Michael packed his bags as he prepared to leave the office. He already made up his mind not to go and meet Loveth. She makes him lose his mind only at the sound of her voice so he doesn’t know what will happen if he sees her.
He walked out of the company and got into a taxi while in the taxi he thought about the suspect.
He opened his bag and stared at the picture of Mr. Sylvester .He hoped his mother had no connection with this man but a part of his mind kept telling him that there was more to the kidnap of his sister.
He mentally prepared himself for wh@Ε₯Δver reaction he was going to get from his mother. Regardless,he wanted to unveil the truth.
He dropped off at the front of his house and paid the taxi driver. He stood in front of the house and sighed deeply before going inside the house.
“Am back home,mother.”said Michael as he pulled off his shoes yet there was no response. He walked in and saw his mother preparing dinner in the kitchen. It was obvious she was ignoring on purpose. He sighed and went into his room to change his clothes.
He came out and saw that the table had been set already but food wasn’t the matter in his mind at the moment. He just wanted to know if his mother had any connection with Mr. Sylvester.
“I met with Brian today”began Michael and his mother left what she was doing and ran towards him holding him tightly.
“Have he found my baby?”asked Linda as tears formed in her eyes and Michael nodded negatively.
“Then what did he say?Why is it so hard for him to find her?”wept Linda as she hit Michael gently.
“Mom,Brian is trying his best but you know she got kidnapped the day you birth her and it has been 21yrs now. No one knows how she looks like or what she looks like including you…..”Michael was saying but he was sharply interrupted by Linda.
“Who told you that?I know how my daughter looks like.I carried her in my arms even if it was just for a few seconds.Her eyes were shining like emerald and her lips were so pinkish.She had a flawless fair skin and her beauty was captivating.Her skin was tender that I was scared to hold her because I don’t want to hurt her.”said Linda as she recalled when she first saw her daughter.
(FLASHBACK:21YRS AGO)
She was still in the pain of labour but she held her baby beaming happily.She could say that her child was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen in the world.
“Hand the baby over,ma’am.We have to wash her up.”said a nurse and she reluctantly handed over the baby.She dozed off while waiting for the nurse to return with her baby.
She woke up and didn’t find the child beside her.She became scared but she tried to be calm as she called for a nurse and ask for her child.
The whole hospital turned upside down in search of her daughter and every pleas of the doctors fell on deaf ears. It was hard to believe that the child she held in her arms a few hours ago was no where to be found.
“Where is my daughter?!”She screamed. It took months for her to recover but as soon as she did she began the search for a child.
Just like that,21yrs passed away and there was still no sign of her daughter yet she wasn’t planning on giving up.She was going to find her daughter no matter what it takes.
“That was 21yrs ago,mother!She is probably all grown into a beautuful young lady.That’s if she is still alive”said Michael and Linda sighed sadly.That was the bitter truth she had been avoiding since.What if her child was dead?She had always convinced herself that her daughter was alive but the possibilities that she might be dead was so clear.
“Brian found a lead suspect on the case.”Michael dropped the bomb shell and Linda’s eyes widened. It seemed like her daughter will be found soon.
“Here is a picture of him”said Michael as she handed a picture of Mr.Sylvester to his mother.
Linda held the picture and stood frozen. She blinked her eyes in doubt. She didn’t want to believe that she knew the person in the picture.
Unconsciously,tears trickled down her cheeks as she stared intently at the picture. He took her baby because he wanted to get back at her.
“Do you know him,mother?”asked Michael and Linda quickly wiped away her tears.
“No,I don’t.”lied Linda.There was no way she was going to let her son know about her dirty past.Michael stared at his mom and he knew she was telling a lie.
“But why..”Michael was cut short by the ringing of his phone
“Excuse me,mom”said Michael as he went to pick the call
“Hello”said Michael and the statement made by the person at the other end made his phone slip down from his hands
He rushed out of the house hurriedly as tears flowed down his cheeks.He wouldn’t forgive himself if anything goes wrong.He looked around and there weren’t any taxi or bus available.He checked his wristwatch and it was 11:00pm. It was so late at night
He ran as fast as his legs could carry him as his tears poured more heavily
