{ The Party }
“I don’t think I can succeed with that? I haven’t
even met Reed and besides, I doubt if Tracy
would want me to interfere” Vance said quickly.
“Tracy have always been one to handle things
on her own and she hardly let’s people get close,
she distance herself from people most
especially me. But you are different, I know that
you will be able to help in this situation. I really
want her to be happy” Mr Martin said looking
desperate.
“All I need you to do is just to help Tracy fall in
love with Reed” He added which prevented
Vance was refusing.
A while later, Vance stood in front of the mirror
back to his real self and dressed in an
expensive tuxedo.
“Wow! I knew you had a pretty face but I never
thought you would be this handsome” Angela
let out in excitement, she stood beside him
gazing at him through the mirror.
One thing Vance is grateful for is that Angela
couldn’t link him to the runaway idol.
The people he came across in the past
recognized him but Angela didn’t which makes
things much more better for him.
“But am I really going to the party like this?
What if your sisters recognize me?” Vance
asked for precaution.
“That’s why I bought you this” Angela replied as
she pulled out a black face mask.
“With your face covered, no one will be able to
recognize you and also am sure that a lot of
girls will envy me at the party ” Angela added
feeling very excited by the prospect.
“Is there no way to change your mind?” Vance
asked wanting her to rethink her decision but
Angela only shook her head.
“There’s no going back. You agreed to
accompany me to the party as my escort, Miss
Sarah. So there’s no way you are getting out of
it” Angela said.
“Give me some few minutes to get dress.”
Angela added before going to her bathroom.

^^ REED’S FAMILY HOME ^^
“Where exactly is this place?” Vance asked as
he and Angela stood in front of a gigantic
mansion.
“It’s our future in law home. Tracy’s fiance”
Angela replied and that turned on his alert
mode.
This is the same house James had been
brought to live when he found his real family.
Back then, James had invited him multiple of
times but Vance busy schedule had got him
prosponing the visit.
And now, after James death, here he is visiting
the place but as an imposter… Vance thought
as they made their way to a table.
“See! People are looking at us” Angela
whispered to him as people kept starring at
them, they must probably be wondering who he
is since he had his face hidden under the mask.
“What exactly is happening tonight?” Vance
asked as he noticed Elsa and Tracy at a table
with their father and also Reed.
“Just some business function and all. I don’t
know that much about the party and I don’t
care” Angela replied as she took a glass of
champagne from a passing waiter.
Vance gaze was glued to the table Tracy was
seated.
He couldn’t help but to remember what he heard
Reed saying at the garden and there’s Mr Martin
proposal.
Though Vance had told Mr Martin to give him
some time to think about it, he knew that he
was going to refuse the offer.
When he left the orphanage home at seventeen,
he was brought to fame immediately and so, he
had no thought for school until all this
happened to him.
It will be fun going back to school but the
thought of being a cupid for Tracy and Reed is
something he just can’t do.
Reed might be the one who ki||ed James and
Tracy isn’t an exception. There’s something
about her that keeps him on guard all the time.
He would rather stay by their side, spying on
their every move rather than to be a cupid…
Vance thought and at that moment Tracy
looked up at him.
They stared at each other in silence and Vance
couldn’t help but to notice the look she gave
him…it was like, she was asking for help.
“It’s so good to see you, Angela” The arrival of
two quirky girls got him looking away from
Tracy.
“Common,The break will be over soon and we
will get to see each other at school” Angela said
and immediately both girls turned their gaze on
Vance.
🗣️ “And who is he?”
“My companion for the night” Angela replied.
🗣️ “What’s with the Mask? Is he ugly or perhaps
an idol?”
“What do you think?” Angela asked as she took
hold of Vance hand.
🗣️ “Am quite sure that he isn’t ugly or you
wouldn’t have brought him along”
🗣️ “Then he is an idol but which idol to be
precise? Let’s have a look”
They moved towards him wanting to pull off the
mask but Angela quickly interfered.
“Stop being nosy and let’s go have fun, try to
mingle around” Angela threw the last comment
his way before going off with the girls.
With Angela gone, Vance decided to use the
little time he had to explore the house.
Without being seen by anyone, he went into the
mansion.
Though they were some few guest in there, he
manage to get to the second floor without being
seen.
He didnt know what he will gain by doing this
but he did hope that he will somehow get a clue.
Vance made it to a corridor only to stay put
when he saw a large frame holding the family
picture.
On the right hand side of the two elderly couple
stood Reed and on the left stood James who
had a happy smile on his face.
He must have been thrilled when the picture
was being taken…Vance thought as a smile
formed on his lips and at that moment, he heard
someone footsteps.
Immediately, he went into a room and hid under
neath the bed hoping no one comes in but
someone did.
“Tonight isn’t a night of tears, mom” Vance
recognized the voice to be that of Reed.
“But it hurts, we were just reunited with him after
years of being apart and then….I lost him again”
A lady choked out in tears and Vance didn’t
need anyone to tell him who she was referring
to.
“James might be gone but he will forever be in
our hearts. So stop with the sad thoughts and
try to be happy for me and for dad” Reed said
which got her nodding.
“Do you have everything ready for tonight? ” His
mother asked and that got Reed smiling like a
baby.
“I have. Tracy won’t expect what am about to
do” Reed replied in excitement.
“Then we better go back downstairs before it’s
too late”
It wasn’t until the door close that Vance got out
of his hiding place.
What exactly is Reed planning that even his
mother knows about it…Vance didn’t feel right
and that got him leaving the room and heading
back to the party.
He had just gotten back to the garden where the
party was being held when Reed took over the
podium.
“Tonight’s a great night for the Martin family
and also for my family since we’ve decided to
merge our company for it to become one” Reed
said which got the guest giving an applause.
“And also” he pause, his gaze drifting to Tracy. “
Everyone present knows that Tracy and I are
both engage. I know you all think that our
engagement is just a way to merge both
companies but that’s a lie since am very much
in love with my fiancee” Reed added as he
slowly made his way towards Tracy’s table.
Kneeling in front of her, he pulled out a box
which held an emerald ring in it.
“I know it’s too soon and I know that we are
both young but I can’t wait anymore, I wish to
have you as my wife, will you be my wife,
Tracy?” Reed asked.
Vance watched Tracy for her reaction, somehow
he knew she h@ťěd the proposal but with them
being the centre of attraction, she couldn’t help
but to say yes.
Reed slid the ring into her finger and right in
front of everyone, he claimed her lips.
Tracy had a smile on her face but Vance could
tell that it’s a fake one. For years he has
mastered the art of putting on fake smile that
he knows when someone is faking a smile.
Feeling choked by the atmosphere, Vance took
a walk which led him to the swimming area.
The plan Reed had been talking about was the
proposal to Tracy.
He hadn’t been plotting something bad but
instead he had been preparing the surprise
proposal.
Reed is practically besotted with Tracy but
Tracy doesn’t feel the same.
He knew that James is one of the reason but
James wouldn’t want to see her mourning over
him without trying to move on.
Should he really help by being their cupid…
Vance thought as he stood starring down at the
pool.
“You can’t do this to me Reed!” On hearing that
voice, Vance quickly found a spot to hide.
Reed was being accompanied by a girl, he had
noticed the girl earlier but had payed her no
attention.
“After everything we’ve been through. You still
choose to be with Tracy” The girl said again.
“And what exactly have we been through? I
know you and I are lovers but I made things
clear before our relationship began”
“I told you that I love Tracy and that no matter
what, she will be the girl i marry even though I
was f^^king you and you accepted. So why the
hell are you making a fuss now?” Reed yelled at
her.
“I don’t want to lose you Reed. Just as you love
Tracy, I love you too, you are everything to me”
“Listen to me, Lola. Me being with Tracy doesn’t
stop us from continuing our relationship. I enjoy
your company and whenever Tracy acts distant,
it’s you I always want by my side. Am not
saying I love you but do know that I will always
want you by my side” Reed said as he pulled her
into his arms.
“As long as am important to you, I don’t mind
being your secret lover even though you marry
her” Lola muttered and she pulled back to kiss
him on the lips.
“Now that we’ve set everything straight, I hope
you wouldn’t cause a scene out there. I wouldn’t
want to give Tracy a cause to end the
engagement cause you know that I…”
“I know you love her, you don’t have to repeat
yourself and I promise to behave just like you
want” Lola said and that got him giving her a
kiss again.
They both left without knowing that Vance had
been listening to their conversation.
He had been wrong about Reed just like Mr
Martin and everyone else.
He has to tell Mr Martin about it…Vance thought
as he made way back to the garden.
He didn’t get to make it to the garden because
the two quirky girls from earlier obstruct his
path.
“Common, show us your face”
“I really want to know which idol you are…
perhaps are you Justin Bieber?”
“Am sorry but I really need to go” Vance said
and made to leave but the two girls launch at
him and pulled off the mask before he could
stop them.
Quickly, Vance used his hand in covering his
face but it wasn’t enough to stop them.
He was about to run away when he felt a cap
being worn on his head.
“Forcing someone to do something is a form of
harassment” on hearing that familiar voice,
Vance looked up to see Tracy standing in front
of him.
🗣️ “Angela told us that he’s an idol and we
wanted to see his face, we didn’t mean any
harm”
“I will let this slide but once you both are caught
again, I won’t leave you alone” Tracy thr_@tened
and immediately the girls left.
Vance stood starring at Tracy and it wasn’t until
she turn to him that he covered his face with his
hand again.
“There’s no use doing that since I know who you
are” she said startling Vance.
“Back at home….I overheard your conversation
with Angela” she revealed further startling him.
