“Daughter??”

“Step father??”

They both chorused with dilated pupils.

Emerald quickly stood up from his chair and moved closer to them, just to get a clearer look at his so called ‘Step daughter’.

It even sounded weird coming out of his mouth. The last thing on his mind is having a child..

“This must be some kinda joke. Right mum??” Lyric said, still finding it hard to believe what her mom had just told her.

When she returned from Paris, after being sent there six years ago to stay with her grand parents.

Her mother informed her about her engagement and she was glad that she finally decided to settle down.

She never imagined that her mum will stoop too low to get herself involved with a guy that’s young enough to be her son.

“What do you mean by that dear? Does it look like i’m kidding here? Emerald and i are in love. We plan on getting married soon. Right sweetheart?” Aneesa blushed and pecked emerald’s lips.

Lyric squeezed her face in disgust and peeled her gaze away from them immediately.

“You never told me you had a daughter. A daughter that’s this grown up. Why did you hide it from me?” Emerald frowned and went back to his sit.

When his parents heard about his decision, they weren’t so pleased about it, but they had to accept just for his happiness.

The news of Aneesa having a daughter is going to give them second thoughts about it. They might ask for the wedding to be called off.

“I’m so sorry sweetheart. I was looking for the right time, but couldn’t find it. I knew she would be returning today, that’s why i asked for us to meet here” Aneesa said and sat in front of him.

Lyric has been standing like a mannequin, looking so disappointed, pissed and also heart broken. Her mother knows nothing but to embarrass her.

Sometimes, she’s always ashamed to say that Aneesa Dunlop is her mother.

“I’m leaving mum. I can’t stand this” Lyric said and was about to leave, when emerald spoke.

“You don’t have to leave so soon. We haven’t gotten to know each other better. Since we’re going to be family, why don’t we…”

“Why don’t we what, you piss of garbage?. I’m very sure that you talked my mother into doing this. You’re just a stvpid jerk who knows nothing but to use ladies for fun. I might know nothing about you, but evil emits from you. I can feel it from here” Lyric interrupted, already pissed.

She dropped the cup of hot coffee on the table after saying what was on her mind and left.

Emerald was left dumbstruck. Nobody has ever spoken to him in that manner. And coming from a lady, it left him amazed.

“I like her courage…” His subconscious said.

“I’m sorry about her sweetheart. She’s always been so full of herself. We’re gonna have a talk again, this time during lunch. My house around 12pm tomorrow, don’t be late” Aneesa pecked his lips again and left.

“What the f-__-k just happened?” Emerald muttered, running his hands through his hair.

“Wait!!!. Please!!!. Don’t leave please”

Raspberry ran after the bus, yelling at the top of her voice, but it made no means of stopping.

The little hope she thought she had is now gone.

She got to the bus station really late, now how is she supposed to get back to the restaurant and plead to her boss for another chance.

She doesn’t even have enough on her to take a taxi.

“There’s no harm in walking, it might take a lot of time by foot, but surely i’ll get there before midnight” She stated determinably and started her journey.

The street lights shined brightly, and gave her a clear view of the beautiful city, everything looks just so perfect.

But why can’t her life be this preety?? Why are bad things always happening to her?

It’s not a festive season, so everything is in place, but there are a few stores with flashy lights.

She never noticed for once that there was a poster of Cardi B pasted on the walls, not until now.

She’s a huge fan. She’s always been…

“Wow! This is really beautiful and impressive. I wish that one day,, i’ll be like her” She gushed happily at the poster, from Cardi B’s outfit, and most especially the perfect brunette she groomed.

Her gaze landed on a car that is longer than she’s ever imagined it should be, it had a tinted glass so she couldn’t see who was inside.

Raspberry kept staring and staring, without being cautious of where she was going.

“Get off the way, m*d woman” A voice jolted her out of her thoughts, which caused her purse to fall, and the whole content started rolling all over the road.

He has been horning for her to get off the way, but she didn’t even notice.

“What do you mean by that?. Gosh people are just so rude!!” Raspberry spoke angrily.

She picked her purse and looked up to see a guy with a mask over his face staring down at her, but his anger subdued the moment he saw her.

“I’m asking you, what do you mean by am m*d? Yes, am m*d. Do you want me to show you what a m*d person is capable of you motherf-__-ker!!” Raspberry yelled furiously, clenching her fists.

“Grandma, i’m sorry for using curse words. I just can’t stand the insults anymore” Raspberry muttered to herself.

“You don’t need to show me, with the way you’re behaving, it’s quite obvious that you’re a maniác that escaped from an asylum” The guy scoffed and walked back into the car.

He drove off instantly with sparing her a single glance.

Raspberry scoffed too and turned immediately to see her golden necklace in the middle of the road, she ran to get it.

It’s the only thing she has left from her parents, and can’t bare to loose it.

“I thought i lost you” She smiled brightly and stood up, almost immediately a truck ran over her.

She flew up and landed on the floor with a loud thud.

“I’m finally leaving this cruel world. No more suffering,, no more tears. I’m fr… ee” Raspberry coughed out blood.

Her eyes closed shut,, and her heart stopped beating. Her blood flowed like a river and stained the streets.

People walking by gasped,and some paused to help, while others took to their heels to avoid problems for themselves.

“Oh my God. This is so terrible!.

“Poor girl”

“The person responsible for this didn’t bother to stop, people are just so heartless”

“I hope she’s going to be okay”

“Somebody!! Call for help!!” An old woman yelled worriedly, and stared at the unconscious raspberry.

Suddenly, a black Mercedes-Benz came to an halt in front of the scene. A figure came out and rushed to raspberry.

A tear slipped down her face as she watched raspberry in the pool of her own blood.

⟨THE FOLLOWING DAY••AN HOTEL ROOM⟩

“Kingsley … oh yeah”

He shoved himself inside her, and she threw back her head in pleasure.

Tears welled up in her eyes instantly.

“You’ll pay for this!!!” He heard her scream behind him but he just chuckled as he walked away.

His phone suddenly began ringing. He sighed when he saw the caller’s ID.

“Mom?” He picked.

“Kingsley!! Where have you been since last night? You didn’t show up after you returned from Puerto Rico, and you weren’t picking your calls also. I was so worried”

Kingsley rolled his eyes.

“I am 23 mom, that’s old enough to do wh@ťěver i like. I’m no longer a kid, stop being dramatic woman” Kingsley said.

“When will you quit this playboy life of yours?? When will you realize that they’re lots of girls who really love you for real??” Kristen, kingsley’s mom screamed loudly over the phone.

“Women are my life. I can’t help it”

“Shut up and get your lazy @zz here. Something very terrible happened last night. Someone got hurt, but she’s fine now. We’re at the hospital. Hurrry!!!!” Kristen sounded a bit worried. She hanged up afterwards.

Kingsley bit his lip séxily as he strode to were his car was parked. He entered and drove off.

⟨A BOUTIQUE⟩

“That’s so gorgeous!!” Quincy gushed when Tessa came out of the dressing room, fully clad in a blue mini skirt and a net blouse.

It had feathery designs on the neck line, same as the wrists. Her cleavages were left revealed.

She looked like a doll, especially with the way the cloth exposed her thighs and smooth straight legs.

“I know right. It seems like this dress was made for me!” Tessa smiled.

“Yeah. Wh@ťěver!” Mona Lisa chuckled and entered the room.

She came out with a black baggy jeans, a white Mona Lisa designed top and a white beanie. She looked so cute and boyish.

“Eww. Gross. I forgot, i have a faggot as a friend. Sometimes i wonder why i ever approached you” Tessa rolled her eyes at Mona Lisa.

“You know your words don’t affect me right?? Say all you want, but that won’t change who i am” Mona Lisa replied back immediately.

Tessa and Quincy entered the dressing room again.

This time around, they came out of the room at the same time, looking stunning in the black fitted skirt and shinny crop tops they’re wearing.

They topped it with expensive heels.

They’ve actually been shopping since morning. The week after this, they’ll be resuming into college. Finally!.

Cambridge College.

They checked themselves out in the mirror and went back in to change into another dress.

“We’re the hótest babes in the world!” Quincy gushed as they went in to change again.

This time, bikinis. Șëx¥ ones.

They continued changing into various clothes till they almost tried out everything in the boutique, then they changed back into their own clothes.

“Pack everything we tried out today, i’ll be paying for everything” Tessa ordered the attendants, and Mona Lisa and Quincy stared at her wide-eyed.

“What??. Tessa it’s too much!. We can just..” Mona Lisa was saying but…

“Nothing is too much when it comes to dresses. Don’t be such a kíll joy” Tessa frowned.

“You’re the best bestie in the world. Anyone will kíll to have a wealthy best friend like you. I love you sweety” Quincy wanted to hug her, but Tessa immediately stepped away.

She ended up hugging the air.

“No touching” Tessa scowled.

⟨DUNLOP RESIDENCE••GENERAL KITCHEN⟩

The maids in charge of preparing lunch walked into the kitchen nonchalantly, as they saw Aneesa addressing the others.

“Everyone of you must be in your best conduct, and i don’t want to see anyone sitting idly, spending time doing nothing. Do i make myself clear??” Aneesa asked in her usual stern voice.

“Yes Boss lady!!” They all chorused, with smiles on their faces.

Some of them are excited that the Emerald Fernandez will be showing up at the house today, while the rest don’t even know who he is

“Poppy and Godiva, ensure that the visitors bedroom is neatly cleaned up, the washroom mustn’t be of an exemption. And give Dimples ⟨Lyric’s cat⟩ a bath afterwards. You know she doesn’t like germs around her” Aneesa instructed strictly.

“That’s that for now, you can all get back to work” She added, before walking away.

Poppy and Godiva were also on their way to the visitors bedroom, when a certain girl bumped into them unintendedly.

“Hey newbie. Are you naturally dúmb or do you have to put in effort?” Godiva shot daggers at her, with her upper lip curled slightly in a scowl.

She is the kitchen trouble maker, she’s always getting into one trouble or the other.

Everything about her is total bád news.

“Mianhae ⟨Am sorry⟩” The girl pleaded with her Korean accent and bowed, then she began walking away.

Godiva intentionally put out her leg, and the girl tripped and fell on her face.

“Bitçh. How dare you insult me with another language? Have you lost it?” Godiva smirked at her, before walking away alongside Poppy.

The girl sighed, and stood up to dust off her dress that is already messed up.

Ring! ring!

Came the doorbell. One of the maids ran to get it,, low and behold it was an Angel.

Emerald was standing there looking so breathtaking. His clothes were impeccable, each item chosen with care and consideration.

His suit was perfectly tailored, the fabric a rich navy blue that accentuated his broad shoulders and lean frame.

His shirt was crisp and white, the collar starched to perfection. His tie was a bold crimson, the color bringing out the blue of his eyes.

And his shoes were polished to a mirror-like shine, completing the ensemble with style and grace.

He was the very picture of sophistication and elegance, his every detail carefully considered and executed to perfection.

“Go..od After… noon, Si.. r” The maid’s voice quivered, just his mere look made her nervous and wet at the same time.

“Let him in and get lost” Aneesa ordered. The maid did as told and left.

Lyric didn’t get to complete her statement, cause her towel got loose and dropped on the floor. They raised their head’s up to meet each other’s eyes.

When their eyes locked, lyric’s eyes widened to the size of a watermelon.
