Alex stood up from the cushions and walked to
the curtains. He saw a car outside the
compound and a man came out from it.
“Why does he have a resemblance with him so
much?
Alex wondered as he stared at Ethan’s face.
“Could this be his son?
He was still wondering when his phone rang.
(Outside Lauren’s home)
Ethan walked to Lauren who was already
waiting outside. As soon as Ethan saw Lauren
in her work dress, he flinched back a bit
surprised.
“Oh gosh”
Ethan muttered.
Lauren noticed his reactions to the dress she
wore.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing… You look okay”
Ethan lied.
“Come in, let’s go, the evening is still young”
Lauren sighed and stepped into Ethan’s car. Her
mind was somewhere else.
She was thinking maybe Alex was right about
the dress. She took a deep breath and decided
to muster up the courage and ask
Ethan was about to ignite the car engine when
he was taken off surprised by Lauren’s words.
“Did I wear the right thing to this date?”
Lauren said with fear that Ethan might say no
“I think we should visit the clothing mall”
Ethan said instead and drove off from the
neighborhood.
“So that means am wearing the wrong dress?
Lauren decided to continue the conversation.
Ethan couldn’t keep his laughter. He burst into
laughter making Lauren feel embarrassed.
Lauren look outside to avoid Ethan seeing his
embarrassed face.
Ethan noticed it.
“Am sorry, I just can’t keep my laughter
Don’t be shy, I understand”
“Yeah, I should have listened to Alex”
Lauren said.
“Who is Alex?
Ethan asked.
Lauren suddenly kept mute.
“No one”
Never mind”
She quickly objected.
“Okay??
Let’s hit the cloth store first”
Ethan said and took a left turn to another side
of the road.

After Lauren had gone, Alex quickly rushed to
the table where he placed his phone. He denied
the call that once came through and opened a
tracker app with a red flashing signal on the
Google map.
“Where are you headed? Lauren
He muttered as he watched her moving
location.
“Where is he taking Lauren to?

Ethan held Lauren’s hand as they headed into
the clothing store.
“Is this part of our date?”
Lauren asked.
“Maybe …
As long as we are together now, it’s a date”
Ethan smile.
An attendant walked up to them.
“Evening ma’am…
Please can you take us to the female clothing
section?”
Ethan said to the female attendant.
“Yeah…

She replied.

Ethan sat down in the small waiting room
reading a magazine while Lauren unchanged
into her new dress in the changing room.
Lauren came out soon later wearing a dress
with shining colors that reflected light. She
looks radiant and beautiful.
Ethan smiled on seeing her. He drops the
magazine and folds his hands.
“Can you turn around?”
Lauren happily turns as Ethan looks and
admires her.
“It seems you like the dress”
The female attendant asked.
“I love it”
Lauren replied.
“Thanks for this” He faced Ethan.
“You’re welcome…
C’mon…
Let’s go”
Ethan stood up and held Lauren’s hands.
“There are a lot of things we have to do before
the evening becomes dark”
“Wow…
It seems you really had this date all planned
out”
“Yeah…
When I have one chance to go out with
someone I like, I don’t misuse it, but instead, I
make it a good memorable one”

Let’s see what you have for me”
Lauren smile.
Ethan and Lauren both walked out of the lobby.
“But wait, ain’t we paying for my dress?”
I can pay for it, it’s quite expensive”
Lauren suggested.

for before we even came here”

of the clothing store.

Someone came out of the dark wearing a
tuxedo. His hands and face are covered with
gloves and a mask.
He walked slowly with his walking stick and sat
down on a special seat.
“I’m all hears”
He muttered and someone very tall in height
dressed like a bodyguard, walked to him.
“Sir, he wants the girl…
And I don’t think that’s a good thing. He is a
hindrance to the plan”.
“Let him be…
He is responsible for the pregnancy after all”
The man replied.

Ethan drove Lauren into the street of Beverly
Hills.
“With the stories I heard about dates and
relationships, people normally have dates at
restaurants and bars
So which bar or restaurant are we heading to?”
Ethan smiled and looked at her.
“You seem to know much about restaurants and
bars
Have you ever been into one?”
“Why do you ask that?
“You are not the outing lady I know of and I
remember you once told me you don’t do
socials or socialize with people.
“Well, you are right but I have a personal
computer system to search and check for
restaurants and bars in the city.
That’s how I know them”
“Okay fine…
I agree with you, but this time, we are not going
to a restaurant or a bar to talk over a drink”
“So where are you going?”
“It’s a surprise”

“The beach??
Lauren smiles happily as she watches the
beach over from the car window.
“Yeah, come on”
Ethan said after putting the car to a stop and
got down from the vehicle. Lauren folds her
work dress she first wore into a small bag and
adjusts her shinning yellow dress”
Ethan came to the other side of the car and
opened the car door.
Lauren sighed and walked out.
“Thank you”
She muttered.
The cool breeze of the beach blew across her
skin.
“Wow, it’s freezy”
“Don’t worry, c’mon
There are sweaters at the lounge”
Ethan replied.

They both came out of the lounge in red
sweaters. A young lady also came out with
them.
“Follow me…
It’s right over there”
She said to Lauren and Ethan.
Lauren what another surprise Ethan has for her.
Ethan held Lauren’s hands as they followed her.
They got to a spot near the beach. A small
picnic was set on a mat. With yellow lights
around the spot.
A bottle of red wine 🍷 and two glass cups were
placed in the middle of the mat. Some fresh
fruits were placed in a small basket beside it.
Lauren was happy seeing the small picnic.
“Enjoy your date”
The lady said and walked away.
“Are you sure we are going back home tonight?”
Lauren asked.
“Yeah…
We will, or do you want us to stay over till the
next morning?
I don’t mind”
He asked and sat down on the picnic mat.
“What about work?
“Work can wait, you are the boss”
Ethan replied.
“Well, we can’t
Work is more important”
“Why?
Do you know you have to go out more often and
have fun?
Participate in extra circular activities, everything
isn’t about work”
“Working is how I live… It’s like my hobby cos
have gotten used to it”
She said and poured herself some wine.
“But sometimes you have to let out those work
stress by having fun…
And that’s one of the reasons I brought you out,
to have fun, to change you”
Ethan became serious.
“What do you mean?”
“I want you to be happy again… I want to
change that sadistic and always depressed
Lauren Quinn”
Ethan said.
Lauren dropped the glass of wine she was
drinking.
“Why do you want to change me?”
“Because I feel you need me… You need
someone who can make you happy”
“What if I don’t want to be happy?”
“You and I both know you want to be happy, be
free from Mr George and your annoying cousins
Ethan said.
Lauren chuckles.
“You seem to know more about me”
“Yeah…
There is more about you that I know and you
don’t even know I do”
“I want to be happy, I want to have friends I can
talk freely with,
I want to live a life of freedom, be comfortable,
and be okay
But no, it’s the opposite, am so unlucky”
A tear fell from her eye.
Ethan just watched her.
She began to spill out all the problems she had
been hiding from the world.
My life has been a hell for me, especially in the
past few weeks”
