she could finish her statement.
Miles, she mumbled.
I am sorry mum, you had to got through all that, Miles said.
It’s not your fault, don’t be sorry, Valentina said. Miles pulled away from her and held her hand.
But then you can’t marry someone you don’t love, marriage is a life time promise. If you are with someone you do not love, it will only bring suffering for a life time.
So I don’t want to hear you get married to Kimberly, Valentina said.
Miles smiled.
Don’t get me wrong, I love her as a daughter but I know you are not in love with her, she said.
Miles held her cheeks.
You are really the best mum, he whispered. She laughed and hit his chest.
That hurt, he mumbled.
So what’s up with you and Chelsea, Valentina asked.
Jeez it’s not what you think, do you remember that day I slept in the cruise ship because of her? You even told me about it that day. I realized it was true so we are helping each other. We are not really together, he said.
Long story, Valentina scoffed.
I am really serious, Miles said
Do you love her or not, Valentina asked. Miles kept quiet immediately.
Just what I thought, she laughed.
Mum you must avenge me, on our way here Miles almost ki||ed me with speed, Ace said. Valentina smacked Miles immediately.
Ouch mum, Miles groaned.
Are you trying to ki|| my boy, she snapped.
Seriously?? Are you taking his side?, He frowned. Ace hugged Valentina and stuck his tongue at her. He scoffed.
Valentina pulled away and smiled.
So what’s up with you and Happy, why didn’t you tell me, She asked.
Ace was about to reply when his phone rang.
I need to go important call, He said and zoomed off immediately.
Valentina smiled and started arranging Miles shirt.
I guess you remember I am your son now, Miles scoffed.
Valentina chuckled.
I wanted to tell you that your dad is also not a bad person, he also low-key wants you close to him, he was also pained to see you suffer back then. He probably feels love would only hurt you, Valentina said. Miles smiled.
I understand you mum, and please stay away from the marriage matter. I will talk to him about, Miles said. Valentina nodded.
Ace came back inside.
Shouldn’t we be going Miles, your manager called, Ace said.
My manager?? For what I am with my pho…..
Miles paused and looked at Ace’s eye. He was blinking at him as if trying to tell him something.
Okay mum I need to go, I will call you, he told Valentina.
Fine take care, she whispered. He pecked her cheeks and immediately left with Ace.

What happened?, Miles asked Ace immediately they got to the car.
Chelsea is missing, Ace said.
Huh!!!!
Happy called me. She said that Kimberly talked about your marriage with her today, Ace said.
Miles sighed and touched his forehead.
She also noticed she wasn’t looking good today, so she called on her to check on her. But her phone is off and her manager said she also can’t reach her and she isn’t at home, Ace continued.

They have been trying to reach her since but everything has been cutoff, Ace said.
Miles brought out his phone and also dialed her number but of course it wasn’t going through.
He threw his phone to the ground in frustration.
