CHAPTER 68

AMY’S POV

As I sat in my quiet living room, the weight of
the rumors bearing down on me, I felt a mix of
anger, frustration, and deep sadness. Jayden’s
malicious intent to ruin James’s reputation and
tear us apart had taken its toll on my emotions.
But I couldn’t let these lies consume me. It was
time to confront Jayden and put an end to this
torment.
The weight of the rumors and the malicious lies
Jayden had spread about James weighed
heavily on my heart. I couldn’t bear to see
James’s reputation tarnished, nor could I
tolerate the pain and devastation caused by
Jayden’s actions. I had to stand up for the truth
and make him stop.

With a determined resolve, I dialed Jayden’s
number, my hands trembling slightly. Each ring
felt like an eternity, amplifying the tension
building within me. Finally, he picked up.

“Hello, Amy,” his voice was laced with an
undercurrent of arrogance. .
“What brings you to call me today?” Jayden’s
voice dripped with faux sweetness, but I could
hear the smugness beneath his words.

“Jayden, we need to talk,” I stated firmly, my
voice steady despite the turmoil inside me. “I’ve
had enough of these rumors you’ve been
spreading about James. It needs to stop.”

A brief pause followed my words, as if Jayden
was contemplating his next move. Then he
chuckled, a sound that sent shivers down my
spine. “Amy, my dear, don’t you see? This is all
for your own good. James is not the man you
think he is. I’m trying to protect you.”

His condescending tone fueled my anger. I took
a deep breath, channeling my resolve. “I
appreciate your concern, Jayden, but I know
James better than anyone. I know his heart, his
character. I love him, and I won’t let these lies
tarnish what we have.”

There was a flicker of frustration in Jayden’s
voice. “You’re making a mistake, Amy. Can’t you
see that? I’m the one who truly loves you, who
can provide for you. James is just using you.”

I clenched my fists, my voice filled with
conviction. “No, Jayden. You’re wrong. Love
isn’t about material possessions or empty
promises. It’s about trust, understanding, and a
connection that goes beyond superficiality.
James has shown me all of that, and I won’t let
your lies tear us apart.”

There was a momentary silence on the other
end of the line, and I could almost sense the
wheels turning in Jayden’s mind. Finally, he
spoke, his voice dripping with venom. “If that’s
your choice, Amy, then so be it. But remember,
you brought this upon yourself.”

“Jayden, don’t end the call, we need to talk
about this. What happened to you?” I stated
firmly, trying to keep my voice steady.

There was a brief pause on the other end of the
line, followed by a dismissive chuckle. “What
could we possibly have to talk about, Amy?
You’ve made your choice, haven’t you? You
chose James over me Amy!” He barked.

I took a deep breath, determined not to let his
condescending tone deter me. “This isn’t about
my choice, Jayden. It’s about the lies and
rumors you’ve been spreading about James. I
won’t stand by and let you ruin his reputation.”

There was a hint of amusement in his voice as
he replied, “Oh, so you’re defending him now?
How noble of you. But don’t worry, Amy, I’m not
the only one spreading those rumors. It seems
like everyone knows the truth about James.” He
laughed.

His words stung like a sharp blade slicing
through my heart. I couldn’t believe the extent of
his vindictiveness. “Those rumors are false,
Jayden. You know it, and I know it. I won’t let
you continue to hurt James and our
relationship.”

He laughed derisively, the sound grating against
my ears. “Your relationship? Are you still
holding on to some deluded hope that you and
James can be together? Well, let me tell you,
Amy, it’s never going to happen.”

My anger flared, pushing me to speak my truth.
“You don’t get to decide that, Jayden. My
feelings for James are real, and I won’t let your
lies dictate my happiness. I love him, and I
would do anything for him.”

There was a moment of silence, and I could
sense Jayden’s frustration seeping through the
phone. “You’re making a mistake, Amy. James
isn’t who you think he is. But go ahead, defend
him. See where it gets you.”

He hung up the phone, my heart racing with a
mixture of anger, sadness, and determination. I
couldn’t let Jayden’s words undermine my belief
in James and our love. It was time to take
action, to put an end to the lies and rumors once
and for all. I had to meet him face to face and
even though I knew confronting him would have
consequences, i couldn’t stand by and let his
devious actions continue to harm James and
our relationship.

I chose to wear a sleek, tailored black blazer
that accentuated my figure. Underneath, I opted
for a crisp white blouse, the blouse had delicate
lace detailing, adding a touch of femininity to
my ensemble.
Pairing the blouse with a pair of fitted black
trousers, that hugged my curves in all the right
places.
To complete my look, I slipped into a pair of
black pointed-toe heels, adding a touch of
elegance and height. They clicked against the
pavement with each step, mirroring the firmness
of my resolve.

As for accessories, I kept them minimal but
impactful. I wore a silver pendant necklace, a
meaningful piece that reminded me of the
strength and love I shared with James and a
delicate silver bracelet adorned my wrist

With my appearance meticulously curated, I
took one final glance in the mirror and I was
pleased. I put my hair in a ponytail and with a
deep breath, I grabbed my bag, grabbed my coat
and keys, a surge of adrenaline fueling my
steps as I headed towards Jayden’s apartment.
I needed to confront him face-to-face, to
demand that he stop his malicious campaign
against James.

With each step closer to Jayden’s place, I felt
my resolve intensify. I was prepared to face him
head-on, to demand the truth and put an end to
his malicious games.
As I approached Jayden’s door, I raised my
hand, ready to knock and confront the man who
had tried to tarnish my love and reputation. I
took a deep breath, steadying myself for what
lay ahead. I knew this confrontation wouldn’t be
easy, but I had to stand up for James and for
the truth.

Jayden opened the door, a smirk playing on his
lips. “Back so soon, Amy? Can’t get enough of
defending your beloved James?”

I stared at him, my eyes filled with
determination. “I’m not here to defend him,
Jayden. I’m here to make you stop. Your lies
and rumors end now.”

He scoffed, attempting to brush off my words.
“And what can you possibly do to stop me,
Amy? You’re just as deluded as James.”

I straightened my posture, my resolve shining
through. “I may not have the power to silence
your words, Jayden, but I have the truth on my
side. I won’t let you destroy James’s reputation
and our chance at happiness.”

Jayden’s smug expression wavered for a
moment before he regained his composure.
“You think you can challenge me? You’re
underestimating my influence, Amy. No one will
believe your defense of James when the rumors
are so convincing.”

I took a step closer, refusing to back down. “I
have faith in people’s ability to see through lies
and deceit. I will make it my mission to expose
your manipulation and show them the truth.”

His eyes narrowed, a flicker of anger flashing
across his face. “You’re making a grave
mistake, Amy. You don’t know what I’m capable
of.”

A surge of determination coursed through my
veins. “And you don’t know the lengths I’m
willing to go to protect the ones I love. I won’t let
your vendetta against James destroy
everything.”

With that, I turned on my heel and walked away
from Jayden’s apartment, leaving him seething
with anger behind me. I knew the road ahead
wouldn’t be easy, but I was prepared to fight for
the truth and for James…..
